Altuve, in his first AB every game, should introduce himself to the home plate umpire and point out that he is really short and has a different strike zone than other batters.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. DisAstros is an old nickname that I first heard back during the disastrous 1975 season. Oh, if we could only be as good as we were in 1975.

It was the fact that he's gone on a road home run binge after he leaves. He hit no road home runs for us.

I don't know when Luhnow's change of roster that was supposed to happen right after July 31 will happen. Maybe it'll be on this homestand. We can only pray.

I thought that Maxwell would shine against a low ball pitcher like Gearrin, and he smokes a two bagger to knot the score at 1, with runners at 2B and 3B to face Venters.

Astros poised for more roster moves in near future
By Brian McTaggart / MLB.com

HOUSTON -- Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow hinted more roster moves could be on the horizon in the next few days, especially when the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline passes. The Astros have been shuffling players between Minor League affiliates in the last few days because of the trades they've made, and some players could be headed to Houston.
On Wednesday, the Astros promoted pitchers Jose Ciserno, Jarred Cosart and Jake Buchanan to Triple-A Oklahoma City from Double-A Corpus Christi and sent pitcher Paul Clemens to Corpus Christi from Oklahoma City.

"I've talked consistently about early August being a checkpoint for us, as far as our prospects' development," he said. "If we believe a prospect has done everything they need to do at that level and we want to challenge them a level ahead, we're going to go ahead and do that over the month of August. We'll be constrained by who's at what level, but there will be some moves."

Luhnow admitted there are some players performing at Triple-A Oklahoma City who deserve a shot to be evaluated at the Major League level in the same fashion some of the current Astros are getting. Any possible roster moves at the Major League level could be impacted by waivers, however.

Luhnow didn't give specific names, but the players on the roster who are currently out of options are pitchers Wesley Wright and Lucas Harrell and outfielders Brian Bogusevic and Jordan Schafer.

"It's one of the tough decisions we're going to need to make in the next week or two because there are some players that we can't move back to Triple-A without risking losing them," Luhnow said. "So you have to decide carefully how you do that. Not only that, but we have constraints here and positional requirements.

"In an ideal match, we would probably mix and match a bigger group and give everybody an opportunity up here to be evaluated in the last two months. There are realistic constraints that prevent us from doing that as much as we'd like to, but we're going to work around those."

That's easy.  Downs is a replacement for Moore.  If you bat JD there and never get another pinch hitter in you have to burn another player

While I agree, it can be chalked up to Millsie's going for it in that inning. And the lead run scores on a fucking wild pitch. Fick. Speaking of him, is he still up and, if so, why?

And an excellent recap it is as usual. I was at first confused by it because I thought that the line "slack-jawed yokels" was the salutation in a letter to the MLB offices. I was on board immediately but read on and figured out that it was the recap and not a hateful vintage screed that FYB has coming to him from all of us.

Baseball and booze. And a few other things. Actually, I was a news/nonfiction addict back then. To some extent, I still am in that I don't watch movies (once in a blue moon my wife will force me to watch one on television with her) or network TV at all. When I'm not watching baseball, which is rare, I only watch stuff like the History Channel, H2, Science Channel, A&E (I love Storage Wars and the show about the Louisiana Duck call family) and my favorite, the Military Channel.
