Boras rips into La Russa (http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/15/scott-boras-rips-tony-la-russa-a-new-one/)
I say we let them settle this in a steel cage.
And take away the key.
And set the damn thing on fire.

Mad Max?
I'm thinking more old school... as in Spartacus:
A sword fight to the death. The winner is crucified.

A window into the Pujols negotiations. (http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2011/02/15/the-dugout-st-louis-cardinals-spring-training-2011/) Doesn't seem like either side is flexing.

Before I click on that link, I need some assurance that it's not linking to gay porn. Flexing, indeed... NTTIAWWI.

Consider the source.

Yesterday it was OJ vs a skinhead, today Boras vs Tony. What will tomorrow bring, Dane Cook vs Roseanne Barr? Please.

Lumberjack match, with a coal miner's glove on a pole, and all those previously raped by Boras around the ring.

If I.W. Marks could make even Paul Boesch's ears look pretty, think of what they could've done for yours.

Paul Boesch lived next door to my grandparents in the 60's and 70's. Supposedly he had some pretty interesting houseguests.

Glenn Beck vs. Keith Olbermann.
One can argue the points of view and leanings of Keith O, and I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you he's an editorialist and pundit more than a true newsman, but Glenn Beck is just a fucking lunatic.

oh, please. if you are even considering the possiblilty that KO is a "true newsman," you and Beck may have something in common. i cannot stand to even look at Olberman, much less listen to his drivel, and i am a Dem. he is the Fox News of the left.

Actually, Coach, although I am very conservative, I can't watch Glenn Beck at all. In my opinion, he has really tainted Fox News. I actually find KO entertaining, although I vehemently disagree with virtually everything that comes out of his mouth.
-
My general rule of thumb has been that the 4-7 block = news, and the 7-10 block = entertainment.

If you reread what I posted you'd see that I never implied KO was a newsman. "I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you he's an editorialist and pundit more than a true newsman". He does nothing but preach to the choir that agrees with him. But he's not a lunatic.
And Drew Corleone is correct, at least with MSNBC: their evening shows are opinion, although Rachel Maddow is a pretty good reporter. Otherwise, yes, it's opinion. At least they don't pretend otherwise like some channels.
-
I think KO is absolutely a lunatic, and I also don't think MSNBC is more virtuous than the other cable networks in acknowledging that their evening shows are more news than shtick and lowest-common-denominator pandering.

ah, yes they do. NO different from Fox News.

Darn you people for bringing stuff like news and politics back into the wrestling-baseball tangent. Don't y'all know real life stuff when you see it?

Keith got a job working for Al Gore. This is what Al's people had to say about Keith:
"an acclaimed broadcaster and writer whose verbal pyrotechnics and moral passion have outraged, informed, and dazzled viewers of Countdown With Keith Olbermann for the past eight years” who is “bringing his slashing wit, analytical eye, and distinctive commentary” to the network.
"Dazzled"?
Here's what Keith, who will also serve as the network’s “Chief News Officer” and will have an equity stake in the company, had to say:
“Nothing is more vital to a free America than a free media, and nothing is more vital to my concept of a free media than news produced independently of corporate interference. In Current Media, Al Gore and Joel Hyatt have created the model truth-seeking entity.”
Wow.

You know, back when he did real news at ESPN, he was much more entertaining. Now he just makes me want to punch his face. But to demonstrate my fair and balanced approach, I get the same feeling listening to Rush, Liddy, Beck, and Mr. Current Affair himself O'Reilly. They are simply the opposite sides of the same coin. Maybe we should take this coin , insert it into one of those novelty devices that flatten and stretch the coin into uselessness.
Wow.

My particular point wasn't that KO doesn't rub people the wrong way (I could only watch him occasionally myself when he was on), but that he isn't batshit crazy. He doesn't, for example, believe the Egyptian revolution was staged by the Muslim Brotherhood in cahoots with Obama and US homosexuals in order to further a gay socialist agenda in the US. Glenn Beck does. So it's not an apples to oranges comparasin--it's an apples to fucked up moron comparison.

Holy shit, people. There are pitchers and catchers playing long toss right now, and this is the best we've got?

Glenn Beck: Reform rabbis are the equivalent of radical Islam. (http://www.thejc.com/news/hall-infamy/45606/hall-infamy-glenn-beck)
When you talk about rabbis, understand that most -- most people who are not Jewish don't understand that there are the Orthodox rabbis, and then there are the Reformed rabbis. Reformed rabbis are generally political in nature. It's almost like Islam, radicalized Islam in a way, to where it is just -- radicalized Islam is less about religion than it is about politics. When you look at the Reform Judaism, it is more about politics.

I like the notion of "Reformed rabbis." I guess there's a 12 step program for that?
