Title: Last day to Vote Springer for MiLB POY
Post by: OregonStrosFan on August 21, 2013, 05:22:07 pm
The USA Today MiLB Player of the Year voting closes today. Springer had a 10ish% lead on Archie Bradley yesterday, but its down to 2% or so currently. So... If you're so inclined... Go cast a few votes for Springer.  It'd be a shame to see a kid approaching 40/40 not get that honor. And now Springer is behind Archie Bradley. Y'all really going to let those "shoulda been forced into the AL Diamondbacks" rig the vote?!? Seriously, no excuse folks...

I've tried twice, but nothing happens when I hit the "Vote" link. I don't think it likes my Chrome browser.

It works fine on the PC. I haven't been able to get it to work on the iPad though...

Yeah, I've tried Firefox and Safari, doesn't work in either. I can't even click the "view results" button.

Fortunately (maybe...):
" Each member of the USA TODAY Sports baseball staff, the group that whittled a strong field down to five finalists, gets one vote and online fan balloting counts as two votes."

Same for me, and I even suppressed a gag reflex and tried IE, too. My guess is that they're using some illicit javascript to look for astros.com cookies on your machine and suppressing your vote if they find any.

Take the quotation mark (") off of the end of the link. It works in all three browsers if you do. Afraid it's too late, though. Bradley has a 20-point lead.

If that poll means anything to anyone then something is wrong.  Buxton, Bogaerts, and Sano garnered a whole 2% of the vote.  Only way that happens is due to bots.

But why use just two words when you can think of thirty-two to put in their place?!? #OccupationalHazard

Astros County came up with a very USA Today way of telling USA Today they were wrong - USA Today Is Completely Full of Crap - Infographic (http://www.astroscounty.com/2013/09/usa-today-is-completely-full-of-crap.html)

BA goes with Buxton as "Player" of the Year.  Certainly, he had a good season, but they spend most of their time playing up his potential (while also downplaying Springer's) rather than isolating his production this season.  They talk about picking a 23-year old in Jeremy Hellickson (same age as Springer, gasp) over Trout a few years ago and boy, they don't want to make that mistake again.  Which is fine, if you want to make this about who's the better prospect.  But, if you want to make it about who had the best season, leave the other stuff out.
