Jesus.
Hamstring for Oswalt
Quad for Manzella
Groin for Myers
Knee for Berkman
Shoulder for Arias
Oblique for Bourne
We got enough guys to finish the spring? Drayton isn't going to be happy with Chris Shelton starting those "preview" games at MMPUS next week.

You can just about make a complete person out of the parts the Astros have injured this spring.

hamstring, quad, shoulder....all these run of the mill injuries. when's somebody gonna come down with another bout of anal fissures. spice things up a bit
-
Cue the radio callers demanding a new trainer. Apparently they just aren't doing enough stretching.

Is it too late to sacrifice a chicken?

If you're the superstitious sort I guess it can't hurt, but you should know that I've already choked my fair share. Same result every time.

Don't forget to eat a spider while you're at it.

MLB Network reported last night that Oswalt would be ready for opening day. Healthy?

Oswalt OK for opener after back injection (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100329&content_id=8986934&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou&partnerId=rss_hou)
Astros team medical director Dr. David Lintner and head athletic trainer Nate Lucero determined the discomfort stemmed from Oswalt's chronic lower back issues and sent him to see Dr. Michael McCann.
Houston general manager Ed Wade was pleased with the news and said the shot was a "maintenance issue."
"That was good," Wade said. "There was a purpose in sending him to Dr. McCann, because Nate and Dr. Lintner thought what he was experiencing was emanating from the back, and Dr. McCann gave him an injection and said he's good to go Wednesday and is on time to make his start for the opener, so it's all good."

That ice berg just caught us a glancing blow, we have water tight compartments on every deck; so it's all good.
-
Oh, ok then. Just a routine SHOT IN THE FUCKING BACK. Nothing to see here, move along.

Been there and done that. It's really not that big a deal what with modern medicine and all. Simple cortisone shot. The doctors that do that are incredibly good at it. For many with disk issues that don't meet the need for surgery a cortisone injection takes away the pain for months.

While that is true, a guy's only allowed to get so many cortisone shots. Also, those shots provide excellent relief but could mask damage being done to an athlete.

If Roy has to pummel some drunk in Milwaukee, I'm holding you responsible.

This is why you would hire Mike Hampton as your bench coach, for just such an occasion

I figured him to be a trainer-in-training.

Cortisone shots all around! (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2010/news/story?id=5044213)

Took the boy to a practice today. Walking from field to field and low and behold we see a delivery that looks familar. What a treat to be able to watch Oswalt from a set of bleachers maybe 5 rows deep. Oswalt went at least 3 IP'd that I watched in a scrimmage game against Detroit. He looked healthy popping the glove regularly. He allowed a couple hits but nothing solid. He finished, then spent 5-10 minutes talking with Arnsberg before leaving the facility. Mills was also in attendance.
Also, Carlos Lee got a few AB's against an all Astros minor league squad today as well. Guess he's trying to sharpen his timing.
-
Oh, and Manzella was in the on deck circle today in the Oswalt game when I had to leave.
