Looks like the Bucs will try to accomodate you.
-
Looks like the Bucs will try to accomodate you.
They're quite polite as opponents. Gracious in the fact our hitters make them look awesome. Nice guys, those Pirates.
-
How the heck do you argue a foul ball?
I know, working the angle for ump sympathy (or whatever) later on, but if I saw that in my state while trying to "work", I figured it would be worth just a hat tip to the ump or something.
-
nothing like "watching" an Astros game on MLB's gamecast while Stars Insider is on FSNSW. up next: PokerStars!
-
ANyone notice that the leading hitter, stat-wise, coming into this game, that has played every day so far this season for the Astros, is Everett?
Yep, .286 avg., .8-something-something OPS.
Where are the Adam haters now?
-
alright, i'll do it. 68 TO GO!!!!

You are welcome to come by and watch the game with me here in East Texas...
Still on the projector in the conference room at work (until I can get the cable hooked up at my new house.)
-
Uh huh. Thank you, Senor Umpire.
-
"When you speak of me, speak highly."
-
Day----um.....
OK, not too often you see a player steal second when the pitcher goes for the pickoff at first...
Burke.....you were going to get your butt kicked with another baserunning error, huh?
-
Uh huh. Thank you, Senor Umpire.
what happened?
-
That big boy's got some wheels!!
-
Morgan has a SLOW bat!
-
Lee steals a base....
I guess the Astros have gone on full "get the freak around the bases" mode
-
what happened?
Looked like Burke was meat on a steal of 2nd in which the pitcher had him picked at first. Ump thought otherwise.
-
Morgan fell down fouling off a ball.
Right now, he seems to be a hole in the lineup.
Can AE bat 5th?
-
Nady smacks a double to the gap in right field
-
WOOHOO!
Woody held Nady to a double....by pitching outside.
Hey, Astros pitchers' book-on-the-batters type guys... that may be the way to go, if early indications are correct.
-
Bautista does the same, Nady scores
-
that Nady guy is pissing me off.
-
Castillo hits a high fly to Burke in Center for 1 out
-
Gorzelanny pop fly to Lee in left, 2 outs
-
Castillo hits a high fly to Burke in Center for 1 out
Thanks for doing pbp, Nate.
Burke made a nice throw after the catch, too. He doesn't look like a natural CFer, yet, but at least he seems to be letting some of the instruction settle in.
-
Duffy - b, P 6 3 outs
-

Hey, Astros pitchers' book-on-the-batters type guys... that may be the way to go, if early indications are correct.
By the way, I nominate Nady for full fledged, card-losing membership into the Pain in the Ass wing of the Astro-Killah shithouse.
-
I'm not getting pong sounds anymore. My "feedback" must have gotten through.
-

