Anyone know anything about SS Jose Fernandez? Youngest player on the roster and started the season batting third.

Hadn't heard of him. Then again, until googling him I hadn't realized the Astros signed 16 international players last year either... LINK (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/justice/6929021.html)

In case you didn't know, Brad James is on rehab assignment in Kissimmee.
-
Collin DeLome is on rehab assignment with the GCL Astros

Brian Pellegrini and Edwin Maysonet were in the lineup for the GCL Astros today. I wonder where Pelegrini gets sent when he is finished rehabbing.

18 South Korean SS prospect Chan Moon (http://www.spikesnstars.com/forums/index.php?topic=109288.msg292558#msg292558) has done decently in limited action in the GCL. stats link (http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=SS&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=578628)

I'd like to him get some more ABs...he seems to have a idea of what he's doing at the plate.

He had a couple more on Thursday and Saturday, going 1-4, 2 SO, CS and 0-1, 1 BB, 1 CS.
Moon's stats (http://): 7 G, 12 AB, 3 R, 4 H, 4 TB, 6 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB, 2 CS, .333 AVG, .556 OBP, .333 SLG, .889 OPS, 7 E
But yes, back to your original premise it'd be nice to see him getting more ABs and game time.

18 YO RHP Jose Perdomo (http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=554058) with the W. Don't know much about the kid, but the line on the season doesn't look half bad...

Levine with some info on SS Jose Fernandez in this week's Minor League Notebook: LINK (http://bit.ly/aEiDcG)
Shortstop Jose Fernandez, 17, has been starting against the competition in the Gulf Coast League, whose average pitcher is approximately 21 years old. The native of the Dominican Republic was deemed advanced enough to eschew the academy life and the Dominican Summer League to play at the first rung of the domestic ladder. Fernandez is hitting .259 for the GCL Astros with five doubles and three triples in 24 games. Assistant general manager Ricky Bennett said there is a lot of room for his body to grow and believes he'll be a 10- to 12-homer player by the time he's developed. But they definitely see him as a shortstop. "He has soft hands, good aptitude and continues to make progress," Bennett said.

Juri Perez made his first appearance of the season last night for GCL Stros since he suffered an elbow injury in 2009
1 IP, 1 K

Ebert Rosario, formerly a 3rd baseman in Lancaster, pitched in last nights game. It wasn't pretty.

Delino DeShields Jr. was the DH for the GCL Stros today. He hit leadoff and went 0-5 with 2K. Something else worth noting, Evan Grills made his first start of the season. His line was 4 IP 6 H 1 R (unearned) 6K.
