...can be a pretty decent pitcher some times. (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2009_07_23_tbamlb_chamlb_1&mode=gameday)

The MLB Gameday said in play(out(s)).
Then it said DOUBLE to deep left for Kapler.
But now it says Kapler flew out to center field.
I have no fucking clue.
-
Saw the exact same thing. It was an out.
-
Perfection!
-
Mark was watching on ESPN. he said the first out was an unbelieveable catch.
-
Chicago's CF, Wise, made a fucking unbelievable catch on the first out of the inning. I guess it was Kapler?
Deep drive to left center, Wise jumped at the wall and pulled back a home run then slammed in to the wall, but held on.

It was right after a defensive replacement, too, I think.

I guess that's where Gameday confused itself. I can't wait to see the highlight.

What ESPN channel was it on? I checked the Worldwide Leader at the start of the ninth and they weren't showing a live look-in. I must've left too early.

Damn... I missed all of this b/c I got sucked into re-reading the old Towlie thread. At least I got several good laughs.

Yep, same here. Mikey needs to put a warning on that link.

Wow, just saw the replay of the catch on ESPNews. Unbelievable.

Perfection requires some luck. Buerhle is my kind of pitcher though.

good grief, what a play.
-
Amazing catch. Wow.
-
Not only was it a great catch at the wall, he ran about a mile to get there. Incredible.
-
Wow! He can be real good some times.
-
Pitchers with a perfect game and another no-hitter:
Jim Bunning
Sandy Koufax
Randy Johnson
Mark Buehrle
Pretty good company, there.
-
Very nice catch. Apparently this buerhle guy can pitch a bit(2nd no hitter/1st perfect game of his career).
Of course I had him on my bench for today's start in the SNS league.
-
Against TB, too. 3rd highest scoring team in MLB. 7th best batting average, 1 point ahead of your Houston Astros.
-
Perfection requires some luck.
And AJ Perwhatever not catching. Just saying.
-
Buerhle got quite the cherry on top following his perfecto:
President calls to congratulate Buerhle after perfect game (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090723&content_id=6020998&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)

It was right after a defensive replacement, too, I think.
8 innings on the bench, coming in cold as a defensive replacement in the 9th inning of a perfect game. Well hit ball, has to cover a ton of ground to get to it. Up over the wall. Puts a glove on it, crashes into the wall, ball gets jarred out, bare hands it. Perfecto saved. AWESOME!!!
-
I don't know what was the more amazing: the ground he covered, the leap to and over the wall or the barehanded grab as the snowcone popped out. Buehrle owes that man a steak dinner. Did you see his face when it was hit? "Damn, lost it on a tater". Followed by no expression whatsoever after the catch.

Considering the pedestrian career he's had so far, you just have to be thrilled for Wise. Toiling in and out of the majors since 2000, and only just now having accumulated a full season's worth of stats, with a .211 BA. But now, he's the guy who made probably the greatest saving play in the history of perfect games and no-hitters. What a cool thing for him.

The story on Yahoo! sports quoted Buehrle as saying that after the last no-hitter he got, he bought everyone on the team watches- he laughingly called it an "expensive" no-hitter. Wonder what he'll spend after a perfect game...
Congrats to Buehrle- what an accomplishment, and he is indeed in impressive company. And massive kudos to Wise for an absolutely phenomenal friggin' catch.
