Pence not playing. Sullivan playing right, hitting third.
-
Leadoff homer for Rollins.
Ugh.
-
This could be a nice day off for Hunter.
-
Outstanding pirouette play by Matsui to get Polanco.
-
I'd like to hate Utley for all the trouble he causes the Astros, but he's a hell of a player. Dammit.
-
This Phillies lineup is terrifying. There are no easy outs.
-

I don't see why that should stop you.
-
I don't see why that should stop you.
Nah, he plays the game the way it's supposed to be played. Can't hate a guy for that.
-
So much going on today... FYI, Strasburg's first game can be found on expn3.com
-
I guess it was way too much to hope for a new rotation of commercials today. Gunther's ferocious stare is better than these damn AT&T commercials though.
So far.
-
Nice running fastball from Halladay.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT that was a good play by Rollins.
-
Kepp hangs tough and strokes a 3-2 fastball into right for a single. One down on Bourn's groundout/pirouette to Rollins, 1-0 Phils.
-
Sullivan fooled on a high FB and it's chipped into CF for the second out. Lee up.
-
That's not the Carlos Lee we know
-
Damn, once again Lee goes fishing on a slider way outside and strikes out to end the first inning.
-
That's not the Carlos Lee we know
Yeah, he just doesn't seem comfortable at the plate at all.
-
Shit. Roy hangs a curve that Ibanez hits to RCF. Bourn runs it down but throws wide to second and Ibanez hustles in with a double. Victorino up. Not laughing yet.
-
Victorino lashes a low FB in the hole to right and now it's first and third, no outs. Looked like a good fastball but without much movement.
Roy's throwing darts but they might not be moving much.
-
I don't see this team winning against Roy Halladay when Cory Sullivan is the #3 hitter. Hurry back, Twinkie.
-
I wouldn't expect Polanco to be batting .950 either. Anything can happen.
-
Roy's curve looks pretty good today but he's already thrown 45 pitches and we're still in the second inning.
-
Rollins flies out to center and we go to the bottom of the 2nd, Phils up 2-0.
-
Blum grounds out to the mound. One down.
Dunno if we've got any SnS representatives at the game, but the stands look pretty empty.
-
Hey! Feliz with a single smoked into CF. Matsui up.
-
what the fuuuuuuuuuck was that?
-
"strike 3" looked pretty outside there.
-
WTF?
A strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play ends the inning. Either Feliz went without a green light, or Matsui missed a sign and stood there with the bat on his shoulder.
-
"strike 3" looked pretty outside there.
You thought so? I can't replay it but it looked like a strike to me.
-
You thought so? I can't replay it but it looked like a strike to me.
Catcher had to reach for it as he was coming out of his crouch. The back-side replay, looked wide.
No excuse for not swinging the bat on Matsui though. gotta foul it off and protect the runner.
-
Now THAT strike two call on Polanco was six inches outside...
-
Now THAT strike two call on Polanco was six inches outside...
And it's a good thing. Oswalt is seriously struggling with location right now.
-
And it's a good thing. Oswalt is seriously struggling with location right now.
Same as his first start. He's got the speed but the location is spotty early on. Looks like he's getting a little more movement on the fastball though.
-
Polanco, who was on first, runs all the way to third on a short flyout to Bourn. Bourn lobs the ball to first for the easy double play. If that one doesn't cost Polanco in the kangaroo court he must be the judge.
-