No problem. Happy to shake off the rust...
-
Lane, foul, ball, ball, line out to Duffy in center. Smoked. 1 out
-
I'm not getting pong sounds anymore. My "feedback" must have gotten through.
I gave them some "feedback" as well. Thank God the chinese water torture's over.
-
Everett - s(l), b, b, b(high), b (outside) walk
-
Quintero - s(l), f, f, throw over, b (high), b(inside), throw over, throw over, pop up to Nady in right. 2 outs.
-
Williams - fly to center. 3 outs.
-
does anyone actually watch the Rockets? wtf is that doing on my TV instead of the Astros?
-
does anyone actually watch the Rockets? wtf is that doing on my TV instead of the Astros?
What are the "rockets"?
-
Gorzelanny looks hittable tonight. Go to it boys.
-
Q worked him pretty good. They should keep that up.
-
Gorzelanny looks hittable tonight.
So does Woody.
-
Wilson - foul, strike (looking), b (outside), grounder up the middle
-
Bay - smacks it to Ensberg who bobbles and throws high to Berkman. Wilson on 2nd, 1 out.
-
LaRoche - smoked to right, Lane up quickly, Wilson held at third, one out.
-
You see a ball hit to the 1st base side of 2nd, and you would be more surprised to see Biggio get to it rather than Everett.
Biggio never had a ton of range, but it is looking rough now.
And then you get Ensberg's throw. Thank Roy, Berkman can stretch.
-
What are the "rockets"?
they do something resembling basketball, but without the teamwork
-
For those of you who don't 'parlez français,' LaRoche is french for 'the roach.'
-
For those of you who don't 'parlez français,' LaRoche is french for 'the roach.'
I'll take your word for it, but that is why I called him Mary Jane Monday...
-
Paulino - staring strike, swinging strike, ball (inside and low), ball (low), ball (low), fouled the curve, popped back out of play, fly to shallo right, Wilson has to hold. 2 outs.
-
Woody's been playing with fire all night so far. Gotta think the dam'll break at some point.
-
You are welcome to come by and watch the game with me here in East Texas...
Still on the projector in the conference room at work (until I can get the cable hooked up at my new house.)
East Texas? What channel? Time Warner of The Golden Triangle isn't showing jack (except the Rockets on FSN, which really doesn't interest me.).
-
Nady - b, s, HBP. bases loaded, 2 outs.
-
Nady - b, s, HBP. bases loaded, 2 outs.
Didn't produce a Pirate run and didn't waste any pitches...I like it.
-
Didn't produce a Pirate run and didn't waste any pitches...I like it.
Plus, fuck that motherfucker!
-
Woody's been playing with fire all night so far. Gotta think the dam'll break at some point.
Woody is a prety smart pitcher, age showing or not.
-
Bautista - foul, strike (looking), Fly to Jason in right, 3 outs.
Williams escapes.
-
He may be smart; that's a lot of baserunners.
-
that's the way to pitch Nady.
-
Biggio (1 for 1) - Strike (weak swing), smacked to third, ate Bautista up, infield single.
-
Puh. Lease. That ain't no fucking hit.
-
Burke singles to right, 1st and 3rd, no outs.
-
Burke, watch Bidge.
-
East Texas? What channel? Time Warner of The Golden Triangle isn't showing jack (except the Rockets on FSN, which really doesn't interest me.).
Whatever service I am getting here at work, they are showing the game on channel 8.
-
good job fuckstick eddings. had to get yourself in the series.
-
Berkman - Strike (swinging) weak swing, b (way outside), foul, fly deep to right, Biggio scores, Burke to second on the throw. Sac fly Berkman.
-
Whatever service I am getting here at work, they are showing the game on channel 8.
our local cable company usually picks up the game in FSN doesn't have it, but not tonight...
-
The Pirates are finally getting some less than perfect play, and the Astros are getting some good luck on the chances they are taking.
-
Lee - Huge cut (strike), foul, ball(high), yanked foul, foul, swinging strikeout. 1 out.
-
our local cable company usually picks up the game in FSN doesn't have it, but not tonight...
A few years ago, they would show the games on 14, the local public access station. I just happened to find this game tonight.
I don't have tv at the house, so I don't know for sure what is going on.
-
Ensberg - foul (at least he's swinging), b (outside), high fastball - Morgan swings through it, foul (high breaking ball), can't catch up with the fastball. 3 outs.
-

I rescanned the blocked channels (spanish, ptl, etn, etc) but no love for me. monday and tuesday I had to work, had to listen to milo. Now I'm home, and its milo again....
-
Crap, MoBerg has a loop in his swing... bat speed not there.
-
Puh. Lease. That ain't no fucking hit.
Shhh. The quicker to 70 the better.
-
Castillo - grounder to short. 1 out
-

