Ken Davidoff of Newsday seems to say that Clemens might return in 2008 out of spite, and that Houston could be a logical place to land. Definitely rumor that may or may hold water, but I don't think he would be a good idea even without the steroid accusation.

At the right price, I think it's hard to say that he isn't a better option than Sampson. And while he comes with a lot of baggage, I think that he'll still put a lot of fannies in the seats. I think that I'd hold my nose a little if the Astros went in this direction, but as others have said in the "would you root for Tejada" thread, at the end I'm a fan of the uniform and not the player.

I think that Clemens pitches next year. His ego is such that he will have to redeem himself--at least in his eyes--and go out in far better fashion than that truncated playoff game for the Yankees.
I think he'll probably pitch again for the Yankees, though, and not for us. Having said that, I don't think that the Grocer would think twice about bringing him back to Houston.

Sure, let him play, must start with the team at the beginning of the year, get his wins up front, if he fades out, well they we've had time to figure out who can step in.

Second, they don't need the headache of bringing back Clemens right now. It will be a neverending circus in the locker room if Clemens has to deal with the ridiculous amount of NY media on a nighly basis.

Exactly. All of this roster movement is exciting. Stagnating through mediocrity with what was left of the '07 squad is what would've sucked like quiet desperation. Or something.

2-5 is weak, if we're honest. This offseason has been the bizzaro ride through Astroland. Clemens signing a 1-year deal in February would top it off, big time.

Wasn't half the Yankees' roster in the report? Seems like Clemens doesn't stand out as much there.
