New site looks great, I post on another board that uses the same format. Took a few days to get used to it, but it is fantastic.
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
I’m not enjoying it. At all.
Starting to see the flaws you mentioned years ago; having trouble remembering what I thought his strengths were.
I'm really hoping The Athletic is done with the hatchet jobs and they expose other clubs.
Otherwise I'll have a hard time justifying paying them to throw piles of shit at my favorite team.
Ok, I am officially fucking confused. Is this about 2017 or the whole history of MLB? In 2017, Beltran was a player, and Cora was a coach.
a new CBA to invoke after 2021.
Stephen A Smith and Max Kellerman got into it today, revolving on Cole’s availability in the 7th inning
https://youtu.be/Of71vyD75rQ
Cole owes a lot to Houston. The organization helped him to become great.
I find Cole's alleged actions embarrassing for him. I thought he was better than this.
I wonder if it's still possible to chase the paper trail of the various entities lobbying for the "nay" side of that vote.
The values that Footer is expressing is that she wants Osuna off the team. She only tweets it when he pitches and she is smart enough to know it associates the Astros with DV. The number of women who follow her who don't know about DV hotlines and are victims of violence are beyond microscopic; however, her twitter audience is mostly male baseball fans and she wants them to find Osuna unacceptable without her losing her job. Footer has also been around long enough to have a huge number of back channels and favors in the bank to organize a smear campaign against Taubman without having to do it herself.
I'm not saying that she did anything wrong, but she wasn't an innocent person minding her own business either as that person seems to want to portray her.
No doubt. I'm sure he was working his ass off to minimize it.
This whole thing still seems bizarre to me. Could he have been the point man on the Osuna deal? Taking the fallout personally and dealing with it in such an immature fashion would fit that to me.
So, Taubman's little stunt, on top of being disgraceful, also puts MLB in the cross-hairs of a potential workplace harassment suit. I suspect that both MLB and team lawyers have told the FO to stop short of any statement that might constitute an admission of liability.
(this, of course, would have little to do with that initial abomination of a press release that attacked the SI article)
So my buddy started filming me while I was streaming the game with a few work colleagues. He knew what I was about to see and knew I was about to lose my shit.... here you go:
https://twitter.com/JonasThoms/status/1186774000984383493?s=19
No apology was ever going to be viewed as a real apology, thats why I put "apologized" in quotes. All thats really been accomplished is admitting guilt, especially with regard to now seemingly conflicting statements by the organization. So now everyone gets to yap about what punishment they think everyone involved should get, instead of about what actually happened.
So officially "apologizing" not only didnt make it go away but now "official investigations into the incident" immediately ramp up? Shocking.
I want to know if the SI reporter went to Astros top brass about it before posting the report. We train our staff to report abuse of any kind right away before doing anything else. Don't let a perpetrator have any more time to continue bad behavior than can be helped.
It looks like (1) the Astros got the facts wrong in the press release; (2) Traubman was being an ass at work and embarrassed the organization; and (3) the Stros could have diffused the situation with a simple you-misunderstood-the-motives-but-we-are-so-sorry-our-behavior-was-inexcusable, which was really the only thing appropriate. If Traubman and the Astros intended to defend Osuna they've accomplished exactly the opposite. Osuna and the Astros will never be able to walk away from the domestic violence storyline now.
Of course that's the one game I was planning on going to - would they make it up Friday?
At this moment, i’d Say Straw and Tucker.
B8:
Kalas just sharted this time as it almost got to the track
Reminded me of this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbB-S_pgnXU
Which did happen in a game.
Best ballpark I have been to.
JD hit an absolute monster home run yesterday.
Anyone else at the game besides me?
3 hours to go.
(poking Luhnow with a stick) Do something!
Rosenthal says Maldonado to Houston:

(Luhnow heard you, Navin.)
I'll believe that when midnight rolls around and he's still a steM.
30 years ago, I was staying in a downtown St. Louis hotel that was within walking distance of the stadium. The Cards were playing the Astros. Since the game was not on local TV and I was too cheap to buy a ticket, I walked by the stadium during the game while listening to the game on the radio.
Suddenly, the gates were opened and there were plenty of seats!!! Turns out the gates were opened each night during the bottom of the 7th inning, apparently allowing walk-in traffic! Returned the next night, enjoying the last 2.5 innings of two Astros wins!!! It was great and the price was right!
Have you ever heard of another ball club that allows or did offer this freebie? Surely, much depends on the neighborhood, but St. Louis was great!