Sadly, at my new house, I don't have tv, and I'm haven't found a great spot for picking up an Astros radio affiliate...
Heck, I don't even have internet access at home.
For some reason, I like working late.
-
Gorzelanny - strike, strike, foul, grazed by a pitch. Make him run around a bit.
-
Sadly, at my new house, I don't have tv, and I'm haven't found a great spot for picking up an Astros radio affiliate...
Heck, I don't even have internet access at home.
For some reason, I like working late.
I'd think you could get beaumont stations... I'm listen to KTRH again since the local radio has decided an aggie softball game is more important.
-
Duffy - bunt offering (strike), mound visit, ball, Fly ball, at the wall, Lane makes the catch. 2 outs.
-
Is it just me, or is Quintero a little "quieter" behnd the plate than he was last year.
Didn't he bounce alot previouosly?
-
Wilson - ball, ball, strike looking (Q faked a throw to first), strike looking, foul back, fly to right. 3 outs.
-
Didn't he bounce alot previouosly?
yes... if he's stiller tonight that's a good thing
-
Whatever service I am getting here at work, they are showing the game on channel 8.
I am envious. Here I am, a scant 85 miles from where this game is being fucking played, and am forced to watch the Jakes and the goddamn cocksucking mets.
-
I am envious. Here I am, a scant 85 miles from where this game is being fucking played, and am forced to watch the Jakes and the goddamn cocksucking mets.
I'm going with mythbusters
-
Snell talks about fly fishing with his agent and hooks him in hte mouth.
Lane - ball way inside, strike swinging, ball (low), popped up to right field, Jason was hustling and the Pirates got confused. Lane's standing on second.
-
Good for Lane. A lot of guys would have half-assed that up the line.
A few respect points right there.
-
I am envious. Here I am, a scant 85 miles from where this game is being fucking played, and am forced to watch the Jakes and the goddamn cocksucking mets.
At least it's baseball. The wife has to watch American Douchebag.
-
Nice job by Lane, running all out on the popup.
Lane wants a full time job.
His swing looks like he is slipping into some old bad habits again, though.
-
Lane is trying to make the most of the chance.
-
Everett - strike (swinging), strike (looking), foul, smacked foul (broke his bat), grounder to short, Adam beats it out! Infield single, men on 1st and 2nd, 0 outs.
-
Adam...might have been out there, but dadgummit...
His offense is looking pretty dern good so far this year.
-
At least it's baseball. The wife has to watch American Douchebag.
That is the reason I have my own satellite receiver, to keep peace in the family.
-
Quintero - foul down the right field line, ball (way outside), single to left. Bases loaded, 0 outs.
-
Come on, Woody....
Help yourself out a little here.
-
That is the reason I have my own satellite receiver, to keep peace in the family.
And the main reason I chose internet baseball instead of satellite TV baseball.
-
I'd think you could get beaumont stations... I'm listen to KTRH again since the local radio has decided an aggie softball game is more important.
There is a beaumont station that carries the stros, but I can't remember what it is or find it on my home radio.
-
Williams up with the bases loaded - slow curve inside (ball 1), ball 2 way outside, foul, foul, fly to shallow center. Lane stays put! 1 out.
-
Castillo is putting on a 2nd baseman clinic this series.
-
There is a beaumont station that carries the stros, but I can't remember what it is or find it on my home radio.
used to be 560, but I haven't lived down there for 25 years
-
Bases loaded, no outs....ya got to get something here.
-
Biggio (2 for 2) - almost hit by the pitch, ball outside, strike on the outside corner, foul, foul, ball outside, popped out foul to 1st. 2 outs.
-
Use the field, Burke....
-
used to be 560, but I haven't lived down there for 25 years
I think that's what it was. I moved here in August, and last year I definately listened to some games on a local station at the bottom of the dial, but I just checked and it is most assuredly not Astros baseball being broadcast now (some local talk yahoo with a local state rep). I get KTRH in my truck, but my radio at home doesn't pick it up. Oh well. The occassional ESPN gameday isn't a great tragedy. G
-
Burke - Strike looking, strike swinging, ball inside, HBP! Lane scores. 1 run in, bases loaded 2 outs.
-
Burke channels Biggio. Hey, it's a run.
WAKE UP LANCE
-
I actually thought Burke was hit on the previous pitch...I'll take the run and let Berkman take a shot....
Crap.
-
I'll take it. Come on Lance.
-
Ok Lance, put this fucker out of reach.
edit: Damn.
-
and berkman and lee due!
-
Berkman ground quickly to Wilson who throws to 2nd for the force. 3 outs.
-
By the way, the sound on Fox Sports Pittsburgh is excellent.
-
They fixed the annoying fucking pong noises on MLB.TV pretty quick. I guess they were swamped with hate mail over that.
-
Good news in St Louis: steM lead the Jakes 3-0. Beltran took Looper deep with a man on base.
-
Williams at 71 pitches.
Bay - ball outside, strike looking, strike swinging on a slow curve, ball, foul, weak grounder to the dead zone between the pitcher and third. Williams tries but too late. infield single. Bay on 1st.
-
I like how fast Woody works the game. I am going to enjoy watching him this year.
Too bad he fielded that one. Mo might have had the play. Good try, though.
-
LaRoche - ball, foul, fly to left center, Burke with the catch. 1 out.
-
Paulino - throw over, up Tal's Hill, Burke can't get it, run home. Paulino was posturing and ends up on 2nd.
-
Bad route by Burke, again.
Tough play.
-
Sampson tonight?
-
Shit!
-
Sampson tonight?
I'm thinking White.
ETA: Borkowski loosening up
-
Nady - strike, ball, strike swinging, Q out to the mound, fly to center, Burke dropped it. Paulino screws up and is standing on third. Men on second and third, 1 out. E 8.
-
and burke doesn't have the raw speed to make up for a bad route or jump
-
Gonna be a long year in center field.......
-
Bautista singles to center, drives in 2.
-
Gonna be a long year in center field.......
Just long enough to get Lane there and Gunther called up....
KIDDING!
-
We don't need a real CF in this band box of a stadium. Feel absolutely free to trade our only CF for 1/3 of one year of one #3 starter.
Who's got a CF to trade us?
What does COL want?
-
I think our woody is tired.
-
Bautista singles to center, drives in 2.
Well, fuck.
-

