Title: Chauncey Billups...
Post by: sporadic on May 22, 2009, 09:33:43 am
Is the player Derek Fisher thinks he is.  Don't get me wrong, I used to think Derek Fisher was a helluva tough player (until the bullshit he pulled with Scola), but Chauncey Billups he is not.  Carmello is the undisputed superstar for Denver, but that team goes nowhere without Billups.  The guy is a floor leader.  When operation "clear cap room so we can get LeBron" explodes in Detroits face, they will regret letting Chauncey go, even more than they are now.

Billups was an amazing pickup for the Nuggets.  Shame the Rockets couldn't swing a deal to land him.  Seeing as Chauncey's from Denver and went to the U of Colorado, I would think he's a lock to finish his career with Melo.  The Nuggets aren't going away anytime soon.

Here is hoping they don't go away in the next 5 games.  Go Nuggets!

ESPN had a great article about him a week or two ago.  His family is pretty amazing.  His dad still works at the same warehouse job he's had since Chauncey was a kid, though he's finally retiring this year.  His mom wouldn't let him buy her a new house when he was drafted, so he remodeled her old home.

I read that 30 page article too.  Gotta respect a hard-working family like that.
