Title: Divine Reserve #7
Post by: Frobie on September 24, 2008, 09:27:26 pm
The economy is going to shit, Southeast Texas is recovering from a hurricane, etc. etc. etc., but I have some actual, consequential news to report.

Came up empty on my quest for DR-7 in Houston today.  I went to the Saint Arnold website to see if I could glean any information and came across this (http://www.saintarnold.com/blog/index.html):

We are now going to be releasing Divine Reserve No. 7 starting Tuesday, September 30 in Houston . . . Divine Reserve No. 7 will still be released Tuesday, September 23 in Austin, DFW and San Antonio.

Happy hunting, and apologies if Cabrera drinks weizenbocks.

I don't know anything about it, but Saint Arnold brews a good beer.  What makes DR 7 special?

What makes DR 7 special?

Well, the DRs are single-batch, high-gravity (strong) brews that are--at least as I understand it--intended to be stored and sampled over time.  I've only tried a couple of them, and while they are fun and interesting, I wouldn't call them must-taste brews, at least for most folks.

That being said, I went looking for some of the #7 today at the Kroger at Montrose near Westheimer in Houston and no luck.  I had no problems finding the last couple of versions there.  I don't really feel like trekking all over the fair city hunting it down, so if anyone finds some and would be willing to trade me a bottle for a bottle of the #5 or #6, PM me.  I'd be happy to meet you anywhere inside the loop.  [ETA:  Homicidal maniacs excluded, but that should go without sayin'.]

Don't hold the #7 too long.  It's a wheat beer, so it won't age like the last few they've put out.

Had some last night.  Very sweet, kinda banana-ester flavor.  High alcohol, but you can hardly tell.

Anybody doing the St. Arnold pub crawl on Saturday?
