JD!!!!
-
1-0 Good Guys. Top 2
-
Braves knot it at 1 and have a runner on 2B with one out.
-
Fuck Castro. Poor catcher work.
-
Castro doesn't seem like a great defensive catcher
-
1-1 Bottom 2 Jason Castro is having some difficulty, seemingly self-induced, behind the plate. Perhaps HH will grace us with in-depth analysis of Castro behind the dish. He doesn't look good tonight to this layman.
-
Castro doesn't seem like a great defensive catcher
Sure not looking like it thus far this season.
-
I went to the Athletics/Royals afternoon game today.
-
Castro is now 0-10 on the young season.
-

I really like Ricky Weeks' little brother. Not the same sort of player, but he seems to fire up his team. I guess we'll see more of him next year,

I saw Jemile play in Sacramento last year before he got the call up. He's a better player than Rickey, and that's saying something. He has fewer holes in his swing at the same point in his career.
-
1-1 Bottom 3 Wandy has 4 K's.
-
TexMessage: Freeman is in over his head.
-
This guy Delgado has a pretty damn good changeup.
-

His emergence more-or-less forced them to trade Mark Ellis. And Ellis was a fixture with that franchise.
-
God damnit, Lucas. Everyone knows about the risk that you might not get a bobblehead if you tarry to the yard. Fuck!!!
-
His emergence more-or-less forced them to trade Mark Ellis. And Ellis was a fixture with that franchise.
As much of a fixture as you can be in that silly franchise.
-
Wonder if Screefer will be stealing a bag?
-
Larry Wayne strikes again. Thank goodness I picked him up on my fantasy team.
-
Wonder if Screefer will be stealing a bag?
The lids they gave away last night were quality.
-
Art Howe was performing his civic duty down at the Harris County courthouse today. He was on a panel for a jury I was picking. He didn't make the jury, but he brought some humor and levity to the proceedings.
-
First bad play by Gonzalez. Too many errors thus far this season. That's number five.
-

I've been on two juries, both times while I was practicing. Both were criminal juries (that was NOT my area of practice), and i ended up as the foreman on both juries.
-
Fuck. Wandy gives up a two run double. What a shitty 0-2 pitch.
-

This was a small potatoes civil action between a car salesman and his dealership over a commission. Turns out Howe worked a winter back in the day selling cars. When the defense attorney asked him if he'd like to go back to selling cars, Howe said "I'd rather try hitting a slider."
-
Howe sold cars too? He's a Renaissance man!!!
-
Not a good sign when Bourn is already 0-3 in the fourth inning.
-
Kind of glad this one's not on TV here tonight so far.
-
4-1 Bravos Bottom 4. Wandy is not sharp with his fastball location, and he also has shown some signs of being gun shy about throwing in the dirt with Castro back there.
-
Not for nuthin', but I think Gameday should be held to a "truth in advertising" standard. The graphics are nice and all, but the jam packed to the gills stadium is just not right. They should have 20 fans in right, another 20 in the upper deck and slightly more in the CB.
-
I really like Ricky Weeks' little brother. Not the same sort of player, but he seems to fire up his team. I guess we'll see more of him next year,
Athletics won 5-4 in extras today on back-to-back dots by Broxton, who simply imploded after coming in from the bully. .
-
Filthy changeup to Lee to strike him out. Nasty, I am telling you.
-
These are the types of games that the young Astros cannot afford to get into night in and night out. Every once and awhile you will need to win ugly (re: rely on offense and the other team imploding), but to win consistently you need your pitching to do what they need to do to keep your young team in the game.
-
This Delgado guy is tossing changeups to everyone. And why not, he's got it going on right now.

Great point. Wandy just doesn't look good to me tonight. That fastball has to be located well in order to set up that hook. He's thrown a lot of pitches.

