I'd guess you'll see a little of both. As much as I'm not a Burke fan, I'm even less of a Lane fan. I think it's primarily Burke.

Post by: dirty steve on July 23, 2007, 10:47:26 pm: honestly...what can be gained by bringing up lane and not anderson or rodriguez? i dont catch any RR games but i did see anderson is hitting a decent .272 with 31 bags...and is only 24. just dont understand why you dont get a guy AB's on the ML level that might have a future with the organization, since this season is essentially over.

Post by: VirtualBob on July 23, 2007, 11:29:45 pm: I understand the lack of expectations for Lane, and having watched his upper cut for most of a year at RR, I can't say that I am overly optimistic. On the other hand, he was really starting to rake at RR, and I certainly *hope* that he learns to adjust to MLB pitching this time around. I would *like* to see himm succeed, if only to raise his trade value.

Surely they have learned to keep Burke out of CF, haven't they? And Scott is only a little better. Lane & Bruntlett can both play the position, at least.

Oh, so he's got a backup skill in case the fielding and batting thing doesn't work out? I suppose they can always use another dirt-raker during the 7th inning stretch.

Well, hopefully Pence won't be out for the rest of the year. And I'm assuming that Carlos Lee keeps his job in LF.
