watching Zito last night confirmed my belief that if i were LH, i'd still be pitching.

They are currently the Anna Benson of Major League Baseball. They travel around city to city, letting entire baseball teams fuck them.

I've never met Ms Benson, but I imagine the way the Astros stink is pretty close.

"Oh, dad, poor dad! Mom has locked your offense in the closet, and we're feeling so sad!"
It's no longer, "You know, some day this war's gonna END..." for certain.

Ignore the smoke, mirrors and the rest of the team behind the curtain... keep your eyes on hunter pence

I thought that it was just me. Zito didn't look special last night. But we couldn't hit him.

He gave up 13 runs in his previous two starts. He's not fooling anyone...except the Astros.

The Houston Astros.....endeavor to persevere!

Did they really looked fooled or just inept?

Can anyone else smell a hitting coach change in the not-so-distant future? Garner hasn't been bashful about making changes in his coaching staff.

Lee hit the ball hard 3 times. Lane, the pop ups were very bad, but didn't have to be Zito for that to happen. Biggio, Loretta, were exactly what you'd expect. Pence was fooled on the breaking stuff. Ensberg looked fooled on his first atbat but was hacking after that.

I'm getting sick and fucking tired of Lane admiring his routine fly balls as if he were the Red Messiah.

It's amazing how he can look like he can mash a baseball but the end result is warning track power. Too much upper cut in his swing. Classic low ball hitter who won't hit a middle to high fastball squarely.

Inept. His heater was up and slow. They hit it at people when they hit it, but they mostly mis-hit it, or took it only to get fucked by the big hook later.

Interesting note in Olney's ESPN pay-per-blog: http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=olney_buster
Basically he points out that in Zito's prior start, Oakland (who know him very well) loaded their lineup with their big lefty hitters, and relegated the righthanders who are usually featured against lefties to the margins of the batting order or the bench. Zito struggled horribly against the lefties. Going into last night, lefties hit him at a .309 clip with a .491 slugging percentage, while righties were limited to a .218 BA and .327 slugging. The Astros, by contrast, went with the all-righthanded lineup and were shut down.

Do you really think it matters with this lineup?

The Flatstros. Or PENCE!!! and the 7 dwarves.
-
With any luck at all the Stros would have scored 5-6 runs last night. There were a ton of atom balls, Zito is really ordinary. It didnt help matters that we put out our worst possible lineup sans playing OP for Lee, or starting some of our pitchers as position players.

A lot like me on the golf course, where my friends refer to my game as sneaky short.
