Correa made a magnificent play and throw from deep in the hole on Crisp, the leadoff batter, but Reed tried to catch it with his belly instead of his glove. Correa also threw an absolute bullet to complete the inning-ending DP.

McCullers gives up a Crawford Box shot to lead off the 2nd.

Lance loads the bases with one out, but 2 K's get him out of the 2nd with no further damage. 1-0.

Today's poll question is "who is the unsung hero of the first half?", and if you answer anyone but Valbuena, you need to reconsider.

And after a long top of the second, the 4-5-6 hitters take about 2 seconds each to sit down in the bottom.

The rare "failure to come to a complete stop" balk for Lance. Maybe the ump is the guy who pulled Limey over.

Ford just pronounced the word "bestowed" to rhyme with "proud". I love it when that happens. Quoth (or paraphraseth) Strunk and White: if you don't know how to pronounce a word, say it loud so someone can correct you.

Strom just made a mound visit on an 0-2 count, I can only assume he spotted something mechanical.

Vogt with a damned impressive piece of hitting. Takes a ball down and in and grounds it the other way for a single against the shift.

LMJ just missing with everything, walks in a run to make it 3-0.

Looking like a Feldman kind of day.

This guy Ladenhorf makes Colin Moran look like Ted Williams. When he was up the first time I thought to myself that I might very well pinch hit for him then and there. And then sure enough he comes up again with the bases loaded and I knew I would pinch hit for him.

What's the deal with Rasmussen not playing, by the way?

Well, not enough 9th inning magic today.  3-2 loss.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I'm aware of the unfairness of saying this about a 21-year-old kid, but it would really help if Correa could get himself straightened out and quit being so anxious at the plate.

That was a scrub who shut us out for eight innings.

Correa needs to be treated like anyone else. What is he hitting? .260? We had Altuve and Correa up in the 9th, and Gomez will get the blame for ending the game. What did our stars do?

I don't see how Correa is exempt. He, Springer, and Valbuena are all hitting about the same for the year. They've each had slumps at different times.

One problem is that Springer is our only outfielder that can hit worth a damn.

"will" was an attempt to predict the future.

I don't hold Gomez responsible for saturday's loss-that was a team failure to get anything done off of Graveman. I give Gomez major props for running hard to 1B and beating that throw on sunday, earning a knock. It would have been easy to coast while mired in an 0-15 slump after hitting another infield grounder. But he didn't. I appreciate that. He's really fast too.
