Nuts. I thought this was a night game - tuned in to see that in the 7th inning it's 0-0. Q is on first, one out, Bourn up.
-
Bourn hits into a 6-4 FC.
Paulino has allowed four hits through six, one walk.
-
Bourn cut down at 2B even though he appeared to beat the throw and on to the bottom of the 7th, still tied 0-0.
-
Gomes pops up to Kepp, one down. Paulino at 75 pitches through 6.1. Nix up.
-
Nix called out on a high curve framed well by Q and there are two down. Hernandez up.
-
Hernandez walks on Paulino's third 3-2 count of the game. Paulino seems to be falling off the mound to the left a little more.
Janish up.
Paulino still hitting 95 on the FB and at 90 pitches.
-
Janish called out on a low FB away. HPU strike zone appears to be generous.
-
Kepp leads off the 8th against Arthur Rhodes by grounding out to short. One down. Puma up.
-
Puma lines out to 2B, two down. Lee up.
-
Masset in to relieve Rhodes.
-
Lee Ks swinging wildly on a breaking ball far, far outside. On to the bottom of the 8th, still tied 0-0.
-
Heisey PHs for Masset and walks on four pitches that weren't close. Action in the bullpen, Q to the mound.
-
Cabrera sac bunts down the 1B line, one down. Cairo up, Heisey on second.
Mills to the mound, extended chat with Paulino. Paulino convinces him that he should stay in.
-
Oh good. Somebody who's watching the game can describe to me what is happening.
I hate sitting in my office during a holiday weekend sunday.
-
Cairo grounds out 5-3. Two down, Phillips up.
-
Paulino with two excellent sliders away to get two strikes on Phillips, then two VERY close pitches go for balls to get to 3-2 before he ultimately walks. Bruce up, two down, runners on first and second. Paulino close to gassed.
-
96 mph FB on the outside corner but not a lot of movement.
I really like Mills as a manager. He's clearly trying to support Paulino for the fine job he's done today but he's going to have to battle hard to get past Bruce.
-
Groundout to Berkman. Fantastic battling by Paulino. 113 pitches in a tight game.
On to the ninth, 0-0.

First-pitch one-hopper to second. Manzella up as the last hope for Paulino's first win.

Manzella grounds out, 1-3. Bottom of the 9th coming.
-
What a fucking bummer.
-
Dominant four-hit effort by Paulino. Lyon in for the bottom of the 9th. Gomes up.

According to FooterTweet:
[Mills] went out to the mound to lift Paulino but was hoping... That Paulino would fight him on it, which he did. Mills let Paulino know this was his game, and he showed enormous confidence by leaving... ...him in to face Bruce.
