Beneficiary of a great season - new Boston manager.

Isn’t that highly irrregular? To make such an announcement before the World Series, especially since he is still actively working?
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

I guess it hasn't been officially "announced" .  That will happen sometime after the World Series.

Also, since Boston isn't playing any longer this season, this may be a reason why it has been released in a press release from Boston.   There is no advantage to Boston and no reason for Alex to not be a great bench coach for the Astros for the next 7 games.

I read or heard somewhere (and I won't be able to remember where) that the Astros were actively endorsing Cora as manager-ready.

There were at least two jobs filled before the WS.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Three: steM-Mickey Callaway; Red Sox-Alex Cora; and Tigers-Ron Gardenhire.

Or, perhaps he’s the beneficiary of being highly qualified.

I don't know what etiquette requires but it was no secret that Cora was interviewing for the position and won't affect what he does during the next series. I'm just happy for him. Reflects well on the organization.

That said I hope that Crane is keeping Luhnow very happy.

Yeah, he must be thought of highly.  After all, the Sucks ditched a manager who just won a division.  I find that a bit odd.  Even odder is that Giardi is not presently signed for next year.  I don't know the dynamics of that situation, but IMO, he's one of the best managers of his generation, and the Yankees should treat him as such.

I watched his postmortem press conference. He very directly said he does not know what is going to happen to him.
