9000 posts. congrats
-
Weiland pulls a "hey the old shillelagh" on the game's first pitch to Bourn.
-
Love the jerseys tonight.
Weiland has a ton of movement on his pitches, but is the control there?
-
A Harry Craft reset.
-
I thought that Uggla got more of that one than he did. Weiland got away with one.
-
Hanson has been brutal on the Astros so far. Let's jinx his ass. Schreefer tests Lawwy Wayne.
-
Nice test. Nice play by Chipper.
-
Uniforms look cool. Any good heckles I can yell at Prado?
-
The Altuve takes a called third. Damn.
-
Uniforms look cool. Any good heckles I can yell at Prado?
Ask him if he loves Hugo Chavez.
-
Inning? Score?
-
The Altuve takes a called third. Damn.
I would have, too. That looked awfully high on him. I know a pitcher wants that called, but all he could do would be popping it up.
-
Uniforms look cool. Any good heckles I can yell at Prado?
You look like a Spanish museum?
-
Inning? Score?
End of 1st. 0-0
-
End of 1st. 0-0
Gracias.
-
You look like a Spanish museum?
Puta te amo?
-
I would have, too. That looked awfully high on him. I know a pitcher wants that called, but all he could do would be popping it up.
He took three called strikes in that AB, which isn't necessarily bad for a first look.
-
Really nice looking uniforms. Bear with me. I might say this more than a few times.
-
Fucking hell.
-
God damnit. No time for a balk.
-
JD in early rationalization mode.
-
God damnit. No time for a balk.
When is a good time for a balk?
-
I swear Weiland looks like one of the teens always staying at my house
-
Weiland living dangerously. That slider won't carry him. Gotta throw the sinkpiece.
-
Agent Bourn!
-
Clearly Bud Selig is jamming all 3G in the ballpark.
-
When is a good time for a balk?
The obvious answer is never, but being a "glass is always half full" kind of guy, I'll think about it and get back to you.
-
I swear I've had to get up ten goddamn times for the Fuckstick Family next to me and it's only the second inning.
-
I swear I've had to get up ten goddamn times for the Fuckstick Family next to me and it's only the second inning.
looks like there might be some empty seats.
-
9000 posts. congrats
Congrats indeed. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBtpyeLxVkI)
-
looks like there might be some empty seats.
Maybe I can throw them to some.
-
High zone tonight.
-
The strike zone is odd. I thought the previous pitch was in there, but it was a ball. That one was high and outside (from my bad view), but called.
-
We have to get to Hanson now. He's not sharp yet.
-
Damn it, Snyder. Elevate, man.
-
Fucking Larry Wayne.
-
I swear I've had to get up ten goddamn times for the Fuckstick Family next to me and it's only the second inning.
Move, dumbass.
-
You know McCann was sweating that confrontation at the plate. Lee didn't kill him, though.
-
Move, dumbass.
No way. I'm in the front row.
-
What a clutch fucking hit on an 0-2 pitch.
-
I realy like Gonzalez.
-
I realy like Gonzalez.
+1
-
Is sending Lee in that situation customary?
-
For posterity, 1-0 Colts after 2
-
Is sending Lee in that situation customary?
Intimidation.
-
Is sending Lee in that situation customary?
With one out and the seven hole up, probably not.
-
For posterity, 1-0 Colts after 2
Go Gunners! "Shoot, shoot, shoot!" for the home team!
-
CJ's slide was the best damn thing I've seen in a long time.
-
I have to say it: those unis look damn fine.
-
Where was the 2-1 pitch, Blue?
-
I have to say it: those unis look damn fine.
Did I mention the uniforms look nice?
-
Weiland finishes differently on his fastball than on the curve. And little Junior just spilled half of his gallon bag of popcorn.
-
Where was the 2-1 pitch, Blue?
No low strike, and Wiland doesn't look like he wants to try the high zone.
-
Big strikeout of a tough hitter.
-
Did I mention the uniforms look nice?
You expect me to read the entire thread? Plus, I've got you on ignore.
-
For posterity, 1-0 Colts after 2
thanks. How?
-
Weiland finishes differently on his fastball than on the curve. And little Junior just spilled half of his gallon bag of popcorn.
He'll pay for that eventually.
-
You expect me to read the entire thread? Plus, I've got you on ignore.