And Howard whiffs on Roy curveballs for the second time. On to the bottom of the 3rd.
-
Towles rolls out to short for the first out.
-
Bourn sneaks a single into right past Howard. One on, two out and Kepp up.
I was too stunned by the sight of Dickie Thon in the stadium to see what Oswalt did, but it resulted in an out.
-
Kepp lines out to Utley to end the third, Astros still down 2-0.
-
Werth K's on a fastball up and in, one down.
-
And a first-pitch flyout to Bourn makes it two down, Victorino up.
-
Quick groundout to Matsui makes this a short inning for Roy. Time to get some runs.
-
The golf gods just bitch slapped Mickelson.
-
What happened?
-
Sullivan grounds out to Howard, one down. Lee up.
-
The golf gods just bitch slapped Mickelson.
That was wild. If he loses by one...
-
The golf gods just bitch slapped Mickelson.
hey bench, my sister works at dewey & leboeuf in new york
-
What happened?
-
WTF Carlos? He looks pencian in his strikeouts.
-
Lee fishes again for a breaking ball WAY outside for strike three. Two down.
-
What happened?
RIGHT as he putted, a pine tree stamen fell from the sky onto his line, kicked his putt offline.
-
Blum flies out to right to end the inning.
-
What happened?
He was hitting his birdie putt on the second, when a leaf - on a virtually windless day and from a tree at least 30 yards away from the green - landed right in his path. The ball hit the leaf, bounced left, and cost him a sure birdie.
-
hey bench, my sister works at dewey & leboeuf in new york
It took me a while to figure out the context, but now I get it. Thanks.
-
Roy blows Ruiz' mind with a slow curve for strike 3. One down.
-
Roy blows Ruiz' mind with a slow curve for strike 3. One down.
He's really settled in as the game has wore on.
-
My first wenture into the GameZone for 2010. 2 K's looking for Oswalt this inning.
-
Halladay fans, and Rollins strokes a single to center.
-
Maybe I will be good luck for them.
-
Blum comes up with a liner for the third out!
-
Flipped over to the Boston/KC game and they were showing two hot lesbians in the stands.
-
Flipped over to the Boston/KC game and they were showing two hot lesbians in the stands.
NOW you tell us.
-
Feliz whiffs weakly on Halladay's nasty curve, one down in the bottom of the fifth.
-
Matsui bunts down the third base line but Polanco throws him out. Two down.
Fulchino up in the pen, Towles at bat.
-
Bad bunt by Kaz.
-
Nasty curve.
-
Towles is way out in front of a curve for the third out. On to the sixth, still 2-0 Phils.
-
Nasty curve.
Yeah, Halladay's got all his stuff working today. And the Astros aren't putting up a lot of a fight.
-
Meanwhile back at the Boston/KC game they are not showing lesbians.
-
This team really needs a bopper in the 3 hole.
Good play by Blum.
-
Blum snares a smash by Utley and beats him to the bag, one down. Nice play.
-
Halladay rubs a booger in his hair. The secret to his success?
-
Howard's up. Roy still throwing 95, but Howard's got to be looking curveball.
-
This team really needs a bopper in the 3 hole.
Good play by Blum.
This team needs a serious overhaul.
A bopper in the 3 hole doesn't do much with nobody on base.
-
Howard fouls off two strike three curveballs and then flies out to left. Two down.
-
I agree with the overhaul need. I just don't think we will see one.
-
Werth walks on four straight. Ibanez up.
-
Oswalt needs 8 wins to become the all-time leader for Astros pitchers.
-
I agree with the overhaul need. I just don't think we will see one.
Nope, this is a work in progress.
-
This umpire has no idea where the outside corner is.

