Marwin's power bat getting a rest?

When keeping score, what number represents the DH?

Mid 2, 0-0. Harrell with 45 pitches to get through the order once.
-
Carter fucking destroyed that ball.
ETA: I think it cleared the top of those ugly billboards in LF. They say 440', seemed farther than that from how high it was.

When he gets into one there's no doubt.

Apparently the GM agrees.

Chris Carter, meet the Community Leaders!
-
Harrell running up a pitch count. He has struggled with his command in every start.
-
Attaboy, Grossman!
-
Grossman gets his 1st big-league hit, an automatic double off the chalk in RF, but is stranded at 2nd after an Altuve walk and a Laird 1-6-3 DP.

Laird? Has he been on the team all month?

+1

No. Keep up. :)
He replaced Walrus who was sent down to OKC to learn the concept of ball-hitting-bat.

Maybe once I can actually see a few games I can keep up appropriately. So I might as well start boning up on the 2015 roster.
-
Harrell with an 8-pitch 1-2-3 inning, although Ashby still found time to be critical.

People with MLB EI outside of the TexLaNewMex area: Do you ever get the CSN feed? It seems when I watch the games on DTV's MLB HD Mix channel it's always the other team's TV feed, regardless of home and away. Is that a DirecTV thing or all of MLB EI?

So far its been about 50/50.

For this Mariner's series I've been getting a Japanese feed but with the Mariner's announcer team. So I guess its a feed of a feed.

If anyone is watching the game. How is it now 4-0?

Ronny Cedeno jacked one over the Crawford Boxes after Carter walked and Corporan singled.

Carter walked and Cedeno went deep? I did not see that coming.

He pretty much one-handed it too. I was as surprised as you are.
-
Grossman's having a nice start.
-
Apparently Grossman likes it here
-
Grossman's having a nice start.
Gonna have to start calling him Robbie Two-Times.
-
Harrell has calmed down a bit on his pitch count, but still averaging 16 tosses per inning, which is too many.
-
Harrell has calmed down a bit on his pitch count
I blame you.
-
Bad luck, as Dominguez dove for a ball that could've been handled by Cedeno for a possible DP, setting the M's up with runners on 1st and 3rd, no outs. But Harrell gets a DP on the next batter as the run scores, 5-1 HOU.
-
Grossman is the first Astro with 2 doubles in his MLB debut since the immortal James Mouton in 1994.
-
I blame you.
Thank you. I do what I can. We'll probably need three innings from the bully today. We need some more runs.
-
Holy shit! Altuve with an amazing play, tumbling and throwing from RF to nab Smoak at 1st.
-

Please do not let that be your fate Robbie.

I had an Algerian roommate once. He said that if one went to Paris, the only phrase you needed to know was "je ne suis pas un mouton." I hope I got that right. Anyway, all I could ever think of with mouton was baaa, and that Algerian.

Your roommate was an Algerian prostitute?
-
Seriously, anyone who's not watching, you should go look at Altuve's play in the highlights later. Really outstanding sliding scoop, tumble, and quick throw from a seated position.

Dingo!

Altuve has plus range at 2B. He's really a fun ballplayer to watch.
-
Oy, Grossman. Feast or famine, amirite?
-
Your roommate was an Algerian prostitute?
No, then he would have been saying I am a sheep.
-
Oy, Grossman. Feast or famine, amirite?
That name is already taken.
-
Laird belongs up here.
-
This team has more power than last year.
-
Playing the Mariners is fun.
-
Harrell now at 104 tosses through seven frames, meaning that he's thrown 59 pitches over the past five innings. That's really good.
-
Laird bounced a bit while turning back toward the first base line after clubbing the home run. Ashby: "I don't know what he's hopping for because he's got to know that this out and fair."
Yeah. Ash is a dick.
-
Cruz in to pitch. Great game for Harrell.

Very solid bounceback for Harrell. He was all over the place in the first two innings, but he really found his release point and turned in a fine performance.

That means they're 7-14 for the season. They're playing .500 ball!

Damn. Missed it. They sure play a lot of day games on Wednesdays. Anyway, whoo hoo!

Caught the SEA postgame this evening and they showed it. Fantastic!
ETA: Not a 'Web Gem' by ESPN (though Utley had a blah play that made #2... don't know why I bother...). In any event... Here is the video (http://houston.astros.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id=8879126&c_id=hou).

Fuck. Those. ESPN cocksuckers. That was a triple blue star play.

Ashby made one really good point (actually made it before this play): Altuve is great at getting rid of the ball quickly. Grounders, DP feed from the SS, whatever, he has an extremely quick transfer and release.

Sphinx linked to three highlights in his recap (http://www.spikesnstars.com/2013/04/25/astros-drydock-mariners/).

Altuve displayed great range last season but made too many mental mistakes. He has improved significantly in the mental aspect of his game and has improved in the field. He is a solid big league starter who would start on most big league clubs. We're very fortunate to have him.

I realized the other day that the only times I've watched non-event programming on ESPN in the last few years is when I'm in the dentist's chair. It provides something more aggravating to focus on than whatever implement is scraping my teeth.

Sphinx, that's some fearful symmetry. The Red Sox are doomed.
