So, why take him out? Villarreal makes me nervous. Every time.
-
Over-managing (clap clap clapclapclap)
-
Villareal fucked up regardless if they were working around Burrell. That 3-0 tailing over the inner half fastball was not pretty. Thank god for the take sign.
-
Over-managing (clap clap clapclapclap)
Ain't that the truth. Now what if the Phillies come around again for the 9th with Utley and Howard? No lefty left.

So, why take him out? Villareal makes me nervous. Every time.

Sorry, its hard enough to try to read all the other posts and keep up with the PBP. Since when did we get picky?
-
Pence
Dribbles one up the 3B line, Feliz goes for it barehanded, pulls back, ball hits the 3B bag, infield hit.
-
Hunter sliding headfirst again. Sigh.
-
Sorry, its hard enough to try to read all the other posts and keep up with the PBP. Since when did we get picky?
I see several people misspelling his name. Just a gentle reminder.

Nail it down, Brocail.

What are the chances that Villarreal finds himself without a job when Wandy comes back?
-
No maybe about looking for the hit and run. He practically stopped mid-steal.
-
What are the chances that Villarreal finds himself without a job when Wandy comes back?
Nil. Now maybe when Geary is healthy...

How scared of contact has Ausmus been this year?

Feliz on 1st.
Coste bloop single to RCF.
Men on 1st and 2nd. Ruiz to pinch run for Coste. Phillies have used all bench players.

Runners move up to 2nd and 3rd. Infield comes in. Short pop to CF, Bourn high tails it and grabs, runners have to hold. 1 out.

Nice execution!!!
-
Victorino up with the bases juiced
ball, ball, popped to Erstad (deeper than I originally thought), throws to Ausmus, tag at the plate---OUT!!
Astros win. Ausmus is mobbed.
-
Monster play by Erstad. I thought yesterday was a great finish!
-
Wonderful! Lee probably doesn't make that throw.
-
Damn that was sweet!!!
-
The Matador makes a nice tag.
-
What a finish--great throw by Erstad, excellent tag by Ausmus.
-
Wow...how important has Erstad been to this team so far?
-
Fucking awesome.
-
How close was the play at the plate?
-
Patti Smith is going to get KO'd eventually. She getting paid by the insult?
-
Brocail: "God, my defense is so good to me"
Folks, we have a "TEAM" here. Fun, fun, fun to watch.
-
Brocail is a great interview.
-
Brocail: "I almost flubbed it up."
-
Erstad had perfect form on that fly. Got behind the ball, running start, and fired a bullet to the plate. Great tag by Bid Aus. What a way to end it!
-
How close was the play at the plate?
Extremely. Ausmus tagged him in the chest just before he puts his hand down to tag the plate. Ump was behind the play. Got the call right.
-
Awesome!
Thanks!
-
Man, did I pick I great time to get home or what?
I turn on the game in the top of the ninth after a wonderful dinner, and Darin Erstad serves up the dish of the night.
What. a. throw.
WOW. This team is just incredible to watch. How the frack are they doing this?
-
Awesome!
Thanks!
The fly ball really looked like it was gonna score the tying run. Brocail in the interview said that he thought it was gonna be cut off, they were gonna go for the tie, then he saw it go through and wow! Ausmus put on the tag.
-
Footer on the post game, now they lost video and audio feed of her. Sorry guys.
-
This is a good team, a fun team, with some really excellent veteran bench players, some real pros. The bullpen is shaping up to be pretty darn good too.
-
Thanks for the PBP, JD.
-
I thought the same thing Brocail thought and was wondering why the throw wasn't cut off to try to steal an out on a baserunner trying to advance. Good thing it wasn't.
-

These are men. And they are not pissing around.
-
Bourn is hitting .378 in his last 10 games. 5 multihit games. He is looking multitudes better at the plate.
-
Thanks for the PBP, JD.
Your very welcome. Hope it was descriptive enough. Some of those plays were a little hairy to explain.
-

As is Wigginton. I'd rather have this balanced lineup than Tejada and Berkman doing everything.
-

Great job, again!

Well, the results are much better anyway. I never thought he looked that bad. He had a few too many strikeouts early.
-

I don't see it there?

Well, the results are much better anyway. I never thought he looked that bad. He had a few too many strikeouts early.
For the first few weeks, I don't think he was swinging with conviction (a little timid). I could be wrong, but lately I think he believes he can--like the little engine that could.
-
I don't see it there?
Gameday is annoying to link to sometimes... From the link I gave, you have to hit the "Gameday" tab in the upper left corner, then hit the "video" tab in the upper right, then click on the "Erstad turns two" button. GEEZ, what a pain in the rear that link turned out to be...
-
'Twould be nice if the Pirates could beat the Baby Bears tonight. They got a run off Wood in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extras. Game's tied 4-4, bottom 11.
-
Didn't think it could get more exciting than last night, but here we are again.
Hey, Erstad, that's what he does.
Good plays all night long.
Jose coulda pitched, but didn't want him to. Told Brocail before the game he was the guy, he was gonna close.
Moehler mixed his pitches well, hung breaking ball to the best HR hitter in the game right now (I disagree, gotta pick Lance)
Everyone is contributing, both young guys and veterans.
When asked what was his best decision of the night he responded, "I just stay out of the way and let them play."
-
Made that throw plenty of times, you are just on autopilot and go.
When you have your chances off the bench, you just gotta make your plays.
You can't rely on just one or two guys, everyone has to contribute.
Says Lee sandbags a little bit, he is better than he plays off.
-

That would be so awesome. Top of the 12th now with 1 on, no outs, Derrek Lee batting.
-
First time I've ever seen a game end like that.
It says alot about the character of this team, how we come back and win ballgames. It is something that we didn't do last year.
I'm glad to get deeper in the ball game, Coop and I talked about that before the game.
-

Strike 'em out throw 'em out DP to end the 12th. [Pirates had the game 3-1 until a 3 run outburst by the scrubs in the 8th]
-
Bottom of the 12th now. 4 to 4 Pirates vs Cubholes. C'mon Bucs.
-
Nate McLouth is having quite a year. Pirates men on 1st and 2nd with 1 out.

I didn't get every word they said, sorta summarized it.
-
Moehler is now 2-1, 3.43 in 4 games started. Good teams need fill-in performances like this.
-

Great game to be at. 3-4 this week for my attendance record.

Bout damn time. They're now up to .181 winning percentage vs the Cubs in 2008.
-
Was at a party at a lakehouse tonight, but I snuck inside their house just in time to see Broc throw the ball in to center field. What happened after that... I can't even believe. Holy shit this team is heart attack city!

Oh, please. He corrected my spelling tonight. He better watch out.
How dare that flubber.