that was the same fucking pitch location he rang up Matsui on the Feliz steal attempt.
-
that was the same fucking pitch location he rang up Matsui on the Feliz steal attempt.
Yup.
-
This team needs a serious overhaul.
A bopper in the 3 hole doesn't do much with nobody on base.
They just need an overhaul in performance, not in talent.
Yes, bartender. I'll have another.
-
Oswalt pitched a good un today.
-
Meanwhile, Tiger needs to improve his lay.
-
They just need an overhaul in performance, not in talent.
Yes, bartender. I'll have another.
Carlos needs to figure out what the fuck he's doing.
Pence isn't changing, don't hold your breath on that one.
Blum isn't going to be a plus hitter anymore, that's just the truth.
Towles is pretty awful so far, but I didn't expect much from him anyway.
Matsui is what he is... a decent contact hitter, but nothing spectacular.
MB needs to get on base more.
And the bullpen. Ugh.
-
Meanwhile, Tiger needs to improve his lay.
At least in quality if not in quantity.
-
I don't know if anyone needs or wants my meager PBP, but I had to step out for a bit and didn't catch the rest of the inning.
If nobody wants PBP, I'll relax.
-

Bartender, I'm going to need to buy Mark another one as well.
-
This umpire has no idea where the outside corner is.
Looks like he found it when Halladay took the mound. Hit for Johnson.
-
Bourn making things happen.
C'mon boys.
-
I don't know if anyone needs or wants my meager PBP, but I had to step out for a bit and didn't catch the rest of the inning.
If nobody wants PBP, I'll relax.
Bring it on home, Brandie.
-
CJ - the first Astro to make it to second base today.
CJ and Bourn on, Kepp up. No outs.
-
Bartender, I'm going to need to buy Mark another one as well.
Better make it a double.
And wow, thanks Halladay.
-
Astros cheated Death on that play.
-
Not a great bunt, but Halladay tried to get the force at third and Polanco bobbled it.
Bases loaded, no outs. The mighty three hitter at the plate.
-
Astros cheated Death on that play.
The Astros are displaying a ruthless bunting attack.
-
2 bad throws by Halladay and they are loaded for our 3 hole hitter, Cory Sullivan.
-
Go get 'em, Sully!
-
Weak 6-3 DP. Gets a run in and Bourn to third.
Two outs.
-
Go get 'em, Sully!
Goddamn, that was brutal.
-
Need some help from El Kabong here.
-
And he promptly hits into a DP. Run scores though.
-
If history is an indicator all Halladay has to do is throw a curve ball out somewhere around the State Farm sign and the inning will be over.
-
Holy shit Carlos. Today has featured his worst swings I've ever seen.
-
Pop up behind the mound ends the inning.
No shutout!
-
Holy shit Carlos. Today has featured his worst swings I've ever seen.
Did you miss last night's game?
-
Bases loaded nobody out with the 3 and 4 hitter coming up.
Fuck me, this team is AWFUL.
-
Bases loaded, none out, and we score 1 run and a stare down between Bourn and Halladay.
-
Did you miss last night's game?
Fortunately, yes.
-
Bases loaded nobody out with the 3 and 4 hitter coming up.
Fuck me, this team is AWFUL.
Bartender, better make it a triple.
-
Bases loaded nobody out with the 3 and 4 hitter coming up.
Fuck me, this team is AWFUL.
I am beginning to wish I would have taken 0 in the Race for the Lid.
-
And some dude in a cardigan sweater, green necktie, and straggly beard just got a hole-in-one on the 16th.
-
Freddy playing great, but has missed two birdies by a cumulative margin of 3 centimeters.
-
A bench clearing brawl might turn things around...
-
And some dude in a cardigan sweater, green necktie, and straggly beard just got a hole-in-one on the 16th.
And he probably did Tiger too.
-
This fucking shitheels behind the plate is flipping a coin on the outside corner.
-
Good inning.
-
Byrdak nails down the seventh.
Stretch 'em and swing 'em.
-
Byrdak nails down the seventh.
Stretch 'em and swing 'em.
Byrdak? Gameday saying Fulchino.
-
Byrdak nails down the seventh.
Stretch 'em and swing 'em.
Byrdak is ambidextrous?

