Anyone need PBP?
-
So, Randy Wolf's brother is the home plate ump tonight. He could not serve there if his brother were the starting pitcher. Indulge me: What if this game were to go, say 17 innings and he were inserted--Would his brother have to move to a base? Just curious.
-
Winn grounds out 6-3.
Ochoa imitates Winn (6-3)
Lewis--s, s, b, b, f, f, singles up the middle

Erstad

Me too, though I tuned in a little late
-
Loretta in for Matsui, who left with back issues.
-
Matsui has left the game and been replaced by Loretta. No reason known per Brownie. Gameday says injured back. Now Brownie confirms sore back, day to day.
Lewis
swinging strike, called strike, foul, foul, foul, foul, line drive single to LCF.
-
Patti Smith = JaneDoe?
She asked the exact sam question about the Wolf's.
-
Molina
strike called, Lews going, grounder to Tejada who tosses underhand to Loretta (who actually came off the bag before he caught the ball) Loretta throws low to Berkman, great stretch!! for the DP
Lisa Smith asked the same question that I did earlier,(regarding the Howling brothers) and JD and Brownie had no answer.
-
Those Molina bros sure hustle.
Squatters.
-
Rowand
ball, ball, ball, called strike, ball.
-
Patti Smith = JaneDoe?
She asked the exact sam question about the Wolf's.
Almost. She said 14 innings, I said 17. Wonder if she reads here?
-
Bowker
called strike, ball, grounds out Loretta to Berkman.
-
Patti Smith = JaneDoe?
She asked the exact sam question about the Wolf's.
Mihoba--think you can find us an answer??
-
Almost. She said 14 innings, I said 17. Wonder if she reads here?
I hope so.
Patti the lurker.
-
Mihoba--think you can find us an answer??
I'll try.
ETA: Wiki sez... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Wolf)
If Wolf is ever umpiring a game that his brother pitches, he does not call balls and strikes, although MLB generally avoids assigning him to Randy's games.
I assume he would swap gear with another ump.
-
Buns of Steel
called strike, foul, ball (check swing appealed--no swing) foul towards the RF line, Winn reaches over the fence into the stands, drops the ball (fans backed off for him to make the play), ball, Ausmus pats Molina on the butt (Molina was crossed up on the pitch), foul, ball, ball
Ausmus works the walk.
-
Oswalt
foul bunt, ball, shows bunt-pulls back-called strike, called strike 3.
Geez Roy at least try the bunt.
-
I'll try.
ETA: Wiki sez... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Wolf)
I assume he would swap gear with another ump.
I would assume that too.
-
Loretta
ball, fly ball to deep LCF, caught by Rowand stepping in front of Lewis. Was hoping for a collision there. 2 outs
-
Erstad
strike, ball, foul, fly ball to LF, bounces about 1 ft fair, then bounces high off the railing and over Lewis. Ausmus scores. Erstad DOUBLE.
Giants 1, Astros 1
-
Whoopsie Daisy, thanks Burriss.
-
Tejada
called strike, ball, ball, lines toward Burris at 2B, takes a bounce, Burris overruns the ball, tries to backhand it barehanded, it gets by him. Erstad scores. Tejada safe at 1st. Scored an error on Burriss.
Giants 1, Astros 2
Hope that description makes sense.
-
Berkman
ball, ball, ball, foul, called strike, swinging STRIKEOUT.
-
I'll take it. Gotta get 'em where we can against Tiny Tim.
-
Aurilia

