What is with all the Card mustaches?  They look like an all-Super Mario Bros. tribute band.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pudge being able to finish his career out here in Houston.

Me too, but I can't see him not getting a multi-year deal next year from somebody at a higher rate than this year's pay. Castro is probably too close to wait more than one year.

Someone should rush the Cards' dugout with a Gillette Mach 5 and shave off all those dickdusters.  In fact, Phil Garner should dress as a Cardinals fan and inch closer and closer to the Cards' dugout until he's right on the edge...then he should throw off his Cards gear, fart on it, yell, "There's only one 'stache around here!" and then mercilessly shave Card after Card and then, just when you think he's finished, he goes to the Astros' dugout and shaves Coop.

Then he says "I'm sorry that I have to do this, old friend!" and he hits Cecil Cooper with a folding chair.   The crowd goes nuts and "Go Go Astros" blares through the loudspeakers as Garner is crowned the new Astro manager!

Oh, I agree, I'd love to see him around. I just can't see him settling for what he'd probably get in Houston - I think someone will give him more money and probably more years, but it's ok daring to dream.

I think a Mach 5 is way too gentle, they need a short armed vodka soaked Russian barber with a rusty straight razor and a nervous tick.

Tal's Hill has not caused a single injury in 10 years and it leads to some of the most exciting plays in baseball. I don't see how it deserves all the ridicule it gets.

obviously I'm paying a ton of attention. not sure why he didn't stay in to try and finish the 7th then.

3 pages, and the only mention of a score is the 3rd post. I'm ok with that - I've got the radio feed - but this has got to be setting some kind of standard, right?

You've got a home radio feed, which means Milo is announcing, which means you haven't heard a score there since the top of the 1st.

T8, 1 out, runners at 1B and 2B.  STL 2, HOU 3

You're right, I've had to actually go to astros.com to see the score. But still.

And NOW you've broken the string!

DP ends it!

And the Good Guys win it on a 4-6-3 DP.  Nice way to start the series!

I love seeing Valverde punch out Duncan along with the first base ump there at the end. Awesome.

Just got back from the game.    My lasting impression of this game was the defense played at short.  Ryan made three or four nice plays for the Co-ards and the Tejada diving catch was special.

The 8th and 9th innings were nerve wracking.   It was like the 2004 and 2005 NLCS's all over again.

Tal's Hill has not caused a single injury in 10 years and it leads to some of the most exciting plays in baseball. I don't see how it deserves all the ridicule it gets.

I'm sorry everyone, but this is true.

I'm sorry everyone, but this is true.

The Mets announcers (Ron Darling was one) were raving the first game how much they loved MMP. They said it was their favorite of the retractable domes and that there was actually enough quiet time to hear the sounds of the ballyard. Darling said how much he hated the Astrodome, that it had the largest rats he had ever seen and that it stunk ... implied "like piss". I guess he never played at Shea Stadium, or maybe it was all the cocaine parties that fried his memory. Anyway, they couldn't get away without taking a pot shot at Tal's Hill...."one of these days somebody's gunna get hurt out there..."  Yeah Ron, like all the guys who smashed into the monuments at old Yankmee Stadium, the poor slobs who got tangled up in the batting cage at Forbes Field, like Ankiel's face plant or the Philly outfielder who left his nose on the fence railing. Was there ever a career or season ending injury at Crosley Field because of an encounter with the raised terrace there? As I recall, Tal smith started his career in Cincy when they played there and Tal's Hill pays homage to that.
