First batter of the game lines one off of Keuchel's shin for an infield single...Hinch and trainer out...Keuchel staying in...
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Thinking about the 90s teams and how good they were and thinking about how good they could have been if they kept guys like Kile, Caminiti, Hampton, Finley, Gonzalez, Alou, Lofton, Johnson... A lot of talent came and went.

Springer...pops one down the RF line, fan makes a nice play in the stands  to rob Herrera, and Springer ends up with a leadoff walk
Bregman...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Altuve singles up the middle, Springer to 2B
Correa...0-2...1-2...2-2 as the pitch is wild, Springer to 3B, Altuve to 2B...infield now comes in...full count...walks

Yost out...Duffy talks his way into staying in the game...

Gurriel grounds into a 5U-3 double play on the first pitch

Still nothing

After some goofy happening, Astros have the bases loaded with one out...again.

B7:

McCarthy in for the Royals

Gattis...full count...walks
Marwin walks, Gattis to 2B
Kemp, pinch hitting for Stassi, grounds into a FC, Gattis out 4-5 at 3B...Gattis froze then broke back to 2B...Marwin to 2B
White, pinch hitting for Marisnick, chops to 3B, Moustakas panics, and holds the ball...Marwin to 3B, Kemp to 2B
Springer grounds into 4-6-3 double play.  Again.

Nothing.

The Astros have made 21 outs so far this game.  6 of them come on 3 pitches.

Gattis fucked that up completely.

That's not very fair. He froze on what looked to him like a possible line drive caught by the diving first baseman. He shouldn't have broken back to 2, but he was out either way. The play at first was going to be close since the 1b was recovering from his dive.

With as many dp’s as they hit in to I don’t blame Gattis for assuming that was just going to be another one.

You'd like to think that with two different opportunities with the bases loaded and only one out they could score at least one run.

I don't know if they wanted to throw ball four, but you definitely feel like "we can get this guy on a …"  That pitch was probably farther out than McCann wanted, but he knew Orlando would be aggressive and likely chase.  Definitely.

Grimm in...

Bregman hits one deep to RF, Herrera goes back, leaps and robs a home run
Altuve….3-2...checks his swing and draws a walk
Correa flies out F9
Gurriel hits one up the middle, Mondesi fields it and flips to 2B and it's off the mark...TE6 as Altuve is safe at 2B
Gattis pops out to shallow LF on the first pitch

Astros strand a pair...again.

No score

Shit on Giles all you want, but he's proven time and again he's not the same pitcher without a lead to protect.

I knew he was going to give up the lead when he came in the game. Why Hinch trotted him out is completely fucking beyond me.

This game approximates the sensation of having a cigarette put out on one’s self, or so I would imagine.

I think it’s more like waking up the next day after thinking smoking that cigarette might get you somewhere with that chick. It didn’t work and now you’re hung over and all you can taste is an ashtray.

...or so I’d imagine...?

Another night of 7 walks and a hit batter...that's an average of one free pass per inning...0 runs.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

When you add all the Astro hits, that's just over one per inning!

Shit on Giles all you want, but he's proven time and again he's not the same pitcher without a lead to protect.

I knew he was going to give up the lead when he came in the game. Why Hinch trotted him out is completely fucking beyond me.

They've shifted the roster for one more bench player and one less reliever. That's what we wanted them to do. The downside of that is that they have to depend on Giles.

B9:

Hill in for the Royals

Marwin grounds out 3-1...Dozier bobbled the ball, but recovers
Kemp grounds out 4-3
McCann flies out F8

And the Astros put an end to a pathetic night at the plate

1-0 Royals is the final

How about not stomping your dicks with the bases loaded?  How about not going 0 for fucking 9 with RISP,?  How about not leaving fucking 22 guys on base?  I guess none of that matters when you have a designated whipping boy.

I hate to say it, but I think Gattis is gunna be dormant for awhile. I hope I’m wrong. His swing looks funky again.

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

Exactly. Giles hit into all those DPs.

I hope this helps people swallow the shit pill from tonight.

The Seahags blew a 4-0 lead in the first inning and were down 4-5 going into the second. They then blew a 10-5 lead over the course of several innings and lost 10-14. Bummer for them.

In the last four days the Astros have played their worst two games of the season.
We may be in for a rough week or two.

Gattis fucked that up completely.

That play was sums up this game for me.

Bob Gibson to Bagwell at the HoF, "I'd get you out of that crouch,"

I believe him.