-
Burriss
called strike, called strike, ball, swinging K. 2 outs

Christy Mathewson won 37 games for the Giants in 1908 for the Aflac trivia.
-
Home & caught up. Thanks for the PBP Ms. Doe!
-
Winn
called strike, swinging strike, rips a double to the gap, Lincecum races home. (Bourn to Tejada to Ausmus was late--Lincecum just outran it, good strong throws by all)
Giants 2, Astros 2
-
Dammit Roy
-
Ochoa
called strike, foul, ball, grounds out to Berkman unassisted. 3 outs
-
Dammit Roy
Fine job of protecting that lead. He's very frustrating.
-
Nice hustle by Lincecum there to score. Makes me think of Dierker, I think in his book he said that when he pitched his policy was to never slide into home. Said he wasn't paid to slide, he was paid to pitch and not injure himself.
-
Blum
ball, foul, called strike, foul, swinging K. 1 out
-
Wigginton
swinging strike, ball, ball, foul, foul, swinging K. 2 outs
-
Bourn
ball, called strike, swinging strike, swinging K.
Lincecum strikes out the side. He seems to be getting stronger and locating the breaking ball well.
-
He is locating it out of the strike zone, and we are chasing it. Why they swing at breaking pitches, I will never know.
If we get behind this guy again, say goodnight Gracie.
-
Men's beach volleyball on if you care.
Lewis
singles to LF. 3-3 tonight.
-
Molina
swinging strike, foul, bloops one over Tejada for a single, Lewis to 3B.
Men on 1st and 3rd, no outs
-
I see Yvette has put on weight since the pregnancy
-
I hate doing PBP when someone is in the booth. They almost act as if no game is going on.
Rowand
ball, foul, grounds to Blum, no chance for anything but the out at 1st. Molina to 2nd. Lewis stays at 3rd. 1 out
-
Intentional walk to Bowker
-
Aurilia
called strike, ball, foul, fly ball to Erstad. Lewis tags and scores. Molina advances to 3rd.
Giants 3, Astros 2
-
Giants at 1st and 3rd. 2 out
Burriss
ball, flies out to Wigginton in LF. 3 outs
-
I cringe every time they promote Lance's Holy Testimony
-
Ouch. Didn't look good.
-
Ausmus
ball, ball, ball, hits a shot off Lincecum's leg (quad area) bounces to Bowker at 1st who takes it to the bag. 1 out
Lincecum goes to the ground, gets up slow, and is being taken off the field. with a limp.
Have no idea who is coming in yet.
-
That had to hurt like a mother. Ouch.
-
Shut the fuck up, legs. Lance's beliefs are none of your business. He will speak to those who choose to listen.
-
So, Randy Wolf's brother is the home plate ump tonight. He could not serve there if his brother were the starting pitcher. Indulge me: What if this game were to go, say 17 innings and he were inserted--Would his brother have to move to a base? Just curious.
Nope per Froemming.
-
Lisa asks Froemming the question about the Wolf brother situation. He says that he (Wolf) would stay behind the plate.
Double switch--Keiichi Yabu (3-4, 3.60) replaces Lincecum batting 8th. Velez comes in to play 2B, batting 9th. Burriss leaves the game.
Oswalt
called strike, ball, foul tip, foul caught by Bowker near the stands. 2 out
-
Mallory Conger, hmmmm. . .
Is she new?
-
Loretta
called strike, ball, ball, foul, loops one, caught by Velez on the run to his left. 3 outs
-
Mallory Conger, hmmmm. . .
Is she new?
Replaced Yvette, I guess.
-
Marketing Coordinator. http://houston.astros.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=hou