No, no, no. That runner was going to score. Two outs, he was running on contact, the misplay did not cause the run. He would have scored if Reddick was out there.
I like that the catcher had to ask the umpire for another ball so that he could give it to Tito to give to the new pitcher.
TK said good-natured exchange about a call.
I’m a bit surprised that the Dodgers have a spot for him on their 25 man roster. I don’t watch them often, but I was under the impression that their roster was loaded.
Maybe they know that Kemp will be moved for a SP in the next week and don't want to send Straw down and not be able to bring him back for 10 days

AJ on the Matt Thomas show today.
https://sportstalk790.iheart.com/featured/houston-sports-news/content/2019-07-23-aj-hinch-i-want-yordan-playing-every-game/?Pname=local_social&Sc=editorial&Keyid=socialflow
AJ has been committed to giving guys scheduled rest days. I bet he finds ways to work Straw into the lineup, or at least into games as a PR/defensive substitute in the OF. And no, he's not as good a defensive CFer as Marisnick. Note that similar to personal catchers, JVs personal CFer is Jake.
The odd man out seems to more likely be Kemp, but if he isn't traded before the roster crunch then Straw could go down since he has options and TK does not.
Is he head of major league scouting? Anyways, the Giants are hot and probably not sellers and fuck the cubs.
He looks like a left-handed Moises Alou.
We've thought that for some time now, and it hasn't happened. At this point, I choose to assume it won't happen; that way I'll be surprised and excited if it does happen.
Where tf was Tyler white going?! DFA this clown NOW.
White needs to go.
Ichiro was a great player, and a fine leadoff hitter. But let's face it, he was no Rickey Henderson. Not even in the same league, career-wise, even.
Since Texas appears NIT-bound, and my interest in college hoops is fairly tepid to begin with, I am going to put together a GOT Death Pool with some friends instead.
I follow Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) on Twitter. I am disappointed to say that he is a relentless shill and apologist for Trump.
Marwin to Minnesota. 2 years, $21 million.
Ann Coulter is a real piece of work. What made her so bitter?
So like everything else our lying, crooked, grifter of a President does, this will play out exactly the same....
1. Accusation
2. Trump vehemently denies it (and his rube followers believe him)
3. Trump claims others did it
4. Trump lies to try and discredit accusers.
5. Evidence comes out to support the accusation
6. Trump claims, even if it is true, he knew nothing about it
7. Evidence shows that Trump knew about it and/or partook in it (where we are about to be, in regards to the Russia investigation)
8. Trump lies to try and discredit the evidence.
9. Evidence proves was involved and has been lying the entire time.
10. Trump claims that it isn't a crime.
So Manafort sent polling data to the Russians prior to the election. It'll be entertaining to watch the NO COLLUSION! crowd do a Sammy Davis Jr tap dance around this latest nugget.
We know this, by the way, because Manafort's crack attorneys don't know how to redact documents.
Only the best people.
TSA staged at “sickout” at LGA today. Expect this to continue and grow. It really shouldn’t be called a “sickout” as they’re not being paid
Does anyone doubt that the Texans have reached their ceiling with O'Brien at head coach? As a Texans fan, it's painful to watch great players spending their entire career with no shot at a Super Bowl because the coaching staff just isn't that good.
My outside impression:
1. Fertitta didn’t like the hire in the first place and wanted a bigger name.
2. The bowl debacle showed a severe lack of coaching.
3. They already had a handshake agreement with Holgorsen.

Says the man who likely knows something. So what is the plan?
The flyers that they'll take are on guys with velocity and high spin.
Is there a breakdown out there of FAs spin rates?
All I see so far is an offseason going very badly.
Keuchel and Marwin are good as gone - at least that was expected.
Morton's departure is a crucial blow and the alternatives in the market for the rotation are dwindling rapidly.
Chirinos does nothing to reassure me at the catcher situation, and I didn't consider Stassi's audition for the full-time gig a success.
We just lost two decent prospects to Rule 5.
Convince me this offseason is going better than I think, because it seems pretty damn bleak so far.
It's been speculated that Manafort's flip might have been planned with Team Trump. Once he was convicted of 8 counts in a federal court in Virginia, he was going to need a pardon to stay out of jail. So why not plead to everything else and get an inside look at what Mueller has, report it back to Team Trump, and then get a pardon? Well the reporting back part was done and Trump, today, when asked about a pardon, said it hadn't been discussed but was on the table.
Did Mueller just get played?
