Title: diamondbacks at ASTROS 8.23.09
Post by: BatGirl on August 23, 2009, 12:02:00 pm
oeltjen, cf
roberts, 2b
tracy, 3b
montero, c
allen, 1b
parra, lf
romero, rf
ojeda, ss
garland, p
------------
bourn, cf
tejada, ss
berkman, 1b
lee, lf
blum, 3b
michaels, rf
matsui, 2b
quintero, c
norris, p

so last night during the game, jd mentioned that tejada
might not be the best option to hit behind bourn
given the fact that miggy takes very few pitches

as long as we are tinkering with the lineups...
if it were up to me, i would switch tejada and blum today
and maybe swap matsui and quintero
then again
what the hell do i know

I don't like Tejada batting second either, not even when he was hitting .340. Pence might be a good option to bat behind Bourn considering the steady diet of outside breaking pitches in the dirt he receives . Should be a lot of good pitches for Bourn to run on. Pence also has a considerably higher OBP then Miggy as well as better speed. With Matsui batting .220 against RHP I don't even see why he is in there. Keppinger and Maysonet both seem like better options at this time.

Is there another team with as many tattoos as the Diamondbacks?

Did I hear correctly that massive tool Angel Hernandez is behind the plate today?

Just the Brewers.

Yeah, it's Hernandez. He squeezed Norris on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded and two out.

Angel Hernandez is beyond awful.

F___House is still tweeting the good fight.

Bud gets squeezed on strike three and walks a run in. He's doing the right thing by not reacting by horrendous calls by umps.

I really don't think the relievers need to be warming up. Bud will be fine. With an off day tomorrow, maybe Coop feels he can burn the 'pen.

Let the shitrain begin. Coop goes to Paulino with two on, none out in the top of the 2nd.

Blinky gets a quick DP but gives up a grounder up the middle to make it 6-0. Close the book on Norris, 1 IP, 6 ER, 3 BB, 1 K.

I would have suspected Angel Hernandez was quite the accomplished cocksucker.

...but I guess it's hard to focus on cocksucking when he's so busy sticking his dick into the Astros' collective ass.

Tough to dog a guy who's still not 100% but it sure looked like Blum would've beaten that out if he'd been running from the start.

I can't stand the fact that every time MBourn gets on base with Miggy behind him, he gets no opportunity to run b/c the first two pitches are a foul back and a ground out, what a waste.

Pence should never hit anywhere higher than 6, and he should never, ever hit 2.

Completely unsupported by data, but it seems like Carlos has been grounding into a lot of DPs recently, particularly with RISP.

Pence is certainly not good at driving in runs, while not really a good option at 2 it may be where he can do the least damage. Since Matsui is in a funk, and Keppinger isn't allowed to play, not really many options to bat 2nd. Miggy does cost Bourn a lot of SB oppurtunities IMO.

well, when the lineup contains hitters best situated for the 1, 3, 4, 6, 6, 8, and 8 spots, there isn't much you can do with the lineup.  this is a typically poorly put together lineup by geoff blum.

This is one of those crazy games where the opposing team kicks the ball all over the field and still leads by 3.  The DBacks look like Little Leaguers.

See, that right there is the kind of quiet, relaxed receiving skill that everybody is talking about in the other thread.

Just read on MLB at bat that the crimson chin had an unassisted triple play.

Eta: game-ending

The whole exchange was bizarre.  And then I flipped over to the Solheim Cup and saw, for the first time, a golfer scream GET IN THE HOLE on her own mid-flight shot.

what a great at-bat by hunter!  sometimes you just gotta tip your hat to the pitcher and understand that no matter what you did, he was the better man that day.

PENCE! fell apart this season, after Coop told him to stop hitting the ball to right field, right?

She wears the puffy shirt so it's only hinted at that McCullough likes to surround himself with young pieces of ass.  Because if you were to look up Jen Woo on Model Mayhem, or look up Jennifer Crocker on Facebook, you'd see her best assets don't make an appearance in the Goodson commercials.

I consider it a public service, as his big media buys are on early morning news broadcasts.  I don't know if I could get out of the house on time with seeing her and Jennifer Reyna (and the blonde with the pregnancy boobs) every 5 minutes.

As I have mentioned before, one of the hospitality suites at the marine insurance conference - coming up in late September - hires hostesses from the same agency.  Very often the same girls are serving me drinks at the conference as are trying to sell me a Honda on TV.  Did I mention that the conference is in a couple of weeks...

Just a worthless plug on my stomping grounds...Brandon Allen played 1st for the D-Bags yesterday.  Montgomery kid Arizona acquired from the White Sox.  Been watching him progress over the last few years...nice to see a hometown kid make it to the bigs, even if it only turns out to be for a short time.