-
Winn
called strike, swinging strike, foul, ball, foul, ball, bouncer to Berkman who tosses to Roy. 2 outs.
-
Ochoa
swinging strike, foul tip, swinging K
3 outs.
-
Replaced Yvette, I guess.
There is no replacing Yvette
-
Marketing Coordinator. http://houston.astros.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=hou
Found a picture (http://www.comm.ohio-state.edu/Data/Site/Pdfs/LINK_WI_07.pdf) of her from when she worked for the Seahawks last season. She does appear to be somewhat, well, profound.
-
Erstad
called strike, swinging strike, grounds out 4-3. 1 out.
-
Tejada
called strike, bouncer that goes past the third baseman, gloved and DROPPED by the SS, throws late to 1st. Tejada safe.
-
Astros are getting 1-hit right now?
-
Astros are getting 1-hit right now?
That would be correct, sir.
-
Pitching change.
Hinshaw in to pitch to Berkman.
ball, ball, foul, swinging strike, foul, flies out to RF. 2 outs
Berkman is very upset with himself as he should be.
-
Lance needs a game off.
-
Shut the fuck up, legs. Lance's beliefs are none of your business. He will speak to those who choose to listen.
So you'll be in attendance?
-
Blum
ball, foul, foul, HBP.
-
What part of, "shut the fuck up," don't you understand?
-
Lance needs a game off.
Or maybe more.
I have a suspicion he's been playing hurt for a while...
-
Seriously l-o-e, what is your major malfunction?
-
Wigginton
called strike, ball, swinging strike, foul, foul, swinging strikeout. 3 outs.
-
What part of, "shut the fuck up," don't you understand?
Exactly who are you referring to?
-
Or maybe more.
I have a suspicion he's been playing hurt for a while...
hamstringish?
-
Pay attention, Jane.
-
Exactly who are you referring to?
Seignorita Ignorita. (Legs el huevos)
-
Byrdak up in the bullpen
Lewis
called strike, called strike, ball, ball, swinging K. 1 out.
SCORING CHANGE: TEJADA WAS GIVEN A HIT ON THE BALL IN THE HOLE (bottom 6th). JD disagrees with the change.
-
Pay attention, Jane.
You try PBP and keeping up with the side conversations, Jim.
-
Exactly who are you referring to?
Paranoid? Don't be.
-
Molina
foul, swinging strike, single.
-
Think the "this user is currently ignored" added where his posts would otherwise be have skewed her ability to figure out the jackass to which folks are referring...
-
Rowand
Lines a single to LF
-
NO, not paranoid. Keeping up with each pitch is hard enough without trying to keep up with the side conversations. I have L-o-e on ignore, so I just missed his post and that you were responding to some foolish comment of his. Now I am one batter behind.
-
Bowker
strikes out swinging.
-
Aurilia
grounds into a force play Blum to Loretta
-
You are taking this pbp stuff way too seriously. It is ok if you get behind. Talking is ok too.
Unfortunately, by BB does not ignore. I have to read the MF's drivel.
-

Unfortunately, by BB does not ignore. I have to read the MF's drivel.
I know its ok, I get behind alot. I talk alot too, just missed l-o-e's post.
-
Lucky you
-
Bourn bunts out to Bowker.
Ausmus walks.
Pence to PH for Oswalt.
Double switch--Bowker out. Cut to Cialis commercial.
-
hamstringish?
I don't know... but it's really giving me the creeps. This is so similar to his uber-slump from last year... looking/acting as if hurts just to swing at or hit the ball... said ball "jumping" off his bat as if it were stuffed with wet newspaper when he does hit it... that I'm really wondering if it's some sort of chronic condition.
He was starting to show signs of life and actually hitting the ball with authority in the week leading up to the Reds series but now he's back in his funk.
It may be irrational, but I can't stop worrying that one day this is going to turn into a Rocco Baldelli-type horror show...
-
Castillo comes in to play 3B. Aurilia from 3B to 1B. Bowker out.
Tyler Walker comes in to pitch to Hunter Pence PH for Oswalt.
Pence takes the first pitch to left field for a single.
-
Astros at 1st and 2nd, 1 out for Loretta.
ball, ball, swinging strike, ball, ball.
Bases loaded for Erstad.
-
Bases loaded for Erstad.
Bochy changes pitchers again.
-
Lucky you
Ain't that the truth.
-
l-o-e:
Nobody's forcing you to root for the team. Or to continue gracing us with your presence.
-
One of these days, the "Spaz adventure ride to the plate" won't be so cute.
-
Jack Taschner LHP (3-1, 3.23) in to face Erstad.
called strike, ball, pop fly in foul territory, 3 Giants coverge, Ochoa slides, the ball hits him in the glove, but he drops it. ball, foul, singles to left field, Ausmus comes in with Pence right on his heels. Both score.
Ausmus had gone back to tag. Hunter took off and almost passed Ausmus.
Giants 3, Astros 4
-
Pence is cracking me up with this 'lead blocker' scoring [and as an added bonus he didn't slam into the back of the lead-runner this time...].
-
It is becoming increasingly obvious why he ran through a glass door.
-
My name is Hunter Pence, I'm coming home. Get out of my way.
-
Tejada
called strike, foul, singles to RF. Bases juiced.
-
One of these days, the "Spaz adventure ride to the plate" won't be so cute.
Yep, wasn't particularly impressed with his slamming into the back of Loretta play a couple of weeks ago.
-
Pence is cracking me up with this 'lead blocker' scoring [and as an added bonus he didn't slam into the back of the lead-runner this time...].
That cracks you up? Scares the shit outta me. Last thing this team needs is for 2 players to slam into each other at home and have broken bones.
-
Fan-friggin'-tastic!!!
-
Whoo hoo!!!!
-
Berkman
ball, foul, ball, ball, GRAND SLAM. yep, a fucking GRAND SLAM.
Giants 3, Astros 8
-