I ignore me, too.
-
Schreefer is no Bourn.
-
He'll pay for that eventually.
I think spilling popcorn is more of an immediate consequence.
-
Shit that looked close.
-
Larry Wayne. Fuckity mcfuck fuck.
-
thanks. How?
A runner crossed home plate....
sorry. I'm doing chores and trying to keep up.
-
Gonna have to drive a stake into that fucker, he's not going easily.
-
Marwin has a dadgum cannon, even though he didn't make the play.
-
Glad there's some goddamn Braves fans here to enjoy that and provide a game's worth of commentary.
-
Twelve.
-
3-1 braves in the middle of the 3rd. good plays and a chipper hr got them there.
Someone who isn't doing 5 things needs to be trying some kind of pbp.
I'm not very good at this and I'm too sober.
-
A runner crossed home plate....
sorry. I'm doing chores and trying to keep up.
Its ok. I am at my son's baseball game.
-
C'mon, guys. Let's put up a crooked number.
-
13.
-
We've got to get to Hanson now. He wants no part of Lee.
-
Stay within yourself, Bogey.
-
Make em pay, Bogey.
-
Love the organ tonight.
-
Bogey sucks
-
Where was that low pitch earlier, Meals?
-
Did I mention the uniforms look nice?
Somebody take a fucking picture. It's the only way we'll get to see them here.
-
FUUUUUUUCK.
-
Where was that low pitch earlier, Meals?
Braves style umpiring?
-
Fuck. Me.
-
Uniforms look nice.
-
I will not cuss, no matter how much I would like to.
-
Uniforms look nice.
I like the uniforms.
-
I will not cuss, no matter how much I would like to.
If you can't say something nice . . .
-
14. 15 soon.
-
Somebody take a fucking picture. It's the only way we'll get to see them here.
Channel 77
-
14. 15 soon.
Have ou shown them the gun on your jersey yet?
-
BTW - Mr. Brand's lustful posting of Ms. Smith is vindicated. She does look somewhat yummy tonight. Must be the old cogger in me speaking.
-
"Ron Brand is here, representing the Yankees"
-
Ron Brand is also in the house. Wait. He's here with us.
-
C'mon Weiland.
-
Have ou shown them the gun on your jersey yet?
If I catch a home run ball and the crowd does that to me, I'm giving them the Kenny Powers salute, both barrels.
-
4-1 in the top of the 4th. Not sure how. Colt .45s not winning.
-
Weiland is pitching scared. Time for a visit.
-
Tough to double up Bourn.
-
4-1 in the top of the 4th. Not sure how.
Weiland I think.
-
Weiland is holding that slider too long.
-
Snyder!!!
-
Agent Bourn!
-
What the hell was that? A unicorn?
-
Tough to double up Bourn.
Lee (with Colt on the front of his jersey and 45 o the back) has taken out players before.
-
That slider is hanging.
-
What a play by Lee. Dumbass Braves hitter stopped running.
-
That slider is hanging.
Yeah, it worked when it was down but he's searching now.
-
What a play by Lee.
yes
-
17.
-
Hanson is looking sharp now.
-
Larry Wayne is everywhere.
-
17.
Check your back. You may be wearing your kick me sign.
-
Hanson is looking sharp now.
With a lead and nice strike zone? Yes, he is.
-
Check your back. You may be wearing your kick me sign.
And it's one family of three.
-
With a lead and nice strike zone? Yes, he is.
The difference is that he's throwing strikes with that breaking stuff. He's going to go six or so tonight. Too many pitches earlier to last longer than that.
-
Freeman on tap for a golden sombrero.
-
Freeman on tap for a golden sombrero.
Really surprised he was behind on that high slider.
-
Weiland is pitching scared of Larry Wayne.
-
Weiland is pitching scared of Larry Wayne.
Is he pitching scared or does he have little control of his pitches
-
Is he pitching scared or does he have little control of his pitches
Nope. His command isn't good, but I've seen some body language of Weiland that leads me to conclude that he was. I recognize that look.
-
Really surprised he was behind on that high slider.
Bat looks real slow tonight, doesn't it?
-
Nice toss, McCann.
-
That slider has gotten Martinez all night.
-
C'mon JD. You looked like shit on that swing.
-
C'mon JD. You looked like shit on that swing.
Schreefer trying to manufacture a run.
