Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols concedes his season may be over barring improvement in a strained left calf that forced him from the lineup shortly before Tuesday night's game ... (This is how it starts, hang on it gets better.)
"If I feel like I can play, I'm going to play. But the way I feel right now, I would say no. But we'll see the next couple of days," Pujols said, refusing to rule out the possibility of playing by saying "anything's possible."
... La Russa recently said he would continue to play Pujols, in part, because of the former Most Valuable Player approaching several historic thresholds.
La Russa on Wednesday classified Pujols as "doubtful" for this weekend's series against the Houston Astros and did not sound confident about when, or if, (get ready cub fans) his No. 3 hitter would return on a three-city, (start whining...) season-ending road trip. (Cardinals start a 3 game series with Milwaukee on Monday...now)

Maybe the Cubs can employ Chris Crocker to look into this.

It's all a vast, terrible conspiracy by the Astros and Cardinals and Brewers to bring down the Cubs in a whirlwind haze of smoke, fire, broken bones, hot dogs, beerpuke, and Kerry Wood's empty TrimSpa bottles. Wah fucking wah.

Wah fucking wah.
Wait a minute, did the Beastie Boys redo that George Harrison classic?
-
The Harrison one has better guitar riffs.

The version of "Wah wah" on "Concert for George" is tremendous.