Excellent. Keep up the good work, Spleen.
-
Brad Ausmus had the biggest hit of the game.
-
Fuckin' A... now I can relax a little and watch our gals drop a soupbone on the kindergarteners from China.
-
Lance crushed that!
-
Berkman
ball, foul, ball, ball, GRAND SLAM. yep, a fucking GRAND SLAM.
Giants 3, Astros 8
OK, I guess all of his mitochondria really are in proper working order...
-
Excellent. Keep up the good work, Spleen.
Sounds a little paranoid, you might as well expect Lance to have a bulging disk in his back or a genetic defect in his shoulder...
-
Brad Ausmus had the biggest hit of the game.
Their inability to get to Erstad's fly ball down the line was big, too, but yeah, Brad came through.
-
Blum
called strike, ball, ball, ball, called strike, DOUBLES off the LF wall.
-
That cracks you up? Scares the shit outta me. Last thing this team needs is for 2 players to slam into each other at home and have broken bones.
The scene, not the idiocy of slamming himself into the back of a fellow player (instead of using the ole' 'Berkman slide').
-
No doubt you mean the line drive off Lincecum's knee.
-
No doubt you mean the line drive off Lincecum's knee.
Hell yes.
-
No doubt you mean the line drive off Lincecum's knee.
Yep. I dont think they run up the score on Lincecum.
-

Wiggy went into the dugout and ate a biscuit.

Sounds a little paranoid, you might as well expect Lance to have a bulging disk in his back or a genetic defect in his shoulder...
In this case, I'll take paranoia as a form of anti-hubris. Not that I'm proclaiming that the BBGs have a preference, but perhaps they do, perhaps they saw fit to guide Lance's bat there, to assuage Spleen's fears...
-
Bourn
ball, flies out to LF. 2 outs.
-
Ausmus
Lines out to 2B. 3 outs.
-

Could be cholera.

Nice game. Hope Matsui's back is OK.
-
much obliged, jd
-
You are all very welcome.
-
Footer called this game a snoozer for a while when it was a pitcher's duel.
What's up with that?
(I happen to love those 1-0 duels the NL is famous for.)
-
His last name is deceiving. I believe he is of Filipino descent.
Yep; tv folks were talking about it yesterday or today.JD absolutely couldn't believe it.
-
Jack Taschner LHP (3-1, 3.23) in to face Erstad.

Ausmus had gone back to tag. Hunter took off and almost passed Ausmus.
Giants 3, Astros 4
Just so it's on the record, this is when Joey Trum stopped by my seat. He remained through Berkman's granny. Good vibes all around.