Fox News legal analyst stunned at how Mueller made it impossible for Trump to save Manafort
On Tuesday, Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano revealed to host Shep Smith that Special Counsel Robert Mueller acted strategically to block President Donald Trump from pardoning Paul Manafort.
It is unclear exactly what he lied about, but Napolitano explained that Mueller designed the plea agreement in such a way that it is “pardon proof.”
“The guilty plea is 175 pages long. In my career, I have never seen one like this. It was so carefully crafted by Bob Mueller and signed by Paul Manafort, that at the time he pleaded guilty to the charges he was indicted for — which was basically bank fraud, money laundering, and some form of commercial bribery of foreign officials in federal court. He also pleaded guilty to uncharged state crimes in New Jersey, in Virginia and in California.”
He added, “Why did they do that? To make it pardon proof so if President Trump, which he can do, does pardon him for the federal crimes the state prosecutors in those states already have his guilty plea.”
I am ready for something to happen.
In what way?
And of course, what happened to the fucking “caravan”? There are so many stupid dipshits in this country, happy as hell to be played by politicians.
Tucker is going to be given every opportunity to be the regular LF. I doubt that they'll be shopping for LF-type person in the off-season.
I recommend, Fall of a Titan, Sports Illustrated's first true crime podcast investigates the death of Steve McNair. The first episode hooked me.
From Twitter:
It's funny to me that after last year's success I'm not nervous at all.
So am I but I have to admit I'm more nervous about whether I will actually see the game. Socked in again in NoTx with no relief in sight. Can't count on DirectTV to deliver.
I’ll bet you a beer he is.
They only retracted the story because Hillary threatened to kill the editor's parents and enslave his children. This "fact" will ease the pain of the believers.
New season, new quibbling over the 25th man on the roster.Harris, McCullers, James over Rondon, Smith, Peacock aren’t throw away 25th man decisions
Damn I miss the TZ sometimes.
No offense to James, but I'd go with Smith over him. Here's my 25.
1 Gurriel
2 Altuve
3 Correa
4 Bregman
5 McCann
6 Gonzalez
7 Springer
8 Reddick
9 Verlander
10 Cole
11 Keuchel
12 Morton
13 Maldonado
14 Marinick
15 Kemp
16 Gattis
17 White
18 Osuna
19 McHugh
20 Pressley
21 Smith
22 Rondon
23 Sipp
24 Devenski
25 McCullers
That is the best thing I have ever seen. Even better than those two Boston jamooks.
Delegates at the UN General Assembly - i.e. other world leaders - laughed out loud at Trump today.
That is all.
I have to figure out how to get Mrs Limey and I to Ostuni next year, with other stops and a different return starting point, so I'm going to give this a whirl.
I don't have a link but I believe they are on record as saying LMJ will have the same role as he did last year, should they make the postseason. Spot start/long relief.
Ramping it up in Florida. Could be back within the next week.
I'll bite. I personally love what President Trump has done and continues to do. I love the make America great and the resurgence of American excellence. We're the greatest country on the globe, and we should pay hardball with our enemies and not let friends take advantage of us. The economy is doing great. We got a tax cut, and another one is promised soon. I love Justice Gorsuch and can't wait until Judge Cavenaugh is confirmed.
I don't quibble with most of what you all write in your little pathetic liberal echo chamber, but I read it all. You guys are delusional. The Republicans are going to hold onto control of the Congress. Resume your attacks. You're tilting at windmills. The bottom line is that the current iteration of the Democrat Party has become a marginalized, obtuse party of no without any real good ideas to advance the country. The Democrat Party is the party of Planned Parenthood, Antifa, gun control and the socialist resistance movement. One thing is clear, and that is the rumblings of civil disobedience and rioting are nothing to be taken seriously. Very few libs are armed with anything more than a megaphone, while ther opposition is armed to the teeth. I like our chances.
The Q Anon guys that Navin likes so much are apparently experiencing a sort of existential crisis. Cohen's flipping (which ought to be illegal, really) casts into doubt their central thesis which is that Mueller is actually working WITH Trump in order to bring down a global child sex trafficking ring. It's starting to dawn on some of these folks that maybe Mueller isn't really working hand in hand with Sessions and Trump after all.
Of course after experiencing a crisis of faith many believers discover their faith rejuvenated and deepened. We can all hope for such a happy outcome in this worrisome case.
That's my "wait and see" position as well. When you fuck up, particularly in such a reprehensible way, it's on you to actively and constructively to try to make the world a better place. It's a lot more than just keeping your head down and not being a "distraction."
