No, the ass couldn't just say positive things about Fernando Nieve. Instead, multiple times he opined about how stupid the Astros were to waive him, thinking "they had 5 starters better than this guy". And then in an interview with Mets manager Jerry Manuel, he again tried to direct the question around how the Astros messed up. Manuel was mature enough to ignore that and just focused on Nieve.

Did Wade blow that one?

Did Wade blow that one?
I hated to see Nieve go because of that arm. But he absolutely looked horrible this ST and was out of options. Hard to justify keeping him and he was a waiver claim.

I probably wouldn't come to that conclusion off one good start, but then I'm not as intelligent as Joe Buck. He's only pitched 2 innings for the Mets prior to this outing.

I've been wondering if Dewey Robinson is making a difference as pitching coach. I know he had a great rep in the minors as an organizational guy. Somebody straighthen me out on this.

I wouldn't either. I just raised a question. I'm with Wade until Nieve does it on a regular basis.

Even then, it would change whether the decision was the right one at the time or not.

Of course Maneul didn't say anything. He waived Nieve earlier this season as well. ::)

Joe Buck doesn't even like baseball, so fuck him.

In response to my own post, attached is a very good profile of Ranger pitching coach Mike Maddux in today's Dallas News. When asked if he deserves the credit for the improvement in Rangers pitching he answers "Nope. Players do." (of course he would say that). There is also some very interesting advice here that Jackie Moore gave him when he got into coaching. A very good read. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/061409dnspomaddux.48573b8.html

Hey, been lurking since the OWA days. This site is daily required reading for me. Only posting now cause I'm really drunk....
Anyway, that's a good read. I think the loss of Jackie Moore may have been the biggest Astros loss of the last decade. And to a lesser extent, Mike Maddux. I'd love to have both of these guys back.
The future looks pretty good for the Texas Rangers...

where is the "loss" with either? they were both Ryan guys. there is no competing with that.
-
So you're saying Nolan was the bigger loss? I can buy that too.
Sucks...

I think Jim was saying that both Moore and Maddux were guys Ryan's guys, so when Ryan went to the Rangers, so did they. There wasn't anything the Astros could do.

Joe Buck is a idiot

Joe Buck is a idiot
Who takes himself way too seriously. He's become a Bob Costas.

Joe Buck is a idiot
who was basing his opinion of Nieve based on just 2-3 innings of seeing him pitch. Imagine what he would have thought of Johan Santana yesterday.

Bob Costas never had Jack Buck for a father. Were it not for Jack, Joe Buck probably be working for the Geek Squad at a Best Buy in St Louis instead of being prostitute in Manhattan.

Did I ever mention that when Joe Buck's daughter turned 10 I think it was they rounded up a bunch of her friends and chartered a jet (didn't you when you turned 10???) and flew everyone to New York for a shopping expedition at Tiffany's? Ten years old. Imagine what that poor kid is going to be like in ten or fifteen years.

All I got was a barbie car, but my slumber party was fun.

I not too good at math but I'm going to guess 20-25 years old?

Yeah. That's what it is. Got it.

I think that the proper expression was that his show sucked donkey dick. Sucking monkey nuts wouldn't have been so bad in comparison.
