Anybody else here tonight?
-
I'm here, and my interweb is so slow that I can't even get Gameday.
-
Guess not much is going on tonight. At my place, it's me Milo and a bottle of bourbon. I don't even know what the score is.
-
I'm shocked, I found the game on DirecTV channel 659, so I'll be hangin'
-
The Golden Triangle time warner has a "secret" normally blank channel that often shows Rangers games with pure static instead of audio commentary (not a bad thing, though I do actually like Grieve). I was hoping it would be on tonight. No dice.
It's nuthin' nuthin' in the bottom of the second, one out, Pence on (walk), AE up.
The Astros don't quite have a hit yet, but it's early.
-
I'm here, but so is the husband, so he is playing PS2 on the TV. I may not post alot, will go to the other room to watch the game. I posted a link to astros.com on the TZ about Backe. He had some soreness after simulated game.
-
Guess PENCE!!! isn't that fast.
-
Gads. I've never done PBP, but I do have a television. So I'll see if I can help out.
First inning was relatively uneventful, although Methuselah (Lofton) reached 3rd before Albers ended the inning.
Lance got dinged by an up-and-in fastball on the hands, but he seems to be ok.
T2 ended with Rangers' pitcher striking out with men on base.
B3:
Scott grounds out.
Pence walks.
Everett up, Pence thrown out trying to steal.
Everett strikes out.
0-0 after 2.
-
Sorry, that was bottom of the 2nd, not bottom of the 3rd.
-
T3. Due up: Lofton, Young, Texeira.
Lofton: B, B, S (looking), B, ground ball to the statue at 2nd, infield hit. I swear that Lofton looks like Willy Mays Hays.
-
Young: B, B, B, B.
Runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs.
-
Ausmus visits the mound and asks (a la Wayne Graham): "Are you afraid to be out here? If so, I'll go get somebody who isn't."
Texeira: S, B, S (swinging on a slider), S (swinging on a slider).
1 out, still runners on 1st and 2nd.
-
Sosa: S (looking, fastball low and out), S (foul), B (up and in), lined into the LF corner, both runner score, Sosa on 2nd.
Suck. Lamb just missed it, but it is what it is.
-
Cruz: S (slider), B (FB down and out), fucking A: HR to RF, 2 more runs in.
4-0 stRangers.
Brownie and JD are speculating about how long Albers' leash is.
-
Can't stand even being BEHIND in a game against this abortion of a franchise, much less losing to it.
I know; go play Bingo witgh the REST of the nation.
Albers blows tonight!
-
Cruz is a big, strong kid. Evern so, Milwaukee did real well in that trade.
-
alllllright..how about we get albers out of there right about now-ish
-
Vasquez: B, B, visit by Wallace ("Are you a man?"), B, S, jeez louise: HR to RF.
5-0 stRangers.
I think Matt might need some time in AAA to regroup.
-
What a bandbox.
-
Stewart: B, B, S, B, S, foul, F8 to moderately deep CF.
Still 5-0 stRangers, 2 outs.
-
Anyone listening to Milo? I'm convinced he just said "Griffey Gonzalez here, Dunn Gonzalez there" and I have absolutely no idea why.
In other news, maybe we'll get to see Moehler tonight!
-
Vasquez: B, B, visit by Wallace ("Are you a man?"), B, S, jeez louise: HR to RF.
5-0 stRangers.
I think Matt might need some time in AAA to regroup.
I think Jennings will take Albers' next spot in Round Rock, but they'll work it out after that.
-
Kins?: B, B, B, S, S, ground ball to Lamb ranging wide to his left.
5-0 after 2 1/2. Ouch. The good news is that the stRangers pitching staff sucks.
-
Yes, I think Moehler is probably on deck. I think Albers' spot is up in this inning, and I doubt that he'll bat.
-
Anyone listening to Milo? I'm convinced he just said "Griffey Gonzalez here, Dunn Gonzalez there" and I have absolutely no idea why.
Any context or did he just blurt it out? Maybe that's his new way of displaying appreciation for a particularly well endowed female.
-
Guess not much is going on tonight. At my place, it's me Milo and a bottle of bourbon. I don't even know what the score is.
My television downstairs has gone to shit. No picture. Just a blank screen. But the sound works so I still get a better play by play with Brownie and JD, than you do with Milo.
I guess tomorrow I break down and buy a fancy new flat HDTV thingy.
-
Ausmus pops out to 1B or somewhere.
Woody up to pinch hit.
-
Woody: S, B, S (swinging), B (high), S (swinging K). 1 down.
-
Biggio: B, S, B, F7. Sorry, I miscounted the outs. Biggio is the third out.
5-0, stRangers, heading to the 4th.
-
Biggio is freakin' stuck hard to 2966.
-
Biggio is freakin' stuck hard to 2966.
Dude is frozen solid.
-
So Woody hits a HR and now he is a pinch hitter?
-
Maybe Craig needs to try to beat out a bunt or something. He's looking AWFUL this week. Take a day or two or three off.
-
I'm actually enjoying the absence of commercials between innings on 77. I'm just sorry that they don't have the booth audio. I'm sure we would here some choice morsels.
-
So Woody hits a HR and now he is a pinch hitter?
they dont want to use any bench players so early in the game..
-
Lofton's on that short list of guys I wish would vacation in the Afghan mountains...and venture out!
-
