TIVOs the bomb.  I forgot to set it last night/this morning.  But, I can set it from work.  Yeah.  I get to watch the game this evening.  I can catch the catchers tonight.

Usually, my "first game of spring training" ritual is to grab some Sonic and listen to the game in my car whilst stuffing my face with tater tots.  Unfortunately, I couldn't act out my ritual this year due to jury duty.  I guess today is the day!

So if the season goes wrong we can blame you?  And if it goes right, you have to change your ritual next year.  It's all on your shoulders.  We're counting on you.

Maybe you should give Andy's head to Rajah...for old time's sake.

No way.  I have the same ritual.  Footlong chili cheese dog with onions and mustard with a side of tater tots with cheese and a fresh lemon berry slush, while listening to the first Spring Training game.  Its my one trip all year to Sonic.   Unfortunately my new class schedule did not allow for that yesterday or today.  Bummer.

Feel free to call BS, but until this year, I did the same thing.  Burger and tots at Sonic while listening on XM.

Hey, maybe we need to all meet at the same Sonic.

And then you can sit and eat in separate cars.  Together.

Can we spread the blame around to JaneDoe and Lurch as well?

This is kind of a strange synchronicity thing, isn't it?  Will Sonic be this year's Scott Baio?

OK, why Sonic? I'm not questioning the idea by any means, because I love Sonic. Just curious. Also, I don't have any plans for lunch yet so I could maybe cover for those can't make it.

Baseball goes with hot dogs.  Sonic has footlongs with chili and cheese.  More Sonics around than anything else with hot dogs.  Plus, I can sit in the car and listen to the game. So, Sonic was the obvious choice.  I've never been to a James Coney Island or any other hot dog specialty eating establishment.

I rarely eat fast food anyway.

Oh, and the tots.

wasn't the james coney island chili reserved for dickety games?

Well my wife says, "Tell them they're all a bunch of creepy fuckers for having the same weird tradition. But Sonic is OK with me if you'll go get it."

So off I go.

Basically, what JaneDoe said.  I can sit in the car and listen to the game on XM...while enjoying tots and cherry limeade.  Who needs a better argument than that?

Unfortunately, it's about a 200 mile drive to the greater Houston area for me.  I guess it could be worse...poor subnuclear lives in a state without a Sonic.

Here in Waco, I headed to a nearby Pizza Hut for lunch (closest/cheapest place with a TV where I could watch the game). 20 minutes later, a couple of college kids (one wearing a Rice cap) come in. "Oh, the Braves game is on!" Sheesh.

Well I tried to post from Sonic but it didn't work. Anyway, I'm back home eating tater tots and chili cheese dogs.

And while Sonic is awesome, I'm getting concerned about this new trend of using old geezers to deliver the food instead of cute girls on roller skates.

You've obviously never experienced the Sonic ice.  Matthew McConaughey bought a Sonic ice machine for his house.  And he's a pot smoking Austin hippie, so that right there should be proof enough of something.

I took 1 geology class at UT back in the day.    Memory of the geophysicist who delivered our newspapers in the mid-80s discouraged me from pursuing that.    Its a shame because they do some cool stuff.

That's geology, not geophysics.  Geophysicists are in demand right now, though Sub is right, back in the late 80's, geo-anything was the job market equivalent of the Black Plague.
