Greatest voice I've ever heard, and she threw it all away.  Goddamned drugs.

RIP.

Best anthem in the history of ever. Best thing about Whitney Houston.

Poor Whitney, she was so gifted, she could have had it all. She was so beautiful and possessed one of the greatest voices ever, she had life on a silver platter and then, someone (Bobby?) put a crack pipe on it.

If there is a hell, I'm pretty sure Mr. Brown will be paying a visit.

Awesome legs.

Not her fault, but her National Anthem inadvertantly spawned a generation of over-emotive, wildly histrionic (and very poor) imitators.

Alas.  Too much too soon.

Why is Brown responsible for Houston's crack habit?

Try and keep up. He gave her the disease.

He's responsible for being an all around dirt bag.

Speaking of which, did Chris Brown seriously perform a Rihanna song tonight?

Which has nothing to do with Whitney Houston's drug habit.  She's responsible for that.

That whole situation is so messed up.

Back on track... Whitney's isolated vocal track from "How Will I Know" (http://jakefogelnest.com/post/17460767716).  What an unreal talent.

Almost sounds like an American Idol audition at the beginning.  And if it was, they could just end the season right there.

2009 Bill Simmons agrees with you. (http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/43404/from-the-mailbag-bill-simmons-on-whitney-and-squandered-brilliance-circa-2009)

I agree, but by omission you wouldn't be suggesting that her ex-husband should get a pass on their journey together down the addiction highway, would you?

She was the best female vocalist I ever heard, bar none.

I was at that Super Bowl, and we all sort of looked at each other like, "Wow, what was THAT?"

I'm suggesting that each are responsible for their own journeys.

BTW, latest info suggests it was a combination of Xanax and alcohol that did her in.  However, I'm sure that's Brown's fault as well.

Xanax and alcohol plus the hot water is what I heard. She may have been gone before she was submerged.

Terrible shame to see her health decline over the years. She had a fantastic talent.

After all the cocaine varieties she and her ex-husband were alleged to have done, that combo probably seemed like Tylenol and ginger ale to her.  Madness!
