Loretta-Berkman-Lee-Scott-Pence.

I wish there were some way to get Lamb in there too.

I expect us to score 16 runs tonight.  Would have been 21 with Lamb.

(oooooh, my first GZ as a Pope.  do I get better seats?)

Hey, no pressure Mr. Pence...we're going to give you a single digit jersey number.  NO.  PRESSURE.

You gotta be kidding.  Are you using DirecTV?

Dish Network. The Rangers are always on the main Fox Southwest channel, but they usually run the Houston feed on an alternate channel. For some reason I'm blacked out of the alternate channels when they show the Astros. The only time I'm getting games is when the Rangers aren't on the main channel.

It doesn't make any sense that I can get the regular Fox Southwest broadcast, but get blacked out on its alternate. The Little Rock UPN affiliate used to pick up a lot of games, but they got eaten by ClearChannel.

Biggio has just passed Mel Ott in games-played.

If Dave Bush throws another gem against us, he's on the Cordova List as far as I'm concerned.

FUCK BUD ADAMS AND THE TENNESSEE TITANS

I'm sure if I gave a rats ass about the Oilers, I would feel exactly the same.  I didn't grow up here though and really didn't care about the NFL growing up, but I can appreciate why everyone hates him/them.

David Carr is in attendance, sitting next to Geo Bush this evening.  Creepy.

The offense is fixed.  The gauntlet has been thrown.  Or is it dropped?  Do you drop the guantlet or throw the gauntlet?  Do you run the gauntlet?  This doesn't make any sense.  Anyway, HEY, HOW DID I JUST GET PICKED OFF FIRST??

Now you see how it works.

Dave Bush, perfect game.  I'm calling it now.

For those without TV: Lance just watched a pitch literally down the middle of the fucking plate.  Watched.  Middle.

Fixed.  This team's fire has been started.

3 up, 3 down.  3 Ks.

If Dave Bush throws another gem against us,

I'm not so sure it's a question of "if."  With our offense, and the way Bush owns us, we'll be lucky to get a couple unearned runs and hope Sampson is locked in.

You throw down the gauntlet. Of course that assumes that you have located and picked up the gauntlet in the first place. I think the Astros have misplaced their gauntlet. Perhaps Slim Shady brought one with him from Round Rock.

ALKIE'S TRIVIA TIME:

If you look this up and cheat, you're just cheating yourselves.  And me.  And the rest of the board.  And your balls will shrivel up and fall off.

1) What is the highest player-jersey-number retired in MLB (a real player)?

2) Which jersey number (other than #42) has been retired by the most teams?

Craig, it's not just you blacked out. Dish has it listed on 444, but I'm blacked out too. Bastards.

FSN alternate 444 is the Brewers feed. Since you're not in the Brewers "local" market that feed is blacked out for you.

Because you're in the Astros "local" market you get the local KNWS feed if it's picked up by a local station.  If not, then you are SOL, not technically blacked out.

Bases loaded, two outs, Berkman lashes one down the RF line. Two runs score easily. For reasons known only to god and Lance, when the ball thrown back into the IF Lance is standing idly somewhere between first and second. Lance gets in a rundown, and Loretta manages to score as the Brewers are preoccupied chasing down Lance. The Brewers didn't even try to make a play on Loretta.

Or, as Milo would explain it, Whooooaaahhhooooaaaahhhoooooaahhhhooooo!

That was great; thanks.  My wife asked why I was laughing, so I read it aloud, and she had a nice laugh too.

1.  I love Hunter's approach at the plate.
2.  I love "Slim Shady" as the official HP nickname, but am willing to entertain others.
3.  Berkman's first single (not the rundown) was the first time it *sounded* like a Berkman hit all season.
4.  Credit where credit is due... the offense is a hell of a lot better when Everett is swinging well.
5.  What is this soft-focus shit Ch. 51 is using?  It's a baseball game, not "Dangerous Passions 3".

4.  Credit where credit is due... the offense is a hell of a lot better when Everett is swinging well.

When Ausmus sneaks a couple of hits in it doesn't hurt a thing, either.

This is a bizarre comment. If he keeps throwing like this the only thing he's putting at risk is the opponent's ability to score runs.

Lidge strikes out the side.

This has always been a source of irritation for me.  Thorn in the side.  If someone gives up a hit or walk in between K's, they didn't truly strike out the side.  It should be reserved for 3K's in a row.  Ok, jumping off soapbox now.