You really want Steve Finley?

Come on, ALkie. Jennings will be here for a while.
And though Burke makes me miss Willie even more, Tav had some ugly plays out there last year, too.
-
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
E6?
-
What an inning....
-
Well, that's REALLY strange. Everett boots it twice and Bautista scores. Man on first and second. 2 out.
-
2 errors for Everett.
-
It's official:
It's going to be a long fucking season.
-
Wilson (9th man to bat in the inning) strikes out. It's over.
-
Well, that's REALLY strange. Everett boots it twice and Bautista scores. Man on first and second. 2 out.
Twice on the same play or different plays?
-
Sucks to get the groundball you want and have the best defender on the field make a double error.
Ouch.
-
Twice on the same play or different plays?
Same play.
-
Twice on the same play or different plays?
Same play... he booted the grounder, then fumbled it trying to catch Gorzellany rounding 2b.
-
Twice on the same play or different plays?
Same play. Ball off the heel of his glove, then he chase the ball into center, slid, and kicked it further into center.
-
You really want Steve Finley?
in place of burke ?
-
Same play.
How? Why? Aarrgh!
-

BEAUMONT TEXAS KRCM 1380 AM
-
It's official:
It's going to be a long fucking season.
Biggio's old.
Ensberg's a pussy.
Burke has no business in center.
Woody doesn't have much stamina. (I feel dirty now)
Wandy's the fourth starter. (I feel even dirtier)
-
sucks that our strengths (bullpen, ss defense, 3-4-5 hitters) have all found ways to shit their pants thus far.

