Your lineups (note that Francisco is in RF instead of the Serbian Slugger, who's 0-4 against the rightie with two punchouts, while Francisco is 2-4 against Karstens--on our batting order, which changes daily, I can't explain it-it just happens):

I think Millsie is going to have them draw names.

I think Millsie is going to have them draw names.
As you can see from our batting order, it's like the proverbial rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Precisely. I hope that they DFA him. He's just taking up a spot on the bench right now. His only value is as a pinch runner (which we rarely use) or defensive replacement, but we have Bogusevic (at least for now) for that.

Remember, he can bunt like a motherfucker.

Bunt like a motherfucker, whiff like a bitch.

BTW, I won't be around - going out on the town tonight.
You guys are safe.

Damn. I thought that we'd discuss Pascal's fine work "On Dread," and its application in 2012.

Tell you what, I'll ruminate over that and other things while I am perambulating around this evening.
Meantime, I am depending on a descriptive and entertaining GZ and recap so I can figure out what the fuck happened and didn't happen in the game tonight, later on.
I know you guys will provide.

Count on that, DS! Have fun!

Yup and a lefty on the mound tomorrow
-
The over/under for home runs allowed by Lyles tonight is two.
-
I should have worn my matching retro jersey, but I'm clad in my 1951 Willie Mays jersey.
-
The over/under for home runs allowed by Lyles tonight is two.
Under
-
Lyles gets them in order. 0- Bottom 1
-
Under
Two-a push.
-
Ok, some trivia for you folks. Who leads the Astros in saves this year (among current Astros)? No cheating.
-
Karstens spins a 68 mph hammer to strike out Altuve.
-
Ok, some trivia for you folks. Who leads the Astros in saves this year (among current Astros)? No cheating.
Cedeno?
-
We strand CJ at 2B. 0-0 Top 2. Garrett Jones, who has two home runs against Lyles, leads off.
-

Cedeno?
-
Lyles is mowing down the lefties. 0-0 Bottom 2
-
I just got to the Slack Shack after a 55 hour work week. Man, I can't wait for the game to get started.
-
Wow!
-
I always liked Mike Scott because my out pitch also was the forkball/split finger baseball (there's supposedly a difference between the two, but I'm not convinced of that).
-
Meanwhile, back at the ballgame. We've got runners on the corners with nobody out. Until Snyder takes a fucking ugly hack to strike out.
-
wow maxwell way to go
-

