According to multiple local reports, the Astros have claimed infielder German Duran from the Rangers off release waivers. He goes onto Houston ’s major league disabled list.

Post by: Kent's Moustache on July 05, 2009, 08:38:17 pm: I was on-hand to see Duran win the HR Derby at the Texas League All-Star Game in Corpus in '07. For a relatively small guy, he's got a lot of pop. Plate discipline and pitch recognition apparently proved to be problems, however, during his stints in the Show and in the PCL.

A nice pickup, nonetheless, IMO.