-
Carlos!!!
-
It's Bogey time.
-
Huge at bat by Lee.
-
Carlos!!!
that's Carlos "Contract Year" to you.
-
Hanson lost what he had in the last inning. He is closing in on 100 tosses. He's showing signs of fatigue.
-
So it's throwback organ night. I like it.
-
Hanson wasn't even close. McDowell has to come out here.
-
Like to see CJ catch a hanger
-
Make 'em pay, CJ!
-
Like to see CJ catch a hanger
Ahhh that was it. Thought he could have hammered the 4th pitch, but he took it
-
God damnit.
-
Ahhh that was it. Thouhgt he could have hammered the 4th pitch, but he took it
Yup, he watched the meat ball, and then swung at the killer.
-
Awful at bat by Johnson. Left two runners on, didnt make the pitcher even throw a strike. Nobody on this team can hit a curveball.
-
The Fraga family! What a great Houston family.
-
Yup, he watched the meat ball, and then swung at the killer.
That 71 mph hook is harder to hit than it looks. He thought (as did I) that the pitch was high.
-
Turns out little junior is a Communist too. He'd rather play soccer this year than little league.
-
Awful at bat by Johnson. Left two runners on, didnt make the pitcher even throw a strike. Nobody on this team can hit a curveball.
Yep. Not his finest hour.
-
Turns out little junior is a Communist too. He'd rather play soccer this year than little league.
Fucking Europeans.
-
Way to pitch, Lyon.
-
Lyon was keeping the ball down tonight and I actually saw a little movement, which is my big problem with Lyon: little movement.
-
In other news, Petrino is out at Arkansas.
-
159 people applied for the state job he hired his side piece for.
-
God damnit. Even when Larry Wayne fucks up, he gets bailed out.
-
"Yeah, I remember watching Chipper Jones beat a team almost by himself."
-
Another good two strike swing by Gonzalez.
-
Nice AB from Maxwell, but it goes for naught. 4-2 Bravos Top 7
-
Carpenter on to pitch in top 7.
-
There's that high strike from Meals again.
-
Family argument just prior to 18. Oh. 19.
-
Pops just asked if I was scoring the game on my phone. "Sorta."
-
Can't hold Bourn down all night.
-
159 people applied for the state job he hired his side piece for.
I bet that they investigate that one too.
-
Pops just asked if I was scoring the game on my phone. "Sorta."
Tell him that you're watching internet porn.
-
Tell him that you're watching internet porn.
Nuts. Wish I'd done that.
We've seen SBB do that before.
-
Shit, Carlos. But it was Bourn coming down the line.
-
Carpenter doesn't look too good tonight.
-
20. They leave for ice cream, come back with nachos instead. That means dessert comes later.
-
5-2 Bottom 7
-
Fuck!!!! If I was still drinking, the ushers would have me en route to Houston's finest.
-
20. They leave for ice cream, come back with nachos instead. That means dessert comes later.
Maybe you should start discussing penis tattoos.
-
20. They leave for ice cream, come back with nachos instead. That means dessert comes later.
You missed the Dierker shot at Drayton... [Along the lines of]: "One thing I like about the new ownership is they are not coming in telling you the 2012 Astros are going to be 'Champions'." NICE!
-
Schreefer strikes again. That was a good defensive 0-2 swing against a good pitch.
-
You missed the Dierker shot at Drayton... [Along the lines of]: "One thing I like about the new ownership is they are not coming in telling you the 2012 Astros are going to be 'Champions'." NICE!
I caught that. Dierk doesn't mince his words.
-
A seeing eye single has us set up with runners on the corners and no outs.
-
Schreefer has had a real fine night.
-
CArlos strikes again!!! 5-3 with runners on the corners and no outs.
-
Caballo!
-
Darned, thought Carlos had that one!!! C'mon boys, keep it going!
-
Damn, Kablong was mere feet from tying it up.
-
Schreefer has had a real fine night.
I don't know what he's smoking, but we need to get some for everybody else.
-
I guarantee you that Medlin was grumbling about some of the balls and strikes calls tonight. Meals has been poor.
-
You missed the Dierker shot at Drayton... [Along the lines of]: "One thing I like about the new ownership is they are not coming in telling you the 2012 Astros are going to be 'Champions'." NICE!
