Catching up on (http://www.spikesnstars.com/2009/07/14/minor-notes/): Castro and the Futures Game; Baseball America on Lyles, Seaton and Mier; Jay Austin's power surge; and other notables...

Good stuff. You guys really go above and beyond with the minor league coverage. I love it. Thank you.

Thanks for the info.
Nice to see them happy with Austin's progress. It's early, but it's easy to remain very postive with so many of last year's picks.
The Lyles-Seaton debate is great to hear about. I just hope they both stay healthy and progress so the debate can continue for years. One attribute Callis failed to mention is that Seaton (from the few games I saw) has better command of a his fastball, which moves well and he keeps down in the zone. That could be a solid foundation to build upon.

One other factor to consider in the debate is expectation:
Seaton was seen as a top round pick who slid because of signability. Therefore expectations were higher on him from the get go.
Lyles was seen as stretch and he has already exceeded expectations.

I just want to claim that question to Callis which prompted his debate on this. I am a Baseball America subscriber and use every opportunity to get them to discuss Astros prospects.
I am just glad he took the time to use my question.... and give us something to chew on over here.

I figured it was someone here... Good job!

Great job guys, once again, Austin has had another multi-hit game and his average has climbed significantly since the start of the season.