They had a great interview with CF Morton on the radio pregame yesterday. I hate to butcher it with bad memory and paraphrasing. I don't know if they archive that or what but if any of you have to know-how to pull that up you should. He had a very heartfelt answer to what an incredible thing, it would be to make the all-star team, because he's never really been very close and doesn't know how many other chances he'll get. So happy for him.
Did I say that? I don't recall ever saying what I thought happened because I have no idea what happened. I did say that Hillary has had an inordinate number of associates die under unnatural circumstances.
Original Ninfa’s on Navigation. Not walking distance though. Irma’s is walking distance.
Happened to have flown to London with the family as part of a Girl Scouts trip. Overnight flight, no sleep, sight see, eat,
Get back late-ish etc.
After I showered I went to a pub (The George Belsize Park) and caught most of the second half and all the rest.
I know jack squat about soccer, but that was freaking cool.
The investigation has backfired and revealed willful intent on the part of scumbags like Rod Rosenstein, Andrew McCabe and James Comey to adversely affect a candidate for president of the United States. This isn't a coup d'etat, but it's getting damn close. When Strzok said that he'd personally prevent Mr. Trump from becoming president and then acted on it, in my opinion, he crossed the line of criminality.
He's lobbying to get Russia back in the G7. I know, I'm as surprised as you are.
How does Abbot not have information that the coast guard did not have to rescue 16,000 people who went out on boats to watch a hurricane? Was he not paying attention at all when a massive natural disaster struck the state he so poorly governs?
What the hell happened between Altuve and McCullers?
When did yuli last play left? In Cuba? That's a long time and I'm not really wanting to be just sticking guys in a position because they played there a bit 5 years ago.

I wonder who will play Altuve in the movie?
Suing in part because they got caught rigging their own primary. Yes they are going to fuck up something that is going their way.
This thread really illustrates an interesting aspect of this forum ... we can even find controversy in agreement.
I could not possibly disagree more. He was at second before Odor threw. One from the mound, two from the field is the rule, which the third base ump correctly applied.
Eric Anthony and Cameron Drew
I’m still upset James Mouton didn’t pan out, I had about 40 of his Donrus Rated Rookie cards
They're launching the Houston site now, and they've already grabbed Jake Kaplan and Steve Campbell from the Chron. Site is up here.
RELEASE THE OTHER MEMO!And Trump's taxes! Weird how republicans STFU when those 2 topics come up. Frauds, all of them.
37 years before the Astros won their first World Series, they won their first division title. Both happened to be in Dodger Stadium.
If there's a person alive who has not seen this, here you go:

What I hate is to debase myself by rooting for the Jaguars and have them shit the bed.
I'm thinking about becoming, oh, I don't know, a Real Madrid fan just to even things out.
And for the record, I was championing Verlander on this board before most others and would have been willing to give up more than we did to get him. We don’t win the World Series without him and I was saying that well before the July trade deadline.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I doubt Luhnow would be any quicker to do this then with Quintana. From a prospect standpoint Verlander was a steal.
I’ve not seen a single indication that Keuchel is anxious to leave. What’s the basis of this comment?
Rosenthal saying that the Astros are in on Arrieta and Darvish.
I read another report on Twitter (yeah, I know) saying the Astros have inquired on Gerrit Cole.
I find it interesting (if true) that the Astros are looking at a top of rotation starter. Would seem to show how likely the Astros think it will be that they will resign Keuchel.
I would personally like to see Astros go after Yelich.
As I told my dad, I hate to see the Astros now having to face him all the time, but I'm glad I'll get the chance to see him a lot. It'll be fascinating to see how well he does, and how often he pitches and hits.
I assume this means that Pooholes will play 1B a fair bit while Ohtani DHs. They could play Ohtani in RF (sitting Calhoun), but taxing your best pitcher like that doesn't seem like a great idea.
Do the beat reporters travel on the same flights as the club? I would think he has friends among the current group.
Just finished the FS1 show. Overall well done. Some extra camera angles not available on the broadcasts a la NFL films and some cool behind the scenes clips.
Some of these found online are so great:

You were lied to. Again.
Does this cause a sad?
Great article. The Inigo Montoya quote was perfect
Beltran has announced his retirement. That was fantastic, what a great player/teammate/person. I hope all the idiots who used to boo him at Minute Maid read that article.
I'm so glad he came back for this season.
ETA: Here's Beltran's statement.