+1 Dierk
-
I don't know what he's smoking, but we need to get some for everybody else.
Oh, we KNOW what he's smoking.
-
Good call on Downs for Bogey, even if Downs doesn't come through.
-
+1 Dierk
Pretty sure he had a couple more in there as well, but don't recall 'em off hand. [In fact I'm sure that he did].
-
Come on, CJ!!!!
-
CJ produces!!! 5-4 with two out and runners on 1B and 2B.
-
There we go CJ! Keep 'r going' boys!
-
Fuck. 5-4 Top 8.
-
Fuck. 5-4 Top 8.
No fuck. Gotta save some drama.
-
We got Larry Wayne out!!! Woo hoo!
-
We got Larry Wayne out!!! Woo hoo!
Where was that pitch, Meals?
-
Now fuck.
-
It's been a while since I sat out here. It's a forest of loud assholes who aren't funny. I guess they were going for the Bleacher Bum experience.
-
I know the shift on Hinske worked last night, but down 1 with a runner on 2nd scares me.
ETA, fuck.
-
20. They leave for ice cream, come back with nachos instead. That means dessert comes later.
You know it could be worse. They could be rooting for the Braves.
-
You know it could be worse. They could be rooting for the Braves.
Like the people behind me.
-
The Fraga family! What a great Houston family.
Felix Fraga was a good friend of my Dad back in the days in 2nd Ward. Came to my Dad's funeral to pay his respects even after all those years of losing touch. Somehow he found out and came to the funeral services.
-
I know the shift on Hinske worked last night, but down 1 with a runner on 2nd scares me.
ETA, fuck.
Gotta play the percentages. However, Lopez missed his spot and threw it outside, which gave Hinske a chance to pole it to LF.
-
Oh good. Juniors mom has put her pudgy, tattooed cloven hooves on the rail next to me.
-
Gonzalez is having a good AB against a nasty lefty.
-
This Gonzalez kid is impressive.
-
Great walk by Marwin.
-

He's a great guy. And it is a good baseball family.
-
Gonzalez came back after a 1-2 count to work that walk.
-
Oh good. Juniors mom has put her pudgy, tattooed cloven hooves on the rail next to me.
107 looks pretty empty.
-
Meals sucks bad tonight.
-
From 350 feet away, this is one horseshit umpire.
-
C'mon JD.
-
The Altuve singles. Two outs with JD coming up.
-
107 looks pretty empty.
My bitching doesn't entertain you?
-
From 350 feet away, this is one horseshit umpire.
His calls are for the most part right on FoxTraks. However, on the pitches that they haven't checked, Meals has been very inconsistent.
-
My bitching doesn't entertain you?
Naw, it's been great. I'm just glad I'm not there.
-
Filthy.
-
Filthy.
+1. Venters obviously learned something from Gas Can.
-
Hundreds streaming out after that weak AB.
-
He's a great guy. And it is a good baseball family.
My uncle Hector took over for my Dad in his Gulf Coast league team, and soon afterwards my uncle started a pony league squad (that I was not a part of because we moved out of 2nd Ward). But my uncle was having a hard time finding a league to play in and also a practice facility for the team. My dad called Felix and soon they were practicing at Ripley House and soon afterwards, the 2nd Ward had a full fledged pony league going on. One of the best in Houston at the time.
I never played in that league because it would have meant taking three city buses to get down there in time to play. Too bad, but that is the type of guy Felix was for our family. He loved talking baseball with my dad too. Both big Astros fans as well.
-
JD is going to see a lot of sliders for a while
-
Sit down, Freeman.
-
Schreefer made a nice catch but his route to the ball wasn't pretty.
-

His son Bolivar ran for city council this year. Lost, but a fine young man. It was easy to tell people I was supporting Bolivar because Felix had always been so kind to me. Nice play by Schreefer.
-
Bloop and a blast
-
6-4 Bottom 9 with Kimbrell coming on. Bravos bully is pretty tough.
-
RB, did that family go for dessert yet?
-
JD is going to see a lot of sliders for a while
I wouldn't throw him a fastball strike. Ever.
-
Alright, Bucky!!! Let's make them pay.
-
2-1 Gotta look heater.
-
Time to send 'em home happy here boys!!!
-
Alright, CJ!!! Let's do it.
-
CJ!
-
Shit CJ.