55 hours, Sphinx? That's a lot. Meanwhile, Maxwell eludes the catcher to score another run.
-
Great visit with Scottie.
-
Marwin almost got that one, but comes up a few feet short. 2-0 Top 3
-
Great visit with Scottie.
It was, as was his first pitch in flip flops.
-
Lyles looks good so far. Three perfect frames. 2-0 Bottom 3
-
CJ clubs a hammer into the Crawford Boxes. 3-0
-
karstens' hammer is slow and pretty, striking out JD and Maxwell. 3-0 Top 4-second time through the order-let's see how the approach changes for Lyles.
-
Greinke is now an Angel.
-
Greinke is now an Angel.
And the Rangers are in hard on Josh Johnson.
Ooh. Aah.
-
Marwin is a ball player.
-
Lyles has started the first two hitters with hammers.
-
Damn.
-
Lyles problems with home runs continues. Pressley goes deep. 3-1
-
Presley answers the musical question, "What happens the second time through?"
-
God damn I'm sick of Dave Raymond and his need to say "I" and tell you how things are supposed to be. I hope that piece of shit rots in hell.
-
Like Dolan is better.
-
Cedeno?
Sorry, company arrived early. Yes, cedeno with 1 save leads all current Astros.
-
I've haven't had any liquor, beer, or wine, all week man, tonight I'm a gonna drink beer, as much as I feel like. Motherfuckers.
-
Lyles showed me something after the Superman double. He was very poised out there.
-
I've always felt Dave Raymond would be more fun to hang out with but Bret Dolan is quite a bit better as a PBP guy. Neither have any business doing color.
-
Sorry, company arrived early. Yes, cedeno with 1 save leads all current Astros.
I wondered where you were with that. Meanwhile, Francisco goes deep, but they're reviewing it. Looked good to me.
-
I'm sure there is a term for it, like the opposite of synergy, but DoRay is far worse than DoLo or MiRay.
-
Karstens has given up two long balls on hooks. That 0-2 pitch was being greedy, and he paid for it.
-
Have any of you Houstonites seen Chevy Hometown Kids program?
-
Altuve's between pitch regimen is not unusual, but it is annoying to a pitcher, so you can't watch them.
-
They still got a lot of time left to fuck it up, but.
-
They still got a lot of time left to fuck it up, but.
We're going into one of hurricane innings for Lyles.
-
Snappy hammer tonight from Lyles, but there goes my predicted number of two. 4-3 now.
-
Cordero has a sprained toe? Or a sprained ego. He was killing my eyesight, so put him on the DL.
-
Modello douche, Brown Hand Center sleazeball
-
Sprained career.
-
Modello douche, Brown Hand Center sleazeball
And still no Kyle.
-
And still no Kyle.
Yeah. Where's that motherfucker?
-
He'll wash up in Buffalo Bayou when it rains next.
-
CJ works a walk, laying off of a decent hammer.
-
It's nice hearing Brownie and JD after suffering through the radio crew all week. Seeing the action is icing on the cake.
-
It's nice hearing Brownie and JD after suffering through the radio crew all week. Seeing the action is icing on the cake.
We're glad for you. I've never heard DoRay, but I'll take you guys' word for it.
-
We need these runs, Francisco.
-
Fuck me, this club is dreadful with the bases loaded. 4-3 Top 6. Better get the bullpen up if Lyles history in the sixth inning is repeated.
-
Andrea Andrus comes out of nowhere to tell Patty anyone could do her job.
-
Yeah. Where's that motherfucker?
They replaced him with a hound.
-
We're glad for you. I've never heard DoRay, but I'll take you guys' word for it.
Agony. Chirpy, didactic agony.
-
Well, fuck me. Another one of my players, Plouffe, goes on the DL. I just got Lucroy back, but I've got four on now.
-
Agony. Chirpy, didactic agony.
The banality is palpable.
-
God damnit, Maxwell. Hit the fucking cutoff man.
-
Moore bails out CJ. Be careful with Alvarez.
-
Lyles' fastball has become awfully straight over the past couple of innings.
-
Great recovery from Lyles. Millsie, get him oput of there with a lead. Don't listen to his pleas to go back out. I'm telling you now that is a mistake.
-
Lyles' fastball has become awfully straight over the past couple of innings.
His stuff always flattens out at around the 60 pitch mark, causing me to question his conditioning.
-
God damnit, Maxwell. Hit the fucking cutoff man.
That was ridiculous. A looping banana ball that had no chance for anything. I hope he learned something.
-
God damnit, Maxwell. Hit the fucking cutoff man.
Will this kind of shit ever end. It didn't end up hurting, but it is so fucking inexcusable.
Lyles staying. Will be an interesting 7th.
-

Cheech is sitting on the bench thinking They better bench that motherfucker too.
-
Cheech is sitting on the bench thinking They better bench that motherfucker too.
He should, IMO, but he won't. Accountability ain't his thing.
-
4-3 Top 7. I'm telling you, Millsie, don't give Lyles anything but a very short leash here in the seventh.
-
Way to go, Millsie. Great job, Lyles.
-
4-3 Top 7. I'm telling you, Millsie, don't give Lyles anything but a very short leash here in the seventh.
Good call
-
Angel of Doom on to pitch with the game on the line. Hide your eyes!
-
How can you throw an 0-2 heater with that much plate? 4-4 with two outs.
-
I wonder if our hitters took note of what to do with a man on 3rd.
-
CJ must want to be dealt.
JD coming through again.
-
It's a miracle. No loss for Lyles.
-
CJ with a triple up on Tal's hill. Let's see our stellar clutch hitting from JD, who delivers his club leading rbi, somewhere around 52 or 53, IIRC.
-
CJ just a single away from the cycle.....His Home/Away split is rather lopsided to say the least
-

