I wonder why Barnes isn't getting more plaing time. He is hitting 60 points higher than Grossman against right handed pitchers.
-
FYI, the game is supposed to be on MLB Network today.

Porter addressed this directly. He said that J.D. Martinez, Grossman and Paredes are getting the playing time to see what they have with those players at the big league level. I guess that they know that Barnes can play but see those three as having higher ceilings.
-
Paredes took a very strange route to the baseball on the second out in the first inning. It appears that those of you who have seen him play in the minor leagues are right about his best position being DH.

Not watching, but my phone altered me to the Astros losing 4-1 now.

Still not watching, but the Astros are now winning 5-4.

Looks like a JD 3-run tater.
-
Elmore doubled, scored on a single by Pena, walk to Carter, 3 run jack by JD.
-
That astronaut was an asshole.
-
I'll be darned... On a site visit in Donald, Oregon, break for lunch at a local tavern and I'll be darned if the Astros game is not o the TV. Pretty cool!
-
That astronaut was an asshole.
Can you elaborate?
-
Could, but...funnier not to?

Fine, then.
Detroit ties it up, according to phone.

BOT 6: 2-out E6, single, single (run scores), Blackley relieves Keuchel, pop fly ends 6 at 5-5.

They had a visitor in the radio booth: Jerry Loninger? Former astronaut. Terrible performance. Ran over everybody. Ford said, "He does play-by-play too, folks."

Your description sounds accurate.

I missed it to run down to get a couple of Diet Cokes. I'm glad that I missed the interview; I hate those in-game interviews with non-baseball guests.

Not Ambush again with a game on the line. Shitfick.

Man. This Lexus marketing campaign can suck a bag of dicks.

Man, this Tigers series has completely passed me by. I've been unaware of the first 8 innings of the last two games, and didn't realize they even played on Monday until late yesterday afternoon.
This is your Astros.
-
Bases loaded, up by two with two outs in the ninth. Miggy up.
DRAMA!
-
7-5 BALLGAME Whew!!!
-
Shit, just realized there was a day game.

Porter, Astros Apologize to Leyland, Tigers for Awkward, Accidental Victory

How close was Cabrera's flyball to going out?

But it goes in the books as an out and a win. Pound Budweisers, folks. We salvaged a game in this series. Now on to Pittsburgh.
-
I wonder if the crowd there screamed like little girls at a Taylor Swift concert? You know, like Rangers fans do when a ball is hit in the air.

I know I certainly did.

Yeah. Winning just feels better when it's doled out sparingly.
And holy shit, the Tigers packed in over 40K for a middle of the week day game against the worst team in baseball? Impressive. I didn't even realize there were that many people left in Detroit.

There's security in the stadium, so it's probably the safest place in town to hang out.

Friend of mine (a couple of years back) "Hey, I'm running a marathon this weekend"

The difference between the city of Detroit and its adjacent suburbs is quite striking. Have a look on google maps. Go into Detroit a block or two from the street that serves as the city line. You'll see one or two houses per block, usually uninhabited. Then go the other direction a couple of blocks into the suburbs. It's freaking Mayberry over there, just a completely normal looking place.
-
My sister lives in the suburbs of Detroit and it's pretty pleasant if you don't mind the winters.
