Title: UT-Ole Miss
Post by: austro on September 15, 2012, 08:37:46 pm
Ash looks absolutely terrified to throw the ball more than 5 yards. Not a recipe for success.

It is absolutely staggering that these guys cannot fucking recruit a quarterback.

I am not a believer in committing to high school sophomores.

And then you quit looking.

This doesn't really look like a top-5 defense to me.

Ole Miss is horrible, so it's really difficult to get any read on anything good or bad. Just take your W and move on.

This team does not tackle well. That's going to cost them before this season is over.

The secondary is very suspect. I always think back to the 2009 team whose secondary got dramatically better over the course of the year. Maybe this team can do the same.

Meanwhile, I sure am glad that Levine fired that OC Nesbitt. He sucked.

Ash looked amazing compared to SMU's Gilbert.

Well, you really nailed that one.

Ash will be fine. he should have redshirted last year.

They whiffed on Gilbert.  But otherwise, I'd say that Applewhite-Simms-Young-McCoy is a stretch that anyone other than USC would kill for.

+1 One of Mack's strengths historically has been his ability to recruit quarterbacks.

The thing that makes it a bit worse is it you look at the crop of TX QBs over the last two years:

Luck, RGIII, Darren Thomas, Foles, Tannehill

One of these things is not like the other...

It overlaps neatly with a period in which many staff members (not coincidentally, all gone) were asleep on the job.

Still a hell of a college quarterback.

It was fun to see our offense click for the first time in a few years. It was even more fun to party with the home fans in The Grove all day and ogle Mississippi girls.

There's nothing like tailgating with chandeliers and white linens in the Grove with the Ole Miss faithful and then beating the ever living shit out of them on the field. Hoddy toddy, indeed.

Most of my Longhorn friends who made the trip are now prepares to add Memphis or even Rhodes to the Big 12, if only to have an excuse to do Brake Street and The Peabody. They're also ready to usurp The Grove from Really Old Miss.

The Rhodes Lynx would make a nice addition to the conference!

They'll always be Southwestern at Memphis (SAM) for me. Pretty campus.

He did well enough to garner Big 12 and Davey O'Brien offensive POTW honors.   7 TDs against 0 picks is much better than last year.

Agreed. It's one of the prettiest college campuses I've ever been on, and I've been on over 70 college campuses. All of the buildings on the campus were apparently built from rock from the same quarry. A dear friend of mine is the director of alumni relations there.

I spent ten minutes trying to figure out where the hell Brake Street was. Even with your renegade spelling it never occurred to me that you simply meant Beale Street.

without auto-correct life would hold no mystery.
