Title: Charlton Jimerson outrighted
Post by: I'm Richies Dad on March 26, 2007, 04:25:40 pm
The Astros also outrighted OF Charlton Jimerson to Double A Corpus Christi, removing him from the 40-man roster.  I am sorry if someone has already posted it.

Imagine how sorry Charlton is.

Particularly knowing that 29 other organizations had a chance to claim him on waivers and passed on it.

All the way back to AA.  Does this mean the RR outfield will be Rodriguez, Pence, Anderson?  Is the 4th outfielder Varner?

I was told Barry Wesson is still in the picture as part of the outfield backups for Round Rock.  Not sure how true that was.

It'll be interesting to see if Jimerson reports to Corpus.

Does he still get paid $380,000 at AA? He just signed a one-year deal with a corresponding major league value of $380,000 earlier this month. Was that if he stayed at the ML level? The wording of "corresponding major league value" makes me wonder.

That's only good in the show.  He gets a per diem good at all Whataburger franchises and little else while at CC.

I am so glad he is not reporting to RR, so I don't have to watch him anymore.  But I must admit when he is at the plate, the breeze seems to pick up more.

This is a pure WAG, but I would bet he does report. What else is he going to do? None of the other teams claimed him off waivers.

790 reports Jimerson requested, and was granted, his outright release.

Because,

Jimerson asked the club to trade him, and when those attempts didn't bear fruit, Jimerson asked for and was granted his release.