52
-
Wow, I thought they had Martinez.
-
Here you go, Mr. Happy: another bases-loaded opportunity.
-
JD is a terrible base runner, but he lucks out.
Bases loaded, I'm expecting something dismal.
-
Bases loaded with two outs to Downs, pinch hitting for FeRod. I can't watch, but I will.
-
Another failure with the bases juiced. What's our batting average now in those situations now? 130's?
-
WW gets his man, then goes to RF? A little strategerie!
-
This is kind of stupid, IMO. If Lopez gets him out, then you have to move him to right after that to keep him in.
-
How in the fuck can you throw that pitch 0-2 to McCutcheon? Serves you right, Lopez.
-
This is of course going to end in disaster but right now it's kind of fun.
-
WW on to pitch against Jones.
-
Cap tip to Mills
-
Why the fuck is Cruz up in the bullpen now? He's the patron saint of lost causes.
-
Why the fuck is Cruz up in the bullpen now? He's the patron saint of lost causes.
Would you prefer Cordero?
-
Cap tip to Mills
Indeed. It was his finest hour.
-
Cedeno has the club's only save this season of the pitchers, including Lopez. I don't want a right hander against this lefty dominant lineup.
-
I'm guessing Wesley faces Alvarez and Cruz comes in the face the righties
-
WW should pitch to Alvarez.
-
Great call, Millsie.
-
I'm guessing Wesley faces Alvarez and Cruz comes in the face the righties
You were right. Now I really can't watch, but I can't get away from it.
-
Fick up in the bully but I suspect that this belongs to Cruz.
-
Rhiner Cruz on for the save. Your 2012 Astros.
-
Nothing's going to come easy, is it?
-
Rhiner Cruz on for the save. Your 2012 Astros.
We're working on it.
-
Is there someone warming up in the bullpen?
-
I'm waiting for Brocail to just say fuck it and grab the ball from somebody and take the mound himself.
-
Is there someone warming up in the bullpen?
Chuckie.
-
I'm waiting for Brocail to just say fuck it and grab the ball from somebody and take the mound himself.
He might be the best reliever in an Astro uniform.
-
Is there someone warming up in the bullpen?
Cedeno.
-
Can we make it three in a row?
-
Damn, Culbreth. That was a fucking strike. Now our closer is coming on with the bases loaded and only one out.
-
That was why I didn't want to see Cruz. Absolutely no command. 5-5 now
-
And there's the tying run. Fuck. And it's not like we've got anybody to pitch extra innings.
-
Fuck it, fuck it, fuck it all.
-
And it's not like we've got anybody to pitch extra innings.
Well, I guess that wild pitch solved that problem.
-
Oh goody.
-
God damnit, Snyder, you piece of shit. You have to block the ball.
-
Here comes Hanrahan. Fuck. Time to put on the rally caps, folks!
-
JD with a clutch single, with one out to Maxwell. Schreefer on to pinch run, which is his highest and best use.
-
Schreefer on to pinch run, which is his highest and best use.
What are the odds on a brain cramp?
-
Amazing. Almost like real baseball.
-
Maxwell strikes out with a ball up in his eyes. Two outs to Bogusevic.
-
Well, fuck. Nice bullpen.
-
What did they get for Myers?
-
And Bogusevic doesn't disappoint, fouling out to end it. 6-5 BALLGAME.
-
What did they get for Myers?
Three losses. And counting.
-
Three losses. And counting.
I'm starting to wonder if 45 wins truly will happen. This team's worse than the 1962 steM.
-
I really don't get all the praise for Mills' move. You have six outs to go, and your best pitcher gets to pitch to one batter, and your second best pitcher gets to come in with bases loaded and one out. Could one have minimized the use of their best pitchers any more than he did?
I don't think he ever realized that the move had to have Lopez move out to right after pitching to McCuchen; otherwise, it was a complete misuse of your best reliever.
-

I agree that Lopez is his best. Had I been managing, I'd have sunk or swam with Lopez alone for the remainder of the ballgame. Where Mills went wrong, and he'd done a good job juggling matchups and was pretty successful up til the ninth, was bringing in a pitcher with no command. Had I been in that situation, with Lopez already burned, I'd have gone with Cedeno. But if wishes were horses, then beggars could ride...
-
I can't wait to read Neil's recap of this latest shitfest.
-
I don't think he ever realized that the move had to have Lopez move out to right after pitching to McCuchen; otherwise, it was a complete misuse of your best reliever.
I thought this was exactly what he was going to do and was very surprised when he took Lopez from the game.
-

Likewise. JD made a bad excuse for it but he was obviously also confused.
-
Likewise. JD made a bad excuse for it but he was obviously also confused.
He's saying the 8th inning is the most important inning! said JD.
Turns out the 9th is pretty important, too.
