Bazardo threw 105 pitches in 6 innings today.  I wonder who they intend to start Monday's game.

Footer tweets that Bazardo is out of options.

Does the team maintain Bazardo's rights for next year? Or is he a minor league FA?

Paulino to start Tuesday if Oswalt can't go, says McTaggert. This quote from Wade makes me infer that they do control Bazardo beyond this year- or maybe it just means they're planning to add him to the 40-man before the off-season?

says Wade:
"Bazardo was a consideration, but from a roster standpoint he has no options remaining, and if we were to bring Yorman up at that point in time we're pretty much locked into keeping him. That creates a domino effect when Oswalt comes off the DL and [LaTroy] Hawkins comes off the DL. So we had to sort of look at it in the short term and long term."

(apologies if Cabrera'd)

It seems to me that they could commit to keep him until Sept. 1st when the rosters are expanded. If they get into a bind for space on the 25 then they can always ship Wright back to RR.

I wasn't able to watch the game tonight.  How bad was Wandy's injury?  Does it look like he will have to go to the DL or what?

Okay,  so potentially if Wandy is out for a start, if Roy can't go...

Paulino and THEN Bazardo?

Is there anyone else in AAA they're going to consider?

They may also consider Trinidad, but who knows.

I read that quote only to mean Bazardo is depth for this year, and they don't want to risk losing that depth by dicking around with the roster prior to September.  He is quite clearly expecting Oswalt to be ready soon enough.

Maybe that's why they only dumped Ortiz.  Dumping Hampton could have put 4 minor leaguers in the rotation, however briefly, with Moehler.

According to Footer, Wandy says he expects to make his next start.  Of course, that might change when he wakes up tomorrow.

He'd have to start now for next weekend's start, though.

Hey Coach, tell'em you want your own personal catcher.  You got plenty to choose from here, me excluded though.  I would squat and fear never getting back up.

God, my shoulder and my forearm are barking just thinking about throwing hard.

I'd pay good money to see Coach whiff a few of the whippersnappers on here that talk a good game.

Mark, tell us about the last time your old man struck you out, and how it made you feel. You can be honest. You're in a safe place.

his "old man" threw him BP from age 9-18. the point was to give him confidence as a hitter, not to strike him out. i threw him 10-20 million trillion pitches or so, and he was a very good hitter by the time he finished HS. he worked hard at it, and so did i.

i never tried to strike him out. could i have? dunno.

He made me look pretty stupid swinging at breaking balls now and then. I know I can burn him out every once in a while when we're playing catch, but he can still bring it too.

I think I can count on one hand the number of times he's over/underthrown me while playing catch in my 20+ years of playing catch with him.

Yeah, but he's confident now. Cocky, even. It's time to replace that "dunno" with "yes, absolutely". I'll don the tools of ignorance for the occasion, let's just go over the signs beforehand. I don't want to catch one in the boys because I get crossed up when you snap off the big curve.

He was more worried about you bouncing one and hitting one of his young son who was watching.