I remember that sage Lance Berkman saying "You are going to have offense come and go, but you need pitching to be consistent if you want to win in this league" and "That guy (Brett Myers) knows what it takes to help his team win, if we can only score two runs, then he holds the other team to 1 run."
-
I believe Delgado was one of the young Bravos pitchers that Houston tried to pry away in the Bourn deal. Another one, Vizcaino, is out with Tommy John.
-
Castro walks and now the bases are loaded for Gonzalez.
-
Crapola
-
Another good AB by Gonzalez, but no dice. 4-1 Top 5
-
This guy Delgado has thrown a lot of offspeed pitches tonight, but he's only throwing that changeup consistently for strikes. We should be able to get to him the next time through the order.
-
Wandy sets them down in order with only four pitches, which is really good since his location is not good tonight. I'd have made him thrown more pitches.
-
Bixler pinch hits for Wandy to open the bottom of the fifth. God damn, Bixler. You gotta swing the bat.
-
Larry Wayne can't make the bunt play. Schreefer aboard with one out.
-
Haha. Chipper blows the bunt.
-
Schafer steals a bag on a poor toss by Delgado.
-
Runners on the corners with one out for Martinez. Come on, JD!!!
-
Can't believe McDowell hasn't been out there yet. This guy is laboring right now.
-
Why did Martinez swing at a 3-0 with the guy having trouble locating? Astros score a run on a scalded ball off of Delgado.
-
Where is everyone tonight?
-
Why did Martinez swing at a 3-0 with the guy having trouble locating? Astros score a run on a scalded ball off of Delgado.
I've asked that for years.
-
Where is everyone tonight?
I'm at work. Dammit.
-
Fuckin Altuve
-
Fuck, Altuve. What a boner. We let this kid off of the hook with Lee at bat.
-
Fuck, Altuve. What a boner. We let this kid off of the hook with Lee at bat.
It's amazing that the shortstop can sneak behind him unnoticed in a virtually empty stadium. You would think somebody would have yelled for Altuve to cheat back to the bag.
-
Is it time for me to get on my soapbox about pitchers pitching from the stretch with no one on base? I didn't think so, but I still hate it.
-

Yep. Definitely a rookie type boner.
-
Rhiner Cruz threw some gas past Francisco for a strikeout. Got them out in order. 4-2 with a new pitcher coming in.
-
Buck is a good pinch hitter.
-
Castro now 0-12. Oy
-
Well crap
-
Well, fuck. Runners on 2B and 3B with one out.
-
Tough error on Buck
-
Well crap
Couldn't have said it better myself.
That's three errors for the home nine tonight.
-
Cruz strikes out Larry Wayne!!! But he's not out of the woods yet.
-
Nice effort, Carlos.
-
That was catchable Lee
-
Cruz works his way out of a tough jam. 4-2 Bottom 7
-
So, Mr. H, how was your day?
-
I am having trouble understanding how Lowrie will be an upgrade over Gonzalez.
-
Went to the Athletics/Royals game this afternoon. Got to see a coouple of home runs and a back-to-back walk-off HBP win by the Athletics. Had a good day. And you?
-
Fair to middlin'.
-
Good AB by Maxwell against a pretty tough lefty.
-
The Braves logo looks almost hot pink on my tv.
-
Schreefer can't sacrifice bunt a lick.
-
Dammit Schreefer
-
Altuve has been getting behind in the count a lot, which is alright since he doesn't strike out much.
-
Nice, Altuve. Gotta do it now boys. Venters and Kimbrel in the wings.
-
Should Dave Clark have sent Gonzalez there? Probably not with a hot JD coming up.
-
Should Dave Clark have sent Gonzalez there? Probably not with a hot JD coming up.
Id love to see Clark be more aggressive.
-
Crapola.
-
So the MLB audio is 30 seconds behind, based on the live cut-in on MLB Network.
-
Ok. C'mon Lee.
-
This is a Braves team ripe for the taking but the Astros just aren't there yet.
-
Nice AB from the big guy.
-
I'll take a walk there.
-
4-3 with bases still loaded and two out.
-
This ump has been really squeezing this pitcher.
-
Ugh
-
Well shit.
-
Id love to see Clark be more aggressive.
The last thing that you want to do is run yourself out of an inning. He had a rookie on 3B. Maybe he sends a veteran. That hot corner coaches box is not for the faint of heart. Everybody thinks that they can do that job better than you.
-
Well... keep inching closer, I guess.
-
This ump has been really squeezing this pitcher.
Well, it is the pitcher's fault because he has not been sharp. You don't get the benefit of the doubt when you're missing consistently.
-
Hayward goes yard. 5-3 Braves.
-
Well... keep inching closer, I guess.
Holy fuckin Heyward
-
Well fuck me.
-
I need a beer. Or five.
-
Hayward goes yard. 5-3 Braves.
Heyward's been due. He was locking in at batting practice last night.
-
I need a beer. Or five.
I wish. But you all don't want to see that. Nor do I.
-
So...7 errors in games Wandy starts, 0 errors in any other game?
-
So...7 errors in games Wandy starts, 0 errors in any other game?
Keeps the ERA neat.
-
So...7 errors in games Wandy starts, 0 errors in any other game?
And your point is?
-
Uh oh. WW coming in. Will Freddy counter with a right handed pinch hitter for Hinske? I'll miss the gamesmanship of the National League next season.
-
Nope. Freddy sticks with Hinske, who grounds out to Lee. 5-3 Braves Bottom 8
-
And your point is?
You should know by now that I rarely have a point.
-

