For a little Rice-LSU smack. Geaux Tigers!
-
Rice is too schizophrenic to inspire much confidence. They've had awful pitching (12 walks and some number of HBP against UT in Austin) and good-to-great pitching (two pitchers for the Sunday doubleheader?). I've seen decent offense (against UT in Austin), comatose offense (against UCF in Houston), and powerful offense (the last two days of the regional). I have no idea what to expect out of them against LSU.
-
I'll tell you what to expect.
CLINK!
F'ing college ball.

What the fuck are you talking about? CLINK! is not the issue here, Alkie. I'm talking about drawing a line in the sand, Alkie. Across this line, you DO NOT... Also, Alkie, CLINK! is not the preferred nomenclature. PING!, please.

PING? Maybe the college hitter in your head just grounded out weakly.
Mine hit one to the track. On a line drive. That killed two fielders.

My Aggies beat Rice this year. As poor as the A&M team was, Rice must have some really down moments to loose to A&M....

It sounds like someone jumping on your cyclone fence and shaking the fence into the posts. What's wrong with that?

The Aggies weren't a bad team. They were just woefully inconsistent. Kind of like Rice.
For A&M to beat them, Rice had to have a bad day, or A&M had a good day. Doesn't really say anything about either team, as they're both pretty good.
-
I'm concerned that the LSU Bayou Bengal Tiger thinks there are going to be Rice fans talking smack. It's almost consistently "You'll be working for us someday" and "We lead the nation in student suicide rate".

I believe that ATM was rated no 1 in the nation pre season, so that tells me two things.
1. They must not be that bad
2. Preseason rankings are meaningless.

I've always wanted to comment on this Rice smack. I've heard it too. For YEARS. The "you'll work for us someday" line I mean.
It always made me roll my eyes anyway, but I have to say.....I can think of 6 Rice grads I know off the top of my head. And not one of them owns the company they work for. None of them are even top managers of those companies. Funny.
I know lots of Aggies that own companies.

the only Rice smack i ever heard was:
"what comes out of a chinaman's ass?"
oh, wait....

I think you're missing the point of the joke...

My boss isn't a Rice grad, but his boss is. Of course the boss's boss's boss is an A&M/UofH grad. None of them *own* the company though.

Well, there you go.
I have two employees, one of whom is below the other. But I don't think anyone would say Heather "works for" Mike, even though Mike is Heather's "boss."

Both in-state series should be interesting. I would think Texas a bit too strong for TCU over the course of a series, but Schlossnagle has built a damn fine program up there in a few short years. They're not totally new to the scene, so I don't suspect they'll nut up. Texas might need 3 to win it, but I doubt it.
No great surprises in this year's tournament, including Corky Palmer's Southern Mississippi team--they're in this thing nearly every year now, it seems. Some would say the Hogs were a surprise, but I doubt blOwU would.
I keep telling myself I want to take in the CWS one year, but I never do much about it.

I have a "boss". I "work for" the stockholders.

Rice students that shout this are idiots and assholes. Pretty much the entire rest of the student body knows this.
I mean, they're still better than all of you (even you Bizdizzle), but not representative of most Rice students.

I'm hedging my bets by marrying a rice grad.

She must've been badly shunned at Rice to go trolling for Stanford alums.
-
She did the trolling at stanford before she knew any better. By the time she got masters at rice I had the benefit of inertia (and those who've seen me can attest I pack considerable inertia).

I constantly have to remind my Aggie wife where she headed when she needed a real man instead of those needle dicks in College Station.

The bathroom at the Richmond Arms?

The bathroom at the Richmond Arms?
That's funny, I don't care who you are.
Not sure why this made me think of this, but the best bathroom grafitti I ever saw was in the men's room at Valhalla at Rice. Someone had written "I fucked your mother". Underneath, someone else wrote "go home Dad, you're drunk".

Corky is a really good coach. Omaha is an experience that I would recommend to anyone. I've been five times.

Fuck you Zipp.
Get in line.
-
Well, suck. LSU clearly had more and better weapons than the Owls. Congrats, and good luck in Omaha.
-
Yeah, congrats to LSU. Good luck in Omaha.
Great year for the Owls, most teams hit that hard by injuries don't have nearly that quality of season. Any other super regional pairing, and I think the team still ends in Omaha for the 4th straight year. So it goes!

It's a shame Rendon got injured. I've only seen him bat 8 or 9 times but he looks like a really special hitter.

Rendon is a special player. I was sad to see him get hurt, as I am any player who does, even if he's playing us. He might have made a huge difference, particularly in the first game in the ninth inning.
