1-1 Bottom 2 Jason Castro is having some difficulty, seemingly self-induced, behind the plate. Perhaps HH will grace us with in-depth analysis of Castro behind the dish. He doesn't look good tonight to this layman.

I really like Ricky Weeks' little brother.  Not the same sort of player, but he seems to fire up his team.  I guess we'll see more of him next year,

I saw Jemile play in Sacramento last year before he got the call up. He's a better player than Rickey, and that's saying something. He has fewer holes in his swing at the same point in his career.

His emergence more-or-less forced them to trade Mark Ellis.  And Ellis was a fixture with that franchise.

Art Howe was performing his civic duty down at the Harris County courthouse today.  He was on a panel for a jury I was picking.  He didn't make the jury, but he brought some humor and levity to the proceedings.

I've been on two juries, both times while I was practicing. Both were criminal juries (that was NOT my area of practice), and i ended up as the foreman on both juries.

This was a small potatoes civil action between a car salesman and his dealership over a commission.  Turns out Howe worked a winter back in the day selling cars.  When the defense attorney asked him if he'd like to go back to selling cars, Howe said "I'd rather try hitting a slider."

4-1 Bravos Bottom 4. Wandy is not sharp with his fastball location, and he also has shown some signs of being gun shy about throwing in the dirt with Castro back there.

Not for nuthin', but I think Gameday should be held to a "truth in advertising" standard. The graphics are nice and all, but the jam packed to the gills stadium is just not right. They should have 20 fans in right, another 20 in the upper deck and slightly more in the CB.

These are the types of games that the young Astros cannot afford to get into night in and night out. Every once and awhile you will need to win ugly (re: rely on offense and the other team imploding), but to win consistently you need your pitching to do what they need to do to keep your young team in the game.

Great point. Wandy just doesn't look good to me tonight. That fastball has to be located well in order to set up that hook. He's thrown a lot of pitches.

I remember that sage Lance Berkman saying "You are going to have offense come and go, but you need pitching to be consistent if you want to win in this league" and "That guy (Brett Myers) knows what it takes to help his team win, if we can only score two runs, then he holds the other team to 1 run."

I believe Delgado was one of the young Bravos pitchers that Houston tried to pry away in the Bourn deal. Another one, Vizcaino, is out with Tommy John.

Wandy sets them down in order with only four pitches, which is really good since his location is not good tonight. I'd have made him thrown more pitches.

Fuckin Altuve

Messin' with OSF Astros Baseball Commandment #1 there.  Don't let it happen again!

When you get your dumbass picked off in such a crucial situation with the opposing pitcher on the ropes, with the SS running BEHIND you to pick you off, thereby letting the pitcher off the hook, you're going to catch some shit from me. Notice that I didn't complain too much when he took strike three in the ninth inning. The pickoff play at 2B was unforgivable. I stand by my characterization of it as a rookie boner.

'Rookie boner', 'idiotic play', 'pull your head out of your ass Altuve', and the like, all fine and dandy.  Just no fuck, Altuve's / fuckin' Altuve's, and the like.  That is where I draw the line.  And as everybody knows, things like where OSF draws lines are the only things that truly matter at SnS.  It's my world baby, everyone else here is just a squirrel tryin' to get a nut...

ETA: and based on some of the stuff we've seen from him already this season, the kid does need to pull his head out of his ass...  Just so that we're clear that I agree with you on that...

Nice try sir, but you're obviously not familiar with OSF Astros Baseball Commandment #2:

#2: Thou shalt never get involved in a land war in Asia, or in the alternative a word war with Coach!

What can I say, the latter is a 'deference' thing...