BEAUMONT TEXAS KRCM 1380 AM
Homer. You = my hero.
It comes in like a dream at home.
-
Well, time to shake it off and see what you're made of boys.
Lee, hole, and Lane.
Lee - ball way outside, strike looking, foul, ball low, wow.. smoked to third and Jose Bautista digs it behind the bag and throws him out.
-
What team has two centerfielders? The jints have Winn playing right field.
-
Mo saw the ball, hit the ball.
Amazing.
-
Ensberg gets off the shnide and singles to left. 1 out.
-
Mo saw the ball, hit the ball.
Amazing.
He heard Greg call him a pussy.
-
Homer. You = my hero.
It comes in like a dream at home.
Anything to save you from the cocksucking steM and and shitbag coards.
-
Lane - strike looking, foul, popped up to 1st. 2 outs.
-
Anything to save you from the cocksucking steM and and shitbag coards.
future weapons is coming on, with the 'pain ray gun'
-
Everett - ball, strike, lined to Nady in right. 3 outs.
-
He heard Greg call him a pussy.
If that's what it takes to get him to hit. Count me in on calling him a bitch all season long.
-
What does it tell us that Everett is making better contact than most anyone else on the team?
-
Anything to save you from the cocksucking steM and and shitbag coards.
I spent half the evening holding the AM attenna at a certain angle to get some of KTRH and trying to hear Milo through the static. Needless to say, it was not a useful exercise.
Cocksucks and shitbags have been turned off.
-
It's making his defense suffer.
-
Well....ya'll have fun....wife seems to have figured out I am no actually having to work tonight.
I'll catch the "highllights" online tomorrow.
-
Bay - ball from Borkowski, ball low, strike (looks like Dave has good movement tonight), foul, strikeout swinging! 1 out.
-
LaRoache - strike, ball, strike looking, strike swinging! K! 2 out.
-
Brownie just described the defensive play as 'sloppy'. That is an understatement. Laying back on a groundball and having the runner beat out the throw by a step is 'sloppy'. Dropping a flyball that lands in your glove is a fucking abortion. Kicking a ball twice on the same fucking play is craptacular.
-
Paulino - ball, strike looking (Dave's nasty tonight), ball just low, foul, grounder to Ensberg. 1-2-3.
-

The dropped fly ball... Burke? I'm trying to piece together this forum and gamecast.
Fucking hell. Getting swept by the Pirates was not how I saw this season beginning.
-
Good for Lane. A lot of guys would have half-assed that up the line.
A few respect points right there.
When you have game like Lane, you need to be hustling 24/7.
-

Just once, I want to hear Brownie, or JD, say something like that. Now THAT would be refreshing.
-
Burke dropped the fly ball.
Chacon on to pitch the bottom of th 6th to Q, pinch hitter, and Biggio.
Quintero - strike looking, grounder to deep short. 1 out.
-
The dropped fly ball... Burke?
Yep. He was running back but had the ball easily. Hit the heel.
-

Fucking hell. Getting swept by the Pirates was not how I saw this season beginning.
Watched it right onto the heel of his hand. That's concentratin'.
-
Yep. He was running back but had the ball easily. Hit the heel.
Ouch.
No offense, bad pen, crap defense. Not the recipe Drayton shopped for.
-
Palmeiro on to pinch hit.
O - ball, foul, ball low, foul, grounder to wilson. 2 out.
Burke was there and laid off which caused the ball to hit the heel of his glove.
-
Watched it right onto the heel of his hand. That's concentratin'.
Maybe Morgan was giving him general tips.
-
For those that were discussing the length of the season at this point...here's something fun to keep in mind.
After the Cards series this weekend.............14 of the next 16 are on the ROAD.
-
The dropped fly ball... Burke? I'm trying to piece together this forum and gamecast.
Fucking hell. Getting swept by the Pirates was not how I saw this season beginning.
Yeah, can't tell you the sequence or who was hitting, but he went on a pretty good route back to the base of the hill just right of center and the ball went straight into his glove and came out. He was pretty disgusted, took his hat and glove off and all that and paced around.
This was right after he took an awful route to the ball up on the left side of the hill. That one was in about the same spot as the one Willy caught in game 4 of the '05 NLCS off Rodriguez.
-
Biggio (2 for 3) - ball, foul, ball, grounder to Bautista. 1-2-3 gone.
-
For those that were discussing the length of the season at this point...here's something fun to keep in mind.

So far this year, the Astros have a better record on the road.

