First three hitters single. 1-0 Cubs already, with runners on the corners.

Why the fuck was lardass trying to run home?
-
Astros get one back, but Lee is thrown out easily at the plate--don't know what Dave Clark was thinking there. 2-1 Top 2

Was anyone thinking there? Geez...he was out by 30 feet...

Maybe he was thinking that Carlos is twice the size of the Cubs catcher, and surely he'd at least try to knock the ball loose, instead of just meekly sliding into the tag?

Betting against Soriano isn't necessarily a bad strategy.
-
Betting against Soriano isn't necessarily a bad strategy.
It's a short field and a old fat ass running. Even Soriano could hit the cutoff man from there. Plus, Clark couldn't see the play in the corner. It was an indefensible boner.
-
Astros get nothing in the bottom of the second. 2-1 Cubs Top 3
-
We could always talk Texans football....?
-
Also, FTC.
-
Nice catch by Boojy. Or Wahjy. Or Boojywahjy.
-
Ole!
-
Barmes has been making some errors lately. But no damage. 2-1 Bottom 3
-
Altuve is starting to try to pull everything, which I think is a mistake. Astros go down in order. 2-1 Cubs Top 4

We get nothing in bottom 4. 2-1 Top 5

Cubs get nada. 2-1 Cubs Bottom 5

I stopped there. I need to be able to sleep without medication.

I agree. Shuck hits a 2B to RCF.

Shuck scores on Q sacrifice fly. 4-2. Downs pinch hitting for Myers.

Well, Millsie fools me and yanks Downs back and sends Sanchez up as pinch hitter. He grounds out easily. 4-2 Top 8

Walk off GS for Bog... A blast to left center
-
Just your regular ninth inning, culminating with a walkoff grand slam off of Marmol. 6-5 US BALLGAME
-
Just checking in to say I'm still watching, and fuck the cubs.
-
awesome hit for the win. so glad they kept marmol in the game. the boys needed that. hope they beat the cubs again tomorrow.
-
Wow, am I ever glad I decided to turn the game back on! Just in time to see Downs' AB.
That has to be a pretty fuckin' awesome feeling for Bogusevic. Even if his MLB career never amounts to much, not too many guys can say they've hit a walk-off grand slam, down by 3 in the bottom of the 9th inning. Wow.
-
Hey, and was that An-Rod's first MLB win?

Apparently. FTC via marmalade is one of my preferred FTC methods

Games like that make me smile at the people who "had enough" and went to bed early.
-
Holy shit!!
Fucked the cubs.
-
Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck of a night to come back and finish watching the game. WAY TO GO BOGUSEVIC!!!
-
Was rewatching the highlights this morning...entertaining to see Altuve trying to grab a batting helmet out from under the home plate celebratory scrum. Wouldn't want anyone to sprain an ankle.

My sentiments entirely. Even when I go to bed, the game is on in the bedroom. I love me some Astros. It doesn't matter whether they are great or awful.
-
Am I the only one who is wondering if Bogusevic might have turned a corner lately?

JD seems to think he might be turning that corner. At least that was the impression I got last night listening to him.

He's raised his average from .205 to .290 in his last 10 games.
-
For his sake, and ours, I hope he turned the corner and keeps going.

Well, it was in the recap the other day (http://www.spikesnstars.com/2011/08/14/good-morning-heres-the-news/) but that would mean going to the front page and we all know that's not going to happen. It doesn't even exist.
Bogusevic has discovered a power stroke and maybe things are coming together for him. He’s hitting .288.
-
Mills called the shot (http://blog.chron.com/ultimateastros/2011/08/16/astros-6-cubs-5-walk-off-grand-slam-by-bogusevic-snatches-victory-from-jaws-of-yet-another-defeat/)
Brian Bogusevic swung mightily twice and did no damage.
About then, Astros manager Brad Mills decided Chicago Cubs closer Carlos Marmol was right where Bogusevic wanted him. Mills turned to bench coach Al Pedrique and called the shot to center field that turned into a game-ending, pinch-hit grand slam and a 6-5 victory on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.
“I told Al, ‘He’s going to hit it over the Corona Light sign in left field,’ ” Mills said. “He pulled it a little bit more, but I’ll take it. That was just tremendous. The way he was swinging, it looked pretty good.”

Nice that he is still optimistic. I was satisfied when the tying run came to the plate. The rest was gravy.