Had there been anyone on base, I bet that Freddy would have played that differently.
-
You should know by now that I rarely have a point.
But you just did.
-
Nice ole, Larry Wayne.
-
Snyder pinch hitting for Castro.
-
You should know by now that I rarely have a point.
And, wow, that sounded better in my head.
-
Venters is off tonight. We've got a little shot.
-
Venters is off tonight. We've got a little shot.
Wild?
-
Well, shit. Gonzalez is up.
-
And, wow, that sounded better in my head.
Yeah, you tee'd that up so eloquently all I could do was laugh.
-
Wild?
Missing his spots.
-
Fuck. A hanging slider and he fouled it straight back. Double play on a hard hit ball.
-
Fuck. A hanging slider and he fouled it straight back. Double play on a hard hit ball.
Lowrie would've hit it out.
-
WW pitching to Bourn, and Altuve made a nice play on a scoop to nip Bourn.
-
WW on a four pitch walk to Prado.
-
Oh goody, free runners.
-
Freeman doesn't look too good against left handed pitching. God damnit, Snyder. You're looking like Castro now.
-
Nice K
-
What a clusterfuck
-
Larry Wayne singles to CF in probably his last AB in Houston. Keystone Cops in the field.
-
Perfect last Houston at bat for fucking Chipper.
-
Thank goodness that is over
-
Keystone fucking kops.
-
Last chance for the home team. 6-3 Braves. Kimbrel coming on.
-
Altuve takes a third called strike. Two out. JD up. Last hope.
-
Altuve takes a third called strike. Two out. JD up. Last hope.
Help us Obi-wan-Caballo. You're our only hope.
-
Sigh...
-
Help us Obi-wan-Caballo. You're our only hope.
Who also takes a called third strike.
-
God damnit. Lee up with two on and two out, but he takes a snake over the plate for strike three. 6-3 Braves BALLGAME Shitfuck
-
Nice pitching by Kimbrel. Got squeezed a bit, but came back with a nasty pitch.
-
Who also takes a called third strike.
The force was weak with this one.
-
Thanks Mr. H for keeping the GZ on mouth to mouth tonight!
-
The force was weak with this one.
Hit, or hit not. There is no looking at strike three.
-
Previewing the Miami series, JD said, "Lookin forward to seeing that thing in left field."
-
Fuck, Altuve. What a boner. We let this kid off of the hook with Lee at bat.
Fuckin Altuve
Messin' with OSF Astros Baseball Commandment #1 there. Don't let it happen again!

When you get your dumbass picked off in such a crucial situation with the opposing pitcher on the ropes, with the SS running BEHIND you to pick you off, thereby letting the pitcher off the hook, you're going to catch some shit from me. Notice that I didn't complain too much when he took strike three in the ninth inning. The pickoff play at 2B was unforgivable. I stand by my characterization of it as a rookie boner.

'Rookie boner', 'idiotic play', 'pull your head out of your ass Altuve', and the like, all fine and dandy. Just no fuck, Altuve's / fuckin' Altuve's, and the like. That is where I draw the line. And as everybody knows, things like where OSF draws lines are the only things that truly matter at SnS. It's my world baby, everyone else here is just a squirrel tryin' to get a nut...
ETA: and based on some of the stuff we've seen from him already this season, the kid does need to pull his head out of his ass... Just so that we're clear that I agree with you on that...

Nice try sir, but you're obviously not familiar with OSF Astros Baseball Commandment #2:
#2: Thou shalt never get involved in a land war in Asia, or in the alternative a word war with Coach!
What can I say, the latter is a 'deference' thing...

He is not left handed.