Stretch 'em and swing 'em.
Fulchino

Fulchino
I must be watching the sideways-world version of the game. I hope it turns out better on the island.
-
Unbelievable eagle on par 4 hole for Tiger Woods
-
And Tiger just holed out for an eagle.
I'm doing a horrible job of toggling between channels.
-
Where did Brand go? He must have passed out in the booth like Ueker on Major League.
-
Basehit for Blum and Feliz. 1st and 2nd no out.
-
Blum and Feliz with back to back leadoff singles.
first and second, no out.
-
great bunt by Kaz.
Send in the clown.
-
Kaz almost beats out a sacrifice. 2nd and 3rd 1 out
-
Towles' comebacker does nothing.
Two outs. None in.
-
When will Castro be ready?
-
Where did Brand go? He must have passed out in the booth like Ueker on Major League.
Nah, it looked like you guys had it covered.
-
J-Mike is up.
The Astros came out with a calendar this year featuring players and their pets. Every picture, save one, is a player chilling with their dog. For some reason, one of Keppinger's dogs is in some sort of doggie-wheelchair.
Jason Michaels, however, is lying down in the outfield grass clutching a terrified cat.
-
The Phillies annopouncers just asked "Why not Hunter Pence" and decided Mills wanted to go with someone that is used to pinch hitting.
Uh, no. He sucks
-
The Good Guys at least are knocking at the door. More life than they've shown in the previous games.
-
Hey, a Goodson Honda commercial!

The cat got a sneak preview of this years team.

Byrdak
still in.
-
Byrdak still in.
And he's left handed this inning.
-
And he's left handed this inning.
Exactly as depicted in my premonition.
Two out. Close 'em out again, Tim!
-
JD and Brownie discussing a list of players with dog-like nicknames.
Amazingly, Fred "Hit Dog" McGriff is left off the list.
-
I thought Mike Maddux was Mad Dog, not Greg.

You, sir, are a prophet.
-
Thought he was "Crime Dog"
Fuck. You're right.
Wasn't there a "One Dog" or "Hit Dog"? Lance Johnson, maybe?
-
Fuck. You're right.
Wasn't there a "One Dog" or "Hit Dog"? Lance Johnson, maybe?
Mo Vaughn is Hit Dog.
-
Mo Vaughn is Hit Dog.
That's it. And Lance Johnson was One Dog, even starting a record company with that name according to wiki.
I guess the point is, that list completely sucked.
-
I hope Lyon has more today than he had last night.
-
I don't know what they're paying the people that come up with the Astros TV commercials, but I'll take half of what it is and make commercials that the universe won't hate.
Uncle Drayton, call me!
-
1 -2 - 3 for Lyon. Halladay to try and finish it off.
-
Of course it went foul.
-
God damn, Carlos. Excuse me while I swing at this slop.
-
Carlos crushes one just foul, the pops up to left center.
At least that was some improvement.
-
But not that one. 1 out.
-
I wish we still had Mike Lamb.
-
It's all down to Feliz now.
-
Blum weakly grounds out to short.
-
Of course it went foul.
Just like Sullivan's (?) bases-loaded foul down the first base line, followed by the double play.
-
Good grief.
-
Ugh. What a dismal home stand.
-
Pop up to second.
Astros still have yet to lead a game this season.
-
Oh boy. I really wish I would have taken 0 in the Race for the Lid.
-
Pop up to second.
Astros still have yet to lead a game this season.
Not true. They had a lead last night.
-
Oh boy. I really wish I would have taken 0 in the Race for the Lid.
It's probably not too late.
-
Pop up to second.
Astros still have yet to lead a game this season.
They had a lead last night for a couple of innings.
-
Six games in and this team has enjoyed a lead for, what, three innings total?
2010 has given us very little to cheer about thus far. The good news is it can't get much worse.
-
They had a lead last night for a couple of innings.
Oh, right. I keep thinking it didn't happen if I didn't see it.
-

It can't get any worse than losing every game. But it's going to be a VERY long season. They will need a lot of luck to not lose 100 games.
-

The team may be playing like fetid shit at the moment, but losing 100 games still seems far-fetched to me.
-
The team may be playing like fetid shit at the moment, but losing 100 games still seems far-fetched to me.
This team is playing like what it is. I wouldn't describe it as fetid shit, but if you're expecting a team with this lineup, this pitching and this bullpen to suddenly turn into a contender, it's going to be a particularly long season for you personally. This is simply a very poor team. It is what it is.
-
The team may be playing like fetid shit at the moment, but losing 100 games still seems far-fetched to me.
I'm thinking that losing somewhere in the 90's, though, is a distinct possibility. Millsie needs to fire the team up by getting run in a home game, not.
