The quote from todays NYCU referenced article was also quoted 10/30/07 (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071030&content_id=2288741&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou) announcing Ausmus' signing and his role mentoring JR.
"As a receiver, he's very good," Ausmus said. "He's probably one of the better receivers in the league. But just arriving to the big leagues, there's some things he has to learn. It comes with experience, and he doesn't have experience. Hopefully he'll speed up the learning process, in theory, with me around."
I thought it sounded familiar and had to go looking.

That's on Footer. The only other thing I got out of that article is that Wade thinks Towles is skinny.

So Ms. Footer, rather than making up conversations or conflicts in her head to fill the void, reuses quotes to make a point. I know you aren't complaining, butr I think that is good work.

Also, it's the first in the series of 9 articles. And just coming out of the holidays she probably didn't have many contacts to work with. If she was up to bat she'd just be kicking sand over the back line of the box.

Certainly not complaining at Prav and really not complaining at Footer since she prefaces the quote by saying he said it when he re signed with the team. Just saw the quote and had to find where I had seen it before. If I had taken the time to read the article first (read more/post less) she would have told me where I could have found it with out google.

Which isn't one of the quirks of the English language that the difference between a new contract and the end of a career is a hyphen?
Resign (end of career) vs. re-sign (new contract). Maybe others have noticed that before.

Several years ago, in these very pages, someone reported that a prominent Astro (can't remember which one just now) had "resigned" when he had actually "re-signed". That caused a major freak out. I think most are extra careful to put in the - .
