Roy just struck out the side. 0-0 through 1
-
Astros go 1-2-3 in the 1st, but Kepp sent Gonazales to the wall to get him.
Oswalt struck out the Rukkakes in repost, all swinging.

How pissed do you think he is that he misses the NYY series?
-
Q is going nuts lately.
-

Oh, he'll get his chance to pitch there.
-
That'a boy, Tommy.
-
What happened with Feliz? According to Yahoo, his at-bat never happened.

He hit a hard chopper to third and Stewart had to range towards the line to get it. He looked at second but Pence was already there, juggled the ball for a second and threw wildly to first. Pence advanced to third on the bad throw.

Thanks. I now see the error against COL in the box score.

Roy with 6 Ks through 3

Just like to point out that I got an ESPN fantasy news update from a guy named "Tristan R. Cockroft." And further down the email there's an article on Strasburg that says J. R. Richard was "disappointing." I guess he was, but only because of injury. What a cockroft!
-
Welcome to your Roy inning.
-
I think Bourn just learned a valuable lesson about slow veterans on the base paths. Helton just schooled him.

Took him to school and left him there.
-
Those 2 are Bourn's.
-
Well, one's Roy's.
-
Terrible, terrible throw from center.
-
Q en fuego!!
-
Q is a beast suddenly
-
You cannot get that weak ass shit by the Q. Hell no.
-
Q!
-
Let me go back to that abomination of a throw. Tulo's on third. Fly to shallow center. Bourn caught the ball running in. It was in a place in center where a rangy shortstop could easily have made the play, it was that shallow. Bourn's momentum is leading him into the throw. I was quite surprised that they sent Tulo on such a shallow fly. Bourn catches the ball cleanly and transfers it cleanly and then bounces the fucking throw on the outfield side of the mound. Four bounces in total to get to Q and the throw was four feet off line besides.
-
Kepp gets rung up on a ball that's about 8 inches inside, just not close.
-
Pence is a goofy motherfucker.
-
The knuckleknobs on the radio are at it again. Pence misses a foul pop in the stands; radio guys brag that 'maybe he gave Roy a chance for another K.' Next pitch, bam, pitcher singles up the middle. Will they ever learn?
-
Could someone give the score, so I don't have to go to the ESPN website.
-
3-2 'stros
-
3-2 'stros
Thank you, good sir.
-
Thats two 4-pitch walks for Hunter. Think their book says he swings at those?
-
3rd hit of the day for Q. Bases loaded, 2 out, Manzella at the plate (O on deck)
... and he drops on in right center for 2 ribeyes!
-
2-run blooper by Manzella, Astros add 2, 5-2 'stros!
-
You mean the Rocky humidor isnt lined with cedar planks? What a letdown.

I got really excited when I heard about the big humidor in Denver. Then I learned they were just storing baseball in it.

Does Downing Street still have a walk-in humidor? Or did it disappear after the smoking ban?
-
Not that I mind, but can someone explain to me WTF Smith was doing bunting?
-
Why is Oswalt out of the game on 96 pitches? Is he hurt?
-
B8: Lopez in for Roy, pitching for the 3rd day in a row. Gives up 3 straight hits, including an RBI single from Tulo. HOU 5, COL 3. 0 out, runners at 1B and 2B. Pitching change coming up.
-
Why is Oswalt out of the game on 96 pitches? Is he hurt?
The Yankees have him on a pitch count.

Why is Lopez still in the game?
-
Well this has gone downhill quick
Lopez gives up three straight singles, scoring 1. Now 1st and 2nd with no outs.
Lopez gets pulled.

He's joining the Pac-10.

Ugliest DP attempt I've seen.

Ugliest DP attempt I've seen.
made to order, too

Daigle gets a grounder to 3B from Olivo, but Feliz double-clutches and only gets the runner at 2B (throw to 1B not in time for the DP). Runner scores, runners at 1B and 3B. Giambi up. HOU 5, COL 4. 2 outs.
-
Fucking double clutch in that situation!? I'm sorry but all reports coming out of ST had Feliz as a stellar defensive third baseman. Let's see it.
-
yes.
-
And Giambi flies out to Bourn on the 3-2 pitch. Inning over. On to the 9th with the Astros leading 5-4.
-
Whew. Giambi is a pop up machine. 5-4 good guys going into the 9th

doesnt have quite enough juice to get it over the wall anymore.

Astros with 2 Ks and a fly out to right to end the top of the 9th. HOU 5, COL 4.
Astros outhit 8 to 4 today, and batters 1-6 without a hit (Q with 3 in the 7 hole and Manzella with 1 batting 8th).

Roy should have tried to go 8 or 9.
-
Lyon in for the 9th (JD wondering if something is wrong with Lindstrom).
Barmes: flies out to Spaz.
B9: 1 out, 0 on. HOU 5, COL 4
-
Is this Lyon's first save opportunity?
-
B9: 1 out, 0 on. HOU 5, COL 4
Ianetta (PH): strikes out swinging on a high riding fastball.
B9: 2 outs, 0 on. HOU 5, COL 4

Send me home happy.

Ballgame: HOU 5, COL 4

So, a 4-game series at Coors yields ONE home run?

one homerun, one grandslam?
Two homers: the slam by Lee, and apparently Q hit one yesterday. I failed to read between the lines in the GZ "Q!" posts.

I know, I was trying to distinguish between the two.

Why is Oswalt out of the game on 96 pitches? Is he hurt?
We had wondered this at the game, too.
The sun was unbearably hot, we all got incredibly sunburned. The stadium was beautiful, the mountain view was incredible. They let you bring in a soft-sided cooler with drinks and food, but no glass containers and no metal cans. And they confiscate sunscreen. It was the first time either me or my kids had been to a MLB stadium as the visiting team. They remarked on how weird it was when Q hit the homerun for the crowd to be so quiet (except for us and the handful of Astros fans in the park.)
-
Confiscate sunscreen? What's the reasoning there?
-
And they confiscate sunscreen.
How on earth can they justify that? It's incredibly easy to get a bad sunburn at altitude. Are they afraid somebody actually has C4 in those tubes instead of sunscreen?
-
Hey, if it helps save just one life...
-
Hey, if it helps save just one life...
But what about the children?
-
Confiscate sunscreen? What's the reasoning there?
I have no idea. I just know they pulled over the couple with 2 young children in front of me and the guy said, "What I'm looking for is sunscreen. You can put it on now, but you have to leave it here." Then I saw a cardboard box labeled "Sunscreen" and a bunch of bottles in it. You could come back after the game and claim it, but you couldn't take it in the park.
I'd gladly leave my sunscreen at home at the MMPUS if I could bring in a soft-sided cooler filled with grub, though.
-
Found this: http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/col/ballpark/col_ballpark_security.jsp
but it doesn't list sunscreen as prohibited.
