The last two nights has me wondering if the Astros could re-gift Wolf in some manner, and try to get something good out of this season. Consecutive ball-stompings at home by the 'Roots is enough to drive even the most delusional of fans over the edge.

The same policies apply to Wolf today as applied to the Padres yesterday. That is, there is the no-trade clause to consider as well as the salary issues. Also, there is the impending July 31st deadline.

I thought at first that there was a provision that you couldn't deal them again within 10 days; however, scanning the CBA, I found no such provision, and I know that Piazza was re-dealt by the Fish 8 days after acquiring him from the Dodgers.

This is more the question I'm asking, although clearly Wolf's individual NTC will come into play also.
Wasn't Hampy olé'd right through Florida to Atlanta without passing go but still collecting $200 (million)?

The acquisition of Wolf may also allow some leeway for WadeSmith to make a different trade. Even though Wolf won't be around for next year (my hunch), you still need someone to pitch every fifth day. But say you got some feelers out and some clubs are intrigued by the idea of acquiring "big game" Backe... without Wolf in the fold, you don't consider getting rid of a starter. But now you can.
Brandon Backe for Gerald Laird for example would be a great deal to make! Not that I know of any such deal in the works, but I do know Texas has always like Brandon Backe so perhaps there is a market for BB out there.
-
I would give up a toe if it meant we could swing Backe for Laird.

Just saying... don't really think the Rangers are that stupid, but they did go out and got Salty and who needs defense in the AL any way!

its really obscene how much young catching talent the rangers have in saltalamacchia, max ramirez and taylor teagarden. it would seem laird would be a piece that they could market.

Rangers have received calls from 20 teams on at least 1 of their catchers. (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080725&content_id=3195986&vkey=news_tex&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex&partnerId=rss_tex)
