In today's Chron, ThunderPants assumes the mantle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/7425161.html) and now picks the tunes for the workout room.
Cognizant of the pecking order in a big league clubhouse, Pence has made it a policy to be seen more than heard. Before last season, though, Pence told Astros general manager Ed Wade, "I know my time is coming." Wade's response: "Have at it. Why not right now?"

It's Official: TTiF
I know Jeff Bagwell, and you sir....
-
The article mentions that he had a good second half, but makes no tie to Baggy's presence with the club. Baggy or no Baggy, he's probably good for .280, 25 HRs, 85 RBIs, .330 OBP, .465 SLG and all the little things that make us get out of the chair for one reason or another. That's not a bad place to be, year in and year out but it means that you need some other guys to do better than that if you expect to win.

There are actually some quotes in that article that seem more mature than the Pence I am used to hearing. We will see......
-
Here's why I don't buy any of the quotes.
I know leaders. I know people who aren't leaders who are in leadership positions.
The leaders generally have a look in their eyes that says something to the effect of "I know what's going on, I have a plan, we're going to accomplish our goal; follow me." The people who aren't leaders have a look in their eyes that says "I ran through a glass door once and god fucking knows, those things could..... HEY A DIME!"
I'll let you guess which one is Pence.
-
Yes, but he does share a trait with some leaders I've known...he never blinks.
-
"Right now, Hunter's the biggest dog."
This team is fucked.

He'll be getting paid like the FotF, anyway. Beaker has won his arbitration case and will make $6.9mm next season. Levine tweets (http://twitter.com/#!/zacharylevine/status/39049034102611968) it so.
