hey everybody. i'm going to be in galveston and houston over the next week or so. anybody want to hang out and get a beer or take in a ballgame? perhaps a clay walker show or two?
usual topics of conversation from me: rock and roll, MMA, Townes Van Zandt, retarded kids, baseball, food, drugs, beer. maybe a couple of baby pictures also. should be fun. anybody down? my schedule is pretty flexible.

Houston is a one-horse backwater town, just a gas stop on the way to Beaumont. Pass it by.

You will note that the phrase, "The coldest winter I ever spent was the summer I spent in San Francisco," does not apply here, either in winter or summer.

Maybe we could get a group together and meet one day for lunch, how about Applebees?

They have MMA there.

Don't forget to pick up some historical reference at the airport bookstore.

The Venn diagram of Chili's bartenders and wannabe-MMA mooks wearing Affliction t-shirts just looks like one circle.

I suggest listening to as much Houston sports talk radio as possible while you are here.

Especially Gametime on 1560 am at around 10 Saturday mornings...that show is so awesome they don't even put up podcasts anymore.

Marcel Marceau hosted it last week, and the ratings skyrocketed.

Man, if you make it to Austin, let me know cause I like both rock and roll, plus retarded kids, baseball, food, drugs, and beer. Nothing against Townes or MMA they just don't also make my top nine list of usual topics of thangs and stuff to conversate about. But, Zaaschila's Guacamole con Chile Habanero Avacado & Habanero Salsa Spread Cremosa Salsa de Aguacate y Habanero is on the list.

Something you buy at a store, the web site doesn't mention the guacamole habanero sauce though, but it's great. http://www.zaaschila.com/products.html

Web site says it's sold through HEB in Texas. Is that where you found it?

Yes, at H-E-B.

I remembered to look for this stuff when I was buying groceries Saturday, and my local HEB just started carrying it. It's great!
Give the Hatch Green Chile Tortilla Chips (the Central Market Organics brand) a try. They're a big hit at our house.

Ours, too.

Mine three. I hesitated at first when I considered the value compared to other brands, but they are tasty. I just need to get my hands on the Habanero y Avocado de Habanero Chile Salsa (Habanero flavor).

So did anybody get to talk retards with Trum?
Too bad I don't live in Houston anymore, I could have introduced him to my son. He rides the short bus and everything!
An actual for real SHORT BUS comes and picks him up for school!
I feel like Joey's trip is incomplete.

I met him at the game last night. Pretty cool dude. Didn't show me any baby pictures though. Astros did start winning the game when he came by. I did hush him when Bradley came up to bat. I hope I didn't offend him. I didn't realize he was/is a special education teacher until yesterday.
-
Ahhhh...I get it.
Special ed teacher is a reasonable explanation.
Too bad hisoriginal post was more or less an inside joke nobody was in on.
Glad to hear it.

He has mentioned it in the past. I took notice because my 16 year old stepdaughter is autistic and rides the short bus, too.

I missed the special ed teacher post.
I've learned that when you are dealing with special needs you have to keep your sense of humor. Glad to see Joey has his.
My boy has autism as well...

He stopped by my seats just in time for the rally in the bottom of the seventh. High-fived after Berkman's granny and then disappeared into the ether.
Joey's got damn good timing. Always fun to meet a fellow TZ'er.

It does, but you'll tend to run into things. We don't want to be held liable.

i work with autistic kids and emotionally disturbed kids, and honestly there are few people i've worked with who don't have the same sense of humor about it as me-- you have to, and the ones who don't are the ones who usually get burned out the fastest. i've been in multiple situations, for instance, where i've been involved in a physical restraint with a kid and, while holding this child who's going through this terrible meltdown, everybody's just looking at each other laughing and making crude, silent jokes. it's horrible in a way, but imagine the types of emotions you experience in the process of having to wrestle with a kid you know and love who's having a psychotic episode, who maybe attacked you or someone close to you, who you have to hold on the ground screaming and raving for what could be as long as a half hour. if you can't muster up a sense of humor about that, or about how much it can try your patience just to play a simple game of tennis with an autistic kid, then you might want to consider a new line of work. i guess it's like that seinfeld episode about dentist jokes and jewish jokes-- you can make them if you're one of them.

You're a raving anti-dentite!

this is true.
