I've been gone for the past two weeks - no Astros.  How's Chacon been pitching?

Oswalt plunked 2 Dodgers in the first and ended up giving up a sac fly to Loney before getting out of the inning. 1-0 dojers, mid one.

Since the SnS Radio show said it would be a good idea Saturday.

Berkman's ab was about as perfect as it gets. Lay off a few low curves and then finaly gets one that's spinning in the zone. Ka-Twinkie!

If anyone is willing, I'd appreciate any observations re: these guys for the last couple weeks.

Quintero
Newhan
Runelvys

How they doing?

Thanks

I'll take a stab at it...

Q has been what you want from Q. Good D, a little bit of offense. Solid behind the plate mostly.

Newhan has been solid off the bench, and had a huge day the other day when he got a spot start.

Elvys pitched his ass off against the Sox, just made a few mistakes. The damage doer was a 2-0 fastball that JD Drew deposited in the right field bleachers for a 3 run blammo.

I'm thoroughly confused.

Did Coop just leave Roy in to bat with 1st and 3rd, 2 outs, and then lift him before throwing a pitch in the following inning?

edit:  Just rewound and saw that Rex came out.  Hope Roy's OK.

he must have hurt himself swinging the bat. there is no other explanation for it.

It was funny that he took his time as JD was mentioning how most pitchers hate coming in after injuries. They rush too much. Sampson didn't, good for him.

Some classic JD/Brownie interplay there on the Tejada AB.

JD:  Miggy's laying back on it fouling off the fastballs.  I wouldn't be surprised if he........ hit it hard.  Well, I was going to say 'hit the snot out of it,' but you can't say snot on TV.

Brownie:  You can't say snot on TV?

JD: No.

JD: (something along the lines of) Tejada with a shot off the wall.

Brownie: He really hit the snot outta that one.

Leave Valverde alone!!!!

*sob*

Seriously though, stop hitting balls back at him.

:Of course right after I say that he gets a balk called on him.

Someone explain to me how that is a balk.  The dodgers announcers are thoroughly confused.

JD says he because he didn't come to a stop (as he went glove to hand up by his head, like he does every time).  Second time it has been called on him this year.  JD was incredulous about the call (which is not something I remember him doing a ton of).

Replay looked like he set for over 1 second, which is the rule. I agree with JD, nitpicking call.

Nice win Astros!

Injury related (came out during warm-ups? in the top of the 7th, only got home in time to see him talking to Dave L. before he walked off the mound).  Nothing on Astros.com or Chron.com about it yet.  JD and Brownie didn't seem to see anything that would indicate what the problem was, and (JD I think) speculated that it might have come from batting the inning before.

JD just reported talking via phone to Jimmy Stanton in the clubhouse, hip abductor strain, day to day.

That reminds me of the two changes I'd love to see from EI and MLB.TV:

(1) Showing post game interviews; and
(2) Allowing the viewer which broadcast they'd like to watch.

The second isn't going to happen on EI (not enough channels set aside), although it should be easy on MLB.TV (which already allows the user to choose which radio broadcast they'd like to listen to).

When I had MLB.tv a couple of years ago, I remember weird behavior that would switch the feeds in mid game if the browser was closed or timed out. I could never get it to make this switch on purpose, but it would happen. Sometimes.

Point being, the stream is floating around out there and it seems like it could be an easy option to set.

Last year (or maybe the year before) if you clicked on the same feed you were watching a 2nd time, it would flip broadcasts.

Because Jose Cruz the Turd decided to thumb his nose at the BBGs.  You have to ask?

Yup and in case it was missed, they had Valverde take one off the hand as well.  You know, as an exclamation mark.
