Title: Get yourself an XBOX 360
Post by: MusicMan on June 05, 2008, 11:01:06 am

I was always more partial to Baseball Stars, the one that let you pick teams like "The Lovely Ladies" and the "Ghastly Monsters."  You could create your own team, too.  I remember getting into big trouble when I rented it and whoever had the game last named their team "The Fuckers."  My parents ran in from the other room to find out why I was laughing my 9-year-old ass off.  Then they wouldn't believe me when I told them it was someone else that made the obscene team name.

And what was that game that had the robot baseball players that could shoot each other with missiles and fireballs and stuff?  Those guys anticipated the post-steroid Barry Bonds like 10 years before it happened!

I don't remember the title, but I loved that game.

Hate/Thank me later, but here's a site that runs almost every NES game through flash... (http://www.virtualnes.com/)

Baseball Simulator 1.000? A friend had that game, and from my hazy memory, I remember something sort of like what you describe. I didn't care for it -- I wanted to play with real players and teams!

I was the nerd who spent the summer playing the original Major League Baseball for NES and keeping stats for the players, long before the system would do that for you. Those pages of stats are still at my mom's house somewhere, I bet.

That one was called Base Wars, IIRC.

In keeping with the retro-sports games making a comeback, here's one coming to DS apparently this fall, with it being developed for Wii later on.  Looks like they found a clever way to sort of get around the NFL and players' association liscensing issues.

The Java app won't load for me.  This is likely a very good thing.

Bottom of the 3rd, the 86 Astros are cruising against the steM. Scott with the 4-1 lead over Doc. Confidence is high.

Wow, $100 just to get in the door.  You'd better be pretty confident!

One of my buddies won the 2006 Championship.   There's a lot of detail to that game believe it or not....certainly can't tell by the graphics

Super Baseball 2020?  I remember you had robot players on your team and if they got hit by a pitch, they broke.

not to be a party-pooper, but i think they're starting to sell the 360's with Blue-Ray drives in July or August, so it'd be wise to wait a bit if you're in the market for one...

Microsoft is keeping quiet about blu-ray on xbox 360 but it'll likely happen.  It will be an add on just like their HD-DVD drive was.