So Woody hits a HR and now he is a pinch hitter?
Well, they do that kind of thing in an exhibition game.
What? This game counts? No way, they're in the AL.
-
Borkowski in.
Tejeda: strikes out. Sorry, I missed the first few pitches.
Lofton: B, S (slider up), B (slider down), B (FB down), FB down the middle, Pence makes a run back to the hill and the ball bounces off his glove for a triple. Definitely could have been caught.
-
Hate to be critical but if it hits the glove like that, he probably should have caught it.
-
Bingo, it is! Doubt anyone HERE will mind. This is like losing to the Lions or Grizzlies.....or Texans. F'ing AWFUL!!! They seem to be accepting of it all, too.
-
Young: hit past the statue, Lofton scores.
stRangers 6-0.
Texeria: double-play ball to Everett, steps on 2nd, throws to 1st, inning over. Thank Chlt....
-
Bingo, it is! Doubt anyone HERE will mind. This is like losing to the Lions or Grizzlies.....or Texans.
WTF?!?!? It's just 6 zip in the middle of the fourth. Quitter.
-
Wouldn't have minded mgetting one of those hats
-
T4:
Lamb, B, S, B, B, foul, foul, walk. Here we go!!!!
-
WTF?!?!? It's just 6 zip in the middle of the fourth. Quitter.
Okay, I'll stay; I'll just stop posting my drivel bile scratch and sniff shit.
-
Bingo, it is! Doubt anyone HERE will mind. This is like losing to the Lions or Grizzlies.....or Texans. F'ing AWFUL!!! They seem to be accepting of it all, too.
Ahem... This is the Strangers we're dealing with. This will end up being a game.
-
lance was really lookin to knock one out there
-
Berzerkman: LOOONNGGGG foul ball, just barely foul; suck. B, foul (LF line), B (high), S (swinging).
1 down. Lamb on 1st.
-
Lee: WP (or PB, but should have been blocked), Lamb to 2nd. S (feeble swing by Carlos), foul (3B stands), S (swinging, but weak).
2 down. Lamb on 2nd.
-
Scott: S, B, B (high), B, B (high and outside).
2 down. Lamb on second, Scott on first.
-
Could be worse. Cardinals are down 14-2 right now in Detroit.
-
ROBINSON TEJEDA has a no hitter through 4...
-
PENCE!!!: S (FB down), S (FB swinging up), foul (FB outside, good protecting swing), B (outside), GB 3B to 2B.
End of 4: stRangers 6-0.
-
One more inning for me. My daughter just came home, and I have to go cook dinner.
-
Could be worse. Cardinals are down 14-2 right now in Detroit.
I'm just glad the steM beat the Yankees. And I fuckin hate the steM.
-
Sosa: S (gigantic swing), B (low and away), B (just barely low and away), S (swinging, low and away), low liner to 3B (Lamb).
1 down.
-
Cruz: 2-hopper to Everett.
2 down.
-
Dave Borkowski is such a cool motherfucker.
-
Vazquez: S, S (check swing foul), foul (swinging to LF), S (beautiful back-door slider).
3 down.
Still 6-0 stRangers heading to the bottom of 5. Unfortunately, TimeWarner has just realized that they weren't running commercials between innings, and they're making up for it now.
-
Everett: S, groundball to SS.
-
Ausmus: S, B (outside), B (inside), foul (1B), B (barely outside), ground ball to SS.
2 down. NO HITS!!! DO YOU HEAR ME??? NO HITS!!!
-
the offense goes from hit to shit pretty quickly. pathetic display 2 nights in a row.
-
Borkowski: S, B, S (swinging), B (up and in), S (swinging).
3 down. AND STILL NO ASTROS HITS!! DO YOU HEAR ME BBGS???
-
Somebody else needs to pick up (if anybody cares). I'm off to the kitchen.
-
Is Tejeda throwing a no-hitter, or are the Astros just waiting?
-
Bork still in for the 6th.
Stewart loops a single into shallow RF.
-
Kinsler gounds to Lamb at 3rd, throws to Biggio to force out Stewart. Kinsler safe at 1st FC, then
Sac over to 2nd
2 outs man on 2nd
-
Lofton hits a dying duck single to LF scoring Kinsler, then advances to 2nd on the throw home
-
Young strikes out to end the inning. 7 zip.
-
It's still a fucking no-hitter?
This is not at all what I expected.
-
This is not at all what I expected.
That's why they play the games.
-
It's still a fucking no-hitter?
Was. Biggio is now stuck on 2967.
Lamb up
-
Well, I'm glad that shit still works. Nice job, Bidge. There's still plenty of baseball to play tonight.
-
Biggio to 2nd on a WP
-
It's still a fucking no-hitter?
Nope! Biggio #2967
-
Lamb walks, man on 1st & 2nd with no outs. Lance up.
-
Lance hits a liner to RF, Mansolino holds Bidge, bases juiced. Lee up. Pitching change.
-
funny. Gameday thought Bidge would score, so they put up: in play, run(s) score.
-
The Astros could get back in this fucking game rih'chere.
-
J.D. "We might have a ball game for you after all." He jinxed us. DAMMIT.
-
stRanger's bully is in. They're already back in the game.
-
A 1-2-3 twin killingon the 1st pitch by Feldman. Ouch says JD
-
Not what I would call outstanding patience.
-
Ouch says JD
He should have kept his mouth closed before that.
-
Not what I would call outstanding patience.
What? Like you're not going to get a first pitch strike from a reliever coming in with the bases juiced? No problem with swinging early there.
-
Takes a balk for us to score a run.
-
Luke works the count full, then Feldman balks. Lamb scoreson the balk andthen Luck strikes out. 7-1 going into the 7th.
there that was my inning. Someone elses turn
-

