Outstanding pirouette play by Matsui to get Polanco.

I'd like to hate Utley for all the trouble he causes the Astros, but he's a hell of a player. Dammit.

This Phillies lineup is terrifying. There are no easy outs.

I guess it was way too much to hope for a new rotation of commercials today. Gunther's ferocious stare is better than these damn AT&T commercials though.

So far.

Nice running fastball from Halladay.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT that was a good play by Rollins.

Post by: Ron Brand on April 11, 2010, 01:24:39 pm
Kepp hangs tough and strokes a 3-2 fastball into right for a single. One down on Bourn's groundout/pirouette to Rollins, 1-0 Phils.

Shit. Roy hangs a curve that Ibanez hits to RCF. Bourn runs it down but throws wide to second and Ibanez hustles in with a double. Victorino up. Not laughing yet.
Title: Re: 4/11/10 - Roy on Roy violence
Post by: Ron Brand on April 11, 2010, 01:33:21 pm
Victorino lashes a low FB in the hole to right and now it's first and third, no outs. Looked like a good fastball but without much movement.

Roy's throwing darts but they might not be moving much.

I don't see this team winning against Roy Halladay when Cory Sullivan is the #3 hitter. Hurry back, Twinkie.

Roy's curve looks pretty good today but he's already thrown 45 pitches and we're still in the second inning.

"strike 3" looked pretty outside there.
Title: Re: 4/11/10 - Roy on Roy violence
Post by: Ron Brand on April 11, 2010, 01:48:34 pm
WTF?

A strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play ends the inning. Either Feliz went without a green light, or Matsui missed a sign and stood there with the bat on his shoulder.

You thought so? I can't replay it but it looked like a strike to me.

Catcher had to reach for it as he was coming out of his crouch. The back-side replay, looked wide.

No excuse for not swinging the bat on Matsui though. gotta foul it off and protect the runner.

And it's a good thing. Oswalt is seriously struggling with location right now.

Same as his first start. He's got the speed but the location is spotty early on. Looks like he's getting a little more movement on the fastball though.

Post by: Ron Brand on April 11, 2010, 01:57:34 pm
Polanco, who was on first, runs all the way to third on a short flyout to Bourn. Bourn lobs the ball to first for the easy double play. If that one doesn't cost Polanco in the kangaroo court he must be the judge.

Bourn sneaks a single into right past Howard. One on, two out and Kepp up.

I was too stunned by the sight of Dickie Thon in the stadium to see what Oswalt did, but it resulted in an out.

He was hitting his birdie putt on the second, when a leaf - on a virtually windless day and from a tree at least 30 yards away from the green - landed right in his path.  The ball hit the leaf, bounced left, and cost him a sure birdie.

Pence isn't changing, don't hold your breath on that one.

Blum isn't going to be a plus hitter anymore, that's just the truth.

Towles is pretty awful so far, but I didn't expect much from him anyway.

J-Mike is up.

The Astros came out with a calendar this year featuring players and their pets.  Every picture, save one, is a player chilling with their dog.  For some reason, one of Keppinger's dogs is in some sort of doggie-wheelchair.

Jason Michaels, however, is lying down in the outfield grass clutching a terrified cat.

It can't get any worse than losing every game. But it's going to be a VERY long season. They will need a lot of luck to not lose 100 games.

This team is playing like what it is. I wouldn't describe it as fetid shit, but if you're expecting a team with this lineup, this pitching and this bullpen to suddenly turn into a contender, it's going to be a particularly long season for you personally. This is simply a very poor team. It is what it is.

I'm thinking that losing somewhere in the 90's, though, is a distinct possibility. Millsie needs to fire the team up by getting run in a home game, not.