-
Bah swung at ball 1 for the dp
-
RB, did that family go for dessert yet?
They just left.
-
6-4 Shitfuck. Ballgame.
-
Fuckshit.
-
Somebody get that hat back from Larry
-
Perhaps I should have clarified... I wanted 'em to send Astros fans home happy...
-
Valiant effort.
RB - you're 0fer so far. Das is getting jealous.
-
A Jack Wilson sighting. Well, well, well....
-
The good news, folks, is that this club is scrapping and hungry. They played another tough game tonight. The bats were popping.
-
I like the uniforms.
-
I like the uniforms.
+1 The unis rock.
-
Their ace against the Astros 5th starter. And it was a close ball game. Can't complain
-
Their ace against the Astros 5th starter. And it was a close ball game. Can't complain
That's absolutely right. I like this club. It may well lose 95 games, but I like this team. They're playing the game the way it is supposed to be played.

The good news, folks, is that this club is scrapping and hungry. They played another tough game tonight. The bats were popping.
I dunno Mr. H. A couple things that I thought of:
1. This team cannot afford to be in a sluggfest against other teams. They must get good pitching to stay in games, if they try to play this way all season, they're going to repeat last year's woeful season easily.
2. Carlos Lee's propensity to not hustle out of the box probably cost the team one run (probably). All in all, not a good thing to have the veteran leader of the team *not* hustle out of the box.
3. Synder was in a weird position to catch the ball from Gonzales on the slow as molasses McCann. Too bad because Marwin did a nice job catching and throwing on the relay and Synder just has to be better at rewarding the young man by doing his part and being in front of the plate, not behind it.
But I will say this, they didn't give up... but they also put themselves in this hole by not playing the game as good as they could have either. Hopefully they'll learn to not take nights off like this and give a team a win instead of making them earn it.

I agree with all of your points. Carlos doesn't hustle sometimes, but he made some key plays tonight.
-
RB - you're 0fer so far. Das is getting jealous.
Right. I go to one more game than you, and I'm a jinx?
-
Right. I go to one more game than you, and I'm a jinx?
At least Neil knows who you are...
-
His son Bolivar ran for city council this year. Lost, but a fine young man. It was easy to tell people I was supporting Bolivar because Felix had always been so kind to me. Nice play by Schreefer.
If Bolivar was the democrat gay mexican jewish air force veteran but registered as a republican son of a long time city councilman, then I voted for him.
-
At least Neil knows who you are...
Yeah, but is that a blessing or a curse?!?
-
At least Neil knows who you are...
Fuck off Matt.
-
If Bolivar was the democrat gay mexican jewish air force veteran but registered as a republican son of a long time city councilman, then I voted for him.
Yeah An African American Republican won, and Bolivar lost the GLBT Caucus endorsement to a transgender lesbian.
I think it was Christi Thibaut supporters who said he was a Republican--you don't register in Texas but he had voted in the Republican primary once or twice. I hadn't known that the Democrats were still holding primaries in Texas. I don't think Bolivar is Jewish though, only your typical Democrat gay Mexican Air Force Academy graduate who had voted in a couple of Repulican primaries. For judges, he said. Who the heck knows who's running for judge?
There are two Fraga brothers I've met, Lupe and Felix. As I recall one family member played baseball at A&M and one played baseball at U of H.
-
Fuck off Matt.
Hey! I thought you didn't know my name!
-
Hey! I thought you didn't know my name!
Who are you? I was talking to the younger Raup.

Yeah, he voted for a friend in the republican primary in 2010.
As for the Jewish thing, I looked back in my voting notes from the recent municipal election and dug up that Fraga received the 2010 "Emerging Leaders Certificate" from the American Jewish Committee & Consulate of Mexico in Houston. I knew he wasn't Mexican (citizenship-wise) so I just assumed on top of his many labels he was Jewish too.
Who the heck knows who's running for judge?
I do!
-
Who are you? I was talking to the younger Raup.
Its Fred, dumbass!
-

Felix was a big UofH supporter/fan, so I'm guessing Lupe was the one who went to A&M. Felix also got some of my cousins involved in local politics, so a couple of them ran for positions, knowing full well they were not going to oust the incumbent. It was, at best, a lesson on getting involved and putting yourself out there. Very proud of the involvement my cousins put into it.
