Title: Announcers & Espanol
Post by: OldBlevins on July 16, 2009, 11:45:30 pm
I was just listening to the Dodgers' announcer butcher Arias' name.  Why on earth can't baseball announcers learn to pronounce Spanish names after Latinos have been in the league for 50 years or whatever?  Milo is the worst, of course.

I'll bet the Puerto Rican announcers have a bitch of a time when guys like Troy Tulowitzki and A J Pierzynski play Winter Ball.

That's right.  You can't expect Puerto Ricans to easily grasp polysyllabic names with a lot of vowels and consonants in them.