Looked like a good FB outside that Carlos rolled over on. If you swing at that pitch, shoot it to right. Let Sammy kick it around for a while like Harpo Marx.
-
Christ I hate Sosa. I guess it's safe to say that what the normal person feels about Bonds, I feel about Sosa. Frankly, I have a great deal less contempt for Bonds than Sosa. The only "Rangers Texas Rivalry" hype bullshit that remotely riles me up is the thought of Sosa hitting #600 in Minute Maid. I would rather cut myself than watch that.
-
Can anybody give a good description of what just happened with Loretta's AB?
Getting a little late to try and get 'em back one at a time.
-

Ausmus on the move, Loretta smashes the shit out of it right at the third baseman. Line out, doubles up Ausmus easily. Buzzard's luck.
-
Thanks. Figured it went down like that but gameday only tells you so much.
-
2968!
-
2968!
And it was a double!! #650 I think.
-
Milo annoucing groups: "George Costanza and Friends. It doesn't say how large the groups are, but knowing George, it's probably a big group."
I love these. I don't know who's doing it to Milo, but someone should buy him/her a beer.
-
And it was a double!! #650 I think.
And Bidge scores #1800 of his career on Lamb's double.
-
How can Milo not know who George Costanza is?
-
Milo annoucing groups: "George Costanza and Friends. It doesn't say how large the groups are, but knowing George, it's probably a big group."
Wow. Whoever's doing this is obviously getting bolder and bolder. What will it take for Milo to wake up and realize it's a joke? Elvis Presley? Hell, he may not remember who's dead and who's not.
Spiderman is here everybody! Has a big web of friends here at the ball park tonight!
-
Berk with a puny dribbler that the 3B grabbed barehanded and threw him out on a close play, Lamb to third on another close play. Lee, first pitch swinging with the infield back, routine RBI grounder to short. Luuke with a can-o-corn to CF. 7-4 American League
Gagne warming up.
-
Goddam, I miss Bagwell out there.
-
On the other hand, I didn't know who Bruce Campbell is either.
-

Is there a running list of these on OWA? If not, there should be.
-
Small consolation: Sammy the Hippy-Hoppy Clown hasn't done anything tonight.
-

Didn't he have a 2-run double or something like that?
-

Will Tony Soprano show up to congratulate Craig on hit #3000?
-
Bruce Campbell and Associates will be at the game tomorrow night.
There have been several loose attempts to collect these gems, but nothing concrete as far as I know. When you have a cherished grandparent that you know is not going to be around forever you try to spend as much time with them as possible. Same with Milo. We owe it to history to note these as thoroughly as we can.
-
Is it out of the question that PENCE!!! could hit a 3-run homer with no men on base?
-
Didn't he have a 2-run double or something like that?
Yes, you're right. I had managed to put that out of my mind.
-
Bruce Campbell and Associates will be at the game tomorrow night.
Speaking of hits... Ensberg just might end up taking a shotgun blast to the brainstem when that happens. Bruce gets pretty damned twitchy around the walking dead...
-
Sigh. Let's see what they can do tomorrow.
-

Now listen up, you primitive screwheads. See this? This... is my boomstick!
-
I turned to channel 77 in Austin right before the game started... And for whatever reason, they were just running the above and behind home plate camera with the audio off.
Then suddenly, JD and Brownie were mike-testing, and I heard maybe the funniest thing I've ever heard in my ENTIRE life.
JD: Wow, look at those cowboy hats.
BB: Yup, everyone is wearing them.
JD: No Drayton. He doesn't have one on.
BB: Yeah, he's wearing some DORK hat!
JD: Hmmmm... Its a Baylor hat.
BB: Yeah, not a cowboy hat.
Then they yammered one for a few minutes before someone obviously had a "!" moment and turned the sound back off.
Headline tomorrow: Bill Brown and Morgan Ensberg traded to KC Royals for Announcer to be Named Later.