.000 = .000
-

Yeah, JD was kind. Burke went too far to his right then back. No way to do that hill.
-
.000 = .000
but they haven't lost a road game, yet.
-
Kicking a ball twice on the same fucking play is craptacular.
Did you even see the play?
-
5 errors all told so far...
Sampson on the hill..
Astro killah Nady - strike looking, ball low, ball low, liner to Bidge. 1 out.
-
JFHC!!
-
Bautista - ball, Foul off the ump's chest protector,, ball inside, ball inside, wicked bounce got Ensberg. man on 1st.
And yes, Q is awfully quiet back there.
-
There's what we were missing from this crapfest... an injury!
MoBerg's rubbing some dirt on it... stop me if you've seen this movie before.
-
Did you even see the play?
Yes, what did I miss?
-
Something to dull the pain:
NYM 9 12 0
STL 0 1 1
-
Castillo - strike swinging, throw over, throw over, fly to right center, Burke actually catches this one. 2 outs.
-
Something to dull the pain:
NYM 9 12 0
STL 0 1 1
Good, we can still battle the Cards all year.
For 5th place.
-
Something to dull the pain:
NYM 9 12 0
STL 0 1 1
Lucas is lurking.
-
Something to dull the pain:
NYM 9 12 0
STL 0 1 1
Beat me to it.
10-0 now. How long until the BFiB start booing.
-
Chacon - strike, fly to shallow right, Lane runs in and gets it. 3 outs.
Pirate broadcasters speculating that after Biggio gets 3000, they'll sit him, put Burke at 2nd and bring up Pence.
-
Yes, what did I miss?
It's not what you missed, it's what you imagined.
-
Pirate broadcasters speculating that after Biggio gets 3000, they'll sit him, put Burke at 2nd and bring up Pence.
What they lack in originality, they make up for in... hell, I don't know.
-
It's not what you missed, it's what you imagined.
I don't know, man. I saw it and it was incredibly un-Everett.
-
Cute blond as the bimbo in the seats for the Pirates... Trenny (sp?) is her name apparently.
Burke at the bat - foul, fly to left center, Duffy there. 1 out.
-
Cute blond as the bimbo in the seats for the Pirates... Trenny (sp?) is her name apparently.
They didn't say Tranny, did they?
-
Berkman needs to get a hit - ball way inside, swinging strike, Fly to Nady in right. 2 outs.
-
It's not what you missed, it's what you imagined.
Alright, what did I imagine? Seriously. I'll admit the phone had just rang and I didn't have the benefit of rewind.
-
They didn't say Tranny, did they?
No, but I had to back up the tivo and listen again...
-
I don't know, man. I saw it and it was incredibly un-Everett.
It was un-Everett, but it was hardly "craptacullary kicking the ball twice".
-
Lee - foul, foul, grounder to second. 3 outs.
-
Alright, what did I imagine? Seriously. I'll admit the phone had just rang and I didn't have the benefit of rewind.
The ball was smoked and came up on one hop. Everett took it off the chest then busted ass to get it in CF and just didn't get it. You described it as "craptacularlly kicking it twice". That's a ridiculous description of the play. Everett makes that play 9 out of 10 times. Any other SS makes it 5 out of 10 times.
-
Sampson still on the bump.
Duffy - strike looking, strike swinging on a sinker, ball low and inside, strike on a check swing. 1 out.

It was un-Everett, but it was hardly "craptacullary kicking the ball twice".
Uh-ok. Thought like he really hadn't made two errors on the same play.
Sloppy < x < Craptacular
Somewhere in there.
-
Wilson at the dish - strike looking, flare to center for a hit. man on 1st, 1 out.
-
Bay - ball low, ball low, grounder to ensberg, Biggio fails to turn it, force at second. 2 outs.

It wasn't sloppy either. That's the point. Burke lollygagged his error. Everett had a tough chance, then busted ass to try to get the ball and it squirted away from him while he was hustling to make a play. Bizzare and unfortunate, but the two plays were not in the same league.
-
LaRoche - strike looking, strike looking, ball low, foul (hammering him inside), ball low and outside, foul up at his eyes, strike looking. 3 outs.
Sampson is looking good.
-
Matt Capps now pitching.
Ensberg - foul, ball just low apparently, foul caught the ump, fly to center, duffy is there. 1 out.
At least he's started to make contact.
-
Lane - strike looking, foul, drive to deep right. Nady at the track, 2 out.
Looking like the Pirates are going to get their sweep....

Sampson still pitching to Paulino and dealing.
Strike swinging, foul, ball low and outside, ball high, grounder to Ensberg, 1 out.

Bautista - ball, strike looking, foul, ball low in the dirt, lined right at Lee. 3 outs.
Torres to try to save it for the Bucs.
