Title: Evan Gattis
Post by: Uncle Charlie on April 14, 2013, 07:35:26 am
MIghthave finally found a Brave I can pull for...at least since Dale Murphy...Evan Gattis.  Here's a good backstory about him, which was published more than a year ago.  Since then, he's crushed the ball in A+ and AA and now made the Braves where he is a big reason for their big start.

Fantastic story of hope and perseverance through the darkness.

I was watching the Atlanta-Washington game yesterday, and when I saw how quickly he turned on a high fastball and crushed it out of the park I immediately went to the player list to see if he was available in our fantasy league. Naturally, Jared had already claimed him.

McCann might have to work for playing time when he comes off of the DL. He can play a corner OF spot too.

He is having the Braves hoping Bud institutes the DH in the NL today. When McCann & Freeman back off the DL and an outfield of Upton, Upton & Hayward - there is no where for Gattis to play.  Will likely be the most feared PH in the game.

With Hayward hitting .091 I'd put him in right.

“I knew there was something more,” Gattis said. “I just felt like there was this thing called happiness, and I wanted it. And the more you look for it, the more it seems further away.”

Pretty insightful for a 25 year old.
