WHO saw him play this year at CC? What are his chances to come to the Astros either year or next? thxs

Didn't see him play, but have read good stuff on his exploits in the AFL. LINK (http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081020&content_id=3634146&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)

Has a great stick, but was error prone in CC.
Watched 30+ games and to be fair after Manzella went to RR his errors got worse.
More throwing to first on DP situations than anything else. The timing between he and Sutil was either great or Sutton was having to rush throws.
On the plus side, he was one of the few bright spots here last season.

Posted this on the front page on Oct. 6th (http://www.spikesnstars.com/2008/10/06/sutton-closer-to-bigs-hwl-update/).
“Putting the numbers up that I did, it is possible to be close, to get a chance to go to a big league camp next (spring) and compete,” Sutton said… “There is talk about Triple A, but (Astros) told me that the possibility existed of making the bigs if I played in Triple-A or not,” Sutton said. “They did not see it as a necessity for me going to Triple-A.”

This year was a repeat of CC for him. Last year he was mediocre. This year he hit very well. He's not great defensively so he's a utility player if he makes it to the majors. If he does start it's likely to be at 2b. His offensive work this year is a surprise. He's never demonstrated the complete package he has this year. He's shown power before but not a high average. He'll be 26 during next season. Wade may give him a shot at the 25 man next spring. IIRC he's rule 5 eligible this year.

So do you see his playing RF in the AFL this year being more about utility-type versatility rather than a possible position change? What else can he play? 3B? Would he and Blum as reserve infielders give you enough protection at SS, for example?

Utility. They'll want him to be able to play as many positions as possible.

Neat little article about Sutton.
Also, today on BA, they've posted the NL Central draft report cards and an article about Bogusevic...both are premium content, so if anyone with a subscription could give us highlights from either or both articles, it would very much appreciated.
